Chapter CLXVI - Barbeque Over (part 2)

And after three days, the work is finally done. Early in the morning, I cleaned my inn room from my own stuff and left the inn.

I bade farewell to the inn owner and told her I have my own house now. She congratulated me and thanked me for staying this long, as well as wishing me good luck for the future. I left the inn while waving my hand at her.

I will miss that inn… But screw that. I can finally live in a decent house now!

Yesterday afternoon, I already did the final checks with the workers. Everything they did was perfect, and they somehow understood my wishes just nicely.

Their work is fantastic, and it is already okay for me to immediately move in the very next day.

And that day is today. Boy, am I excited.

Arriving at the house, I started placing the furniture down, starting with the super expensive sofas in front of the fireplace and right next to the stairs, the super expensive glass table, the kitchen wares, and finally the super expensive dining table and chairs.

Yes, I am completely broke now.

I hope there's a Yellow ranked mission available…

Regarding the big ass dining table, it's not like I will eat with a lot of people, but I just want a large dining table so I can feel at home. Even if there won't be anyone living with me, I just wanted a big table.

I also placed the giant king sized beds on each room, which is simply too large in my opinion. I placed a wardrobe, a short table, and a mirror on the walls in each room. I wouldn't want to use just one room, so I made all four bedrooms identical.

As for the storage/library room, a simple line of bookshelves is all it needs.

I also placed the curtains on all the windows in the house, and I had to place four of them for the long window at the balcony, since the wall to the balcony is mostly just glass.

And about the balcony, I placed a set of small tables and chairs, as well as a long chair that was meant for old people to sunbathe.

This house has so many places to just chill and read, I am already super excited about it.

As for the bathroom, I might need to start working on that later. I am planning on designing a modern type bathroom with bathtubs and showers. I'm glad they had showers here, but I want to try a bathtub at least once.

For now, it will just be a simple toilet and a shower. I also added a mirror and a small table inside the bathroom. For the bathtub, I will have to pay a craftsman to make it.

I exited the bathroom and headed to the living room. I took one item out and placed it on the ground.

It's a chandelier.

I had a feeling that placing this would be really nice in this opened room. Thank god this lobby slash living room is really wide, otherwise this chandelier won't even fit in the room.

This is the type of chandeliers placed in banquets or lobbies of a certain important building. I just saw it, bought it, and thought it was cool. Luckily it fits, and it can light the entire room just nicely.

Also-it's-incredibly-expensive-why-am-I-doing-this-to-myself-qedwqoijdqjd--

I didn't trust the workers to be the one placing the chandelier, since it was incredibly expensive. So I went ahead and placed the chandelier myself, and I had to use my shadow wings to fly and place it on the ceiling.

As for the front garden, I guess I can visit a florist and ask for some tips while buying some things. I might take more time in decorating the house than doing missions, and I am very much up to do just that.

At least until it gets boring. Idk, I shouldn't get bored that quickly if I had so much to do.

The time has finally reached the afternoon, and I have finished with the furniture. This place finally looked like a super good house now. Then again, it is thirty two thousand Jules. Plus the six thousand Jules that I used to buy all the furniture, and the one thousand for the workers. In total, this house is around thirty nine thousand Jules.

I am very proud of it. Two years of living in a dorm and inn, and finally a decent house.

Though, I am so broke right now.

The lights on the house are using light crystals, just like every other house. But unlike modern lights that are powered automatically through electricity, I will have to charge it with my own magic energy every five days.

Unlike the kingdom's street lights, I don't have a cable that connects all light bulbs to a single charger, so I will have to touch the light crystals on the ceilings for one second every time it becomes slightly dark.

Luckily they already have invented light switches, to make turning the lights on more convenient. They just need to learn how to wire magic energy to these lamps.

For this evening, I decided to have my own dinner where I cook for myself. I will be making the infamous fried chicken that I will be making all by myself and for myself.

Not even Hod knows about this menu. This one's fully for me.

In the afternoon, I went to the market to grab some of the materials and returned just slightly before sundown. After the third bell rang, I quickly began preparing.

First, I cut the chicken. Then I placed it inside the mix of flour and egg. Then I turned the stove on and started cooki--

I forgot the oil.

FWOOOSHH!!!!

I flew like a devil and returned five minutes later.

I poured the oil in and put the chicken in. The sound of oil and the chicken battling above the frying pan sounded like music to my ears. I waited by the stove while reading a book of recipes I borrowed from the library.

When it's done, I took it out and prepared some potatoes. I saw a recipe for specially fried potatoes from a book, and it does sound interesting. Basically I dipped the pieces of potatoes I just sliced into the mix of flour and egg, and then cooked it.

It sounds simple, so I am kind of curious about the taste.

And… It tasted pretty good.

That night, I ate chicken and potato while sitting on my roof. This roof can actually be a good viewing spot if you want to sit down and gaze upwards aside from the balcony.

Since the house is placed on a tall hill, I can see nearly most of the things from here, including the tall middle castle.

This is beautiful. Everything worked out very well for me.

Getting a house, being an adventurer…

But now that I am here, above the roof and gazing into the stars…

I realized something.

This felt… lonely.

.

After eating, I went back inside and was ready to have a stroll down the kingdom. Maybe tomorrow I'll invite everyone and have dinner together. That way, I won't be too lonely.

That evening, I went around the town all by myself and looked to buy some stuff, like decorations and new locks for my gate and doors. I also went to a magic store and looked for some sort of defensive magic crystals so I can at least protect my house if something happened.

I bought an overly powerful defensive magic crystal that can protect my house that costs wayyy too overpriced. But I just can't help but worry that someone might come and ruin my house, and I loved this house too much, so I ended up spending a lot of money on that.

That evening, I went around and bought a ton of stuff. Now that I have my own house, I was too excited to buy so many things. Plus, I have tons of money that the kingdom gave me. I can buy whatever I want, basically.

I returned to the house a little bit overweight on my space ring. I took all the stuff out and started placing them. In my bedroom, I placed my pocket watch from Xyphon as my main time controller. Right now, it says 8, which is around bed time.

It's been… Four days since that battle, huh?

I lifted my hand and took out my scythe. I stared at the beautiful red metal that is reflecting the light crystal above the bedroom.

Is it okay…? Enjoying life, like this?

… Actually, what am I thinking? Of course it's fine.

Just until tomorrow…

After four days of me not thinking about the reality of this world, I suddenly came into the realization that I had to be out there to do something. That sudden anxiety attack does surprise me, but I promised to stay calm for just one more day.

Tomorrow, and then whatever happens after, I'll deal with it.

I finished all those thoughts and turned to turn the light off. Then, I decided to go to sleep immediately.
