After Apollo's frankly abysmal performance with the Desert Scrouge as a reminder there was only a couple more deaths in the dozen other Familia's who challenged the King Slime or Desert Scrouge, all of which were people who were obviously treating adventuring as a side gig and not their lives passion.
But as all the lesser Familia's cleared out and Finn approached me again I knew a more important moment has come. "Finn, you and the Familia ready for the stronger bosses?" I asked and Finn nodded tilting his head to the side and I saw the mages, archers and long-range specialists around Riveria while the melee focused were close to me and Finn in a circle so they could respond no matter where the monster appeared.
"Ok so I will be summoning a 'massive' monster that takes the form of a flying eye that can shoot some lasers and cursed fire from the center of its eye. After we greatly damage it, it will enrage like all monsters we don't instantly kill, and it will basically pull itself inside out and become a massive flying mouth spewing cursed flames and can dash really fast in a straight line." I explained before taking a breath while everyone listened. "I won't be running away so it will most likely stay focused on me so just try to do as much damage to it as you can as I imagine it being capable of flying will give you melee fighters some issues." I finished with Finn nodding.
"And what kind of drops can we expect out of this monster goodie bag, as you call them?" Finn asked and everyone perked up in excitement as opening the bag was the highlight for these people as literally everyone who participated got something even if they just literally threw a rock at the monster.
"Whew that's a loaded question..." I drew off as I categorized all the vanilla and Calamity items that would drop out of a bag so in the end I just shrugged. "You are guaranteed a magical shield that will give you a special dashing ram that will speed you up as you ram the shield into something while also giving you a magical shield in the act of ramming. Other than that guaranteed drop, you will get potions, materials and other stuff but it's all random so I cannot say." I was especially unsure as Bell had even gotten stuff out of the King Slime loot table though it was still a slime item. So, for all I know they could just directly get other weird weapons.
Finn hummed in thought for a minute before he looked over to Riveria and nodded and spoke again as he looked back to me. "In that case the Loki Familia will be helping you. Just do your best to keep the monster from the mages." He asked and I nodded in agreement.
The Eye of Cthulhu spawn item better known as a Suspicious Looking Eye was literally a football sized eyeball and how else did I summon the primordial remains of some space god. I had to literally poke the center of the eye with my finger and as I did so a primal roar filled with rage and pain rang out in the darkened afternoon's light.
"Jake did you just poke that nasty looking eye in the uhhh eye with your finger?!" Tiona asked as her face twisted in disgust.
I wasn't even given time to make excuses as from over the tree line came a damned blimp sized flying eyeball that locked onto me with its reddened eye and I wondered if the eye was so red and angry was because I literally poked an eye that shared some kind of voodoo sympathetic connection with it.
"Riveria spells now!" Finn yelled as I shot the floating eye in the sky with my space gun as I zipped away on my grappling hook.
The Loki Familia did all they could to hurt the flying eye that spitefully followed me through the forest shooting lasers and even burning down the fucking forest with widespread swathes of green cursed flames.
Weaker spells smashed into it tearing off hunks of flesh, Jester arrows I sold to the committee running this event tore small holes through the boss before dropping off back into the ground. But in the end, the meat of the Loki Familia in the melee fighters like Finn, Bete and Gareth, were simply incapable of harming the boss.
But Ais could use the slime hook she got from the King Slime to actually grapple atop the boss as it solely chased me and attempted to kill me via smashing its form into me or with its lasers or cursed fire.
So, Ais was the one actually dealing the most damage to the boss though she had to avoid friendly fire from spells and Jester arrows going through the bottom and sides of the boss and end up traveling all the way through it.
"Riveria kill it!" I called out feeling the strain of constantly dodging while keeping everyone else at a decent distance from the boss other than the people leaping up to try to take a chunk out of its flesh. Those people were only Ais, Gareth, Tiona, or Bete. The rest were content to bring down the boss in a death by a thousand cuts.
If I had the whole forest to run around in, I wouldn't find it as difficult, but I had to keep everyone else's position in mind and that was stressing me out as I didn't want Loki's people to die as that would sour my plans for them.
Because I had no delusions in thinking I was going to casually kill the Wall of Flesh though with getting Fargo's that may change with all its enchantments and stuff.
"Harbinger of the end, the white snow. Blow with the wind before the twilight. Closing light, the freezing land. Blizzard, the three severe winters - my name is Alf!" Riveria chanted her ice spell that called upon the frozen winds of the underworld apparently and a piercing silver light shot into the Eye of Cthulhu freezing it utterly solid in but a couple moments leaving it floating in the middle of the air.
