In the movies, Voldemort had emotions such as anger and hatred. The reason for this was that his original body was destroyed and the side effects of the love potion disappeared from love potion. But by the time this happened, Tom was already obsessed with dark magic and had made horcruxes. The reason why Voldemort is emotionless and cruel is the horcruxes. Dumbledore explained this.
