Chapter 54: The Safest Place in the City

Elias stood outside Ava's grand mansion, waiting for a taxi, the weight of recent events heavy on his shoulders. Relief mingled with a sense of urgency.

Seeing Ava safe had been his top priority, but now that she was secure, his mind turned to the larger puzzle they faced.

The conflict between the Five Sectors and the Space Sector had been triggered by rumors of a powerful artifact—the Time Magic Box. Elias knew these rumors were baseless, a fabrication that had sown discord and chaos.

But the question lingered: who had spread these rumors, and to what end? The mystery gnawed at him, but without more information, he couldn't know the truth.

His thoughts turned to his immediate needs. He had to improve his magic skills, enhancing his power to ensure he could protect those he cared about and confront their enemies effectively. The path ahead was fraught with danger, and strength would be his greatest ally.

The sound of an approaching taxi pulled Elias from his reverie.

"See you" Elias waved to Ava.

"See you. Be careful ya."Ava was smiling at him. Though Ava was worrying about Elias, she didn't stop Elias from doing what he wanted.

Elias hailed the taxi, climbed into the backseat, and gave the driver directions to Arcanum University. As the taxi pulled away, Elias leaned back, his mind racing with plans and possibilities.

His phone was still with the wind sector member, Scarlett, holding vital information. Retrieving it was his priority. Arcanum University, where he had last seen it, was not far. The campus was a hub of magical activity, and Elias hoped he could find his phone quickly and without incident.

The drive was a brief respite, giving Elias a moment to collect his thoughts. He considered the rumors again.

Who could have orchestrated such a scheme? It had to be someone with a deep understanding of the sectors' dynamics and a motive to incite conflict.

But without more clues, the identity of the saboteur remained elusive.

As the taxi approached the university, Elias paid the driver and stepped out.

The campus sprawled before him, its ancient buildings exuding an air of wisdom and mystery. He walked briskly, his eyes scanning for familiar faces and landmarks.

Elias treaded cautiously through the dimly lit corridors of the laboratory, his senses attuned to every sound and shadow.

His mission was clear: retrieve his phone, a lifeline to his world beyond these walls. The stakes were high, but Elias was undeterred.

Soon, Elias reached the laboratory.

Spotting a flash of blonde hair amidst the sterile surroundings, Elias's heart quickened.

Elias was lucky. There she was, Scarlett, the elusive figure he sought. Dressed in her green uniform, she seemed innocuous.

Moving with the stealth of a seasoned spy, Elias closed in on Scarlett.

With a deft maneuver, he seized her from behind, his grip firm but gentle. Startled, Scarlett turned to face him, confusion and curiosity evident in her emerald eyes.

"Why are you here?" she demanded, her voice a mixture of defiance and intrigue.

Elias wasted no time with pleasantries. "You promised to return my phone. Give it to me now," he insisted, his tone firm but not unkind.

Scarlett hesitated, her gaze flickering with uncertainty. After a moment's pause, she acquiesced, nodding in silent acknowledgment.

Retrieving the phone from her pocket, she extended it towards Elias with a resigned sigh.

With a grateful smile, Elias accepted the device, his fingers brushing against Scarlett's in the brief exchange.

Clutching the phone tightly, he felt a surge of relief wash over him. It felt great to get back the phone. Inside the phone, there was a special digital time magic box. It was important for him to learn the magic inside.

With a nod of thanks, Elias prepared to depart.

"Teleport" Elias mumbled. Focusing his mind, he summoned the power within him, and with a shimmering glow, he vanished from sight, leaving Scarlett alone in the empty classroom.

As Elias materialized outside the laboratory, he couldn't help but feel a sense of triumph.

His encounter with Scarlett had been successful, his mission accomplished. But he knew this was only a temporary victory in the ongoing battle between them.

His next target was the time magic box.

Jasper said that he hid it at the safest place in the city.

Elias was wondering what Jasper meant by the safest place in the city.

First, it would not be the mage executor building, because Jasper didn't like them.

Second, it was not with the six sectors.

Third, it would not be with dark magicians, because dark magicians killed his family members.

This meant that it should be a place that none of them had access to.

Elias took out his phone and searched on the internet for 'the safest place in the city'.

One of the places fulfilled what he was looking for.

Ethereal Codex Sanctum Library.
