Getting a new device

Today might have been boring, but I have a feeling that tomorrow won't be. Because I saw something today and I was planning to explore it tomorrow. So I walked into my house with a rare smile.

The next day I woke up early as usual and did some conditioning for two hours. "Good morning Daisy" I said entering the living area. I had just taken a bath and was prepared to go out.

"Good morning Adam, would you like me to do anything for you?" asked Daisy.

"No, I'm just going out" I replied. "Though where are your servers located?" I asked.

"In the basement" she said matter of factly. "Is there a problem?" she asked. Meanwhile my mind was in short circuit mode.

"I'm sorry basement!?" I asked.

"Affirmative" she replied.

"Since when did we have a basement?" I asked almost bewilderedly. "There has always been a basement" she replied. I didn't say anything outward but inwardly,

'So I've lived in this house for the better part of nine years but didn't realize there was a basement!?'.

Coming out of my words, I said "Okay Daisy, direct me to this.....basement". As soon as I said that, a hologram appeared in front of me of a lady in a secretary outfit with an impassive expression. "Follow me" said Daisy before she started heading to the mini closet just beside the kitchen.

As I followed her we entered the closet, there was nothing there apart for some shoes that belonged to my father. But then the floor began to lower down like an elevator, until it lowered to about three meters underground before it stopped and there was nothing but darkness before light illuminated everywhere causing me to close my eyes for a brief moment and then when I opened them, I was... disappointed.

When we were coming down I was thinking 'a secret lair maybe?' but what I was seeing was just a dusty cellar with some electronics and scraps. "Here is the basement" Daisy said. "I can see it" I replied before asking " so where are your servers?"

"There" she said pointing to a few rectangular boxes. "Yeaaaaah not touching that" I said before I said "let's go back".

"Affirmative" she replied before the platform started moving up again. In no time we were back to the living room. But then I heard the door alarm ring. To say I was surprised was an understatement, why? Because in the last two years I had lived here, that alarm hasn't been rang. Heck I don't even know my neighbors.

"Daisy, door cam" I said and then a hologram appeared before me. On the hologram there were two men in military attire. 'What could they want!?' I thought.

"Daisy open the door" I said as I reached the door. With a soft click, the door opened. The men both looked in their twenties. I could tell they were bloodline holders from their aura fluctuations. Though one was a mid gold rank while the other was a peak gold rank.

"Hello, I'm sergeant Howard Ross, we're here on a routine check" the peak gold rank bloodline holder introduced himself.

"Okay?" I said. The other man raised a device that scanned me before saying "he's the bloodline holder we detected sergeant".

'I see so that is a device that detects bloodline holders' I thought. "Our job is to detect and find out if there are any bloodline holders of age in this city who are not attending any of the academies" the sergeant clarified. And now I understood why bloodline holders can never escape the academy, unless they were to go to a barren wasteland.

"How old are you and also your date of birth please?" the sergeant asked.

"I'm sixteen years old and my date of birth is '15th July 50026 A.E'" I replied. He tapped on his device for a bit before asking " which academy do you attend?" he asked.

"Nebula Academy". He tapped again for a while before saying "Your info checks out, sorry for the inconvenience". "No problem you're just doing your job" I replied to which he gave a nod before turning to the other guy and saying "let's go". And with that they left and I went back inside.

I still had plans to go out but before that, it was time to eat. What I ate was nothing special, it was just some steak and grape juice. To no one's surprise, it didn't taste half as good as what I get in the academy. And it was because the meat I eat in the academy is from bloodline beasts, where as the meat I bought yesterday was from normal domestic animals.

"I'm going out Daisy, maybe you'll have a new home by the time I come back" I said.

"Good luck" Daisy replied.

"First things first" I said after going out, "getting a new device". Yeah I didn't think about this before but I needed a new device. Sure Daisy could access Eclipse ( future version of internet), I would want to be able to be able access it on my own.

Soon I arrived at a state of the art complex. It was a tall building that was bustling with different types of people.

"Welcome to sky establishment" said a voice I figured to be AI. "Why hello there young man, how might I help you today" a middle aged man approached me. From his looks alone one could make out that the man was the epitome of greed.

"I would like a device that could access Eclipse" I replied. "Oh silly, have you been living in a cave? Every device can do that" said the man with a glint in his eyes. "Of course I know that, I meant one with fast access" I replied.

But I did not know that, I said I knew because one of the number one thing you do when you don't want to be scammed, is never to admit you don't know anything.

"Oh I have many of different variety, it's up to your taste" the man grinned before saying "come with me". Soon we arrived at a store, even from the outside you could tell the devices in there were good tech.