"Riveria, mages, it's still alive chant your next spell!" Finn yelled out frowning as he pinched his thumb frowning heavily.
Riveria loudly began chanting again and I could feel her mana filling the air as a large fiery glyph formed in front of her as her chants drowned out all the other mages chanting. "The flame will soon be released. Creeping war, unavoidable destruction. The horn of battle sounds aloud, the cruelty of conflict will envelop all. Come, crimson flames, the ruthless inferno. You are the avatar of hellfire. Sweep completely, bring a close to the great war. Burn them through, Sword of Surtr - my name is Alf!"
But before her chant fully finished, the frozen Eye of Cthulhu shattered its ice with a great deal of its frozen flesh falling off with the effort, but then the Monster Rex's screamed a mind-numbing screech that made my vision fog over as the Eye of Cthulhu spun through the eye so fast that it blurred and seemed to grow even larger as it turned itself inside out into its mouth form that instantly lunged to snap towards me.
Riveria's beam of concentrated fire magic only swiped it, but the explosion of powerful flames was more than enough to blast it off its course as it screeched in fury as it smashed into the ground creating a large ditch as it tore through the ground before rising into the air.
"Thank the gods it can't no clip through the ground." I muttered as I just kept shooting the enraged Eye of Cthulhu until finally it just broke apart into ashes as Riveria's fire spell although didn't fully connect burnt through the monster's frame and had apparently fried its internal organs, so it was only working on limited time in its enraged state.
"Yay... Goodie bags." Ais cheered as she picked up her own while I had to backtrack a bit as mine fell to the ground, and I missed it as I was still in constant motion running around with my Hermes boots and being tugged around on my grappling hook.
But seeing how the Eye of Cthulhu fought and acted, I realized that until I got wings or something to give me a lot more mobility, by far the best bet for me was to keep using magic. As despite Ais doing plenty of damage with her level five strength literally carving chunks of flesh off of it. But in the end not even Gareth one of the physically strongest adventurer's in Orario could physically manhandle any Monster Rex at all.
They simply were too large and strong to match physically with human leverage.
"How do I look?" Ais asked dully as she hefted the Shield of Cthulhu along with her broadsword and I couldn't help but chuckle seeing how odd it looked on her.
The weapons were a bit too large and unwieldy for her honestly, though there was little I could do about that. "Uhm try to hold the shield in front of you and dash into a tree?" I asked and her head cocked to the side cutely before she nodded and advanced on one of the nearby trees.
"So, Jake I got this staff what does it do?" Riveria asked dryly as she held out the Deathstare Rod and I pouted as I opened my back and got the shield, the materials and the Teardrop Cleaver. "Ah that is a staff that will summon a much smaller eye to float over your head and will attack things that you have great negative intent towards." I said pouting as I didn't get the summon item.
Riveria pushed a bit of her mind into the staff and then flicked the grotesque staff that was literally a living eye looking around as it was seemingly impaled on an intertwined staff of two metal bars that met in the middle to impale said eye.
And then with a wet squishing noise a like a grape being stepped on, a fist sized eyeball appeared above Riveria's head.
"Jake... This is disgusting." Riveria said shuddering at the sight of the eye hanging over her head. "Do you make anything. Thats normal."
"Hey I didn't make that! It literally came from the boss! And don't even complain dammit. That eye can shoot lasers through the dungeon walls into other tunnels as its capable of sensing enemies with negative intent around you." I all but pouted as I swung the Teardrop Cleaver boredly.
Ais on the other hand literally only got the shield so she was just pouting as she poked my shoulder. "What does the sword do." She asked looking at the thinner more manageable sword.
I actually had to recall its effect before I smiled as actually it wasn't at all useless. "If something is cut or harmed by the sword its conceptually cursed for one minute to lose half of its strength and durability."
I had to make the sword disappear into my inventory as Ais's hand snatched for it and her pout became apoplectic, no even desperate as she looked up to me and I could see the thoughts in her head.
'What if the Black Dragon was literally at half strength?' Could her father have killed it with such a curse upon it?
A truly loud and brutal bonking noise that far eclipsed my head butt on Apollo rang out, as Riveria nonchalantly brought her staff down on Ais's head making the blonds eyes go cross eyed at the blow.
As Ais crouched down holding her head as she looked up to Riveria tearfully pouting with her bottom lip actually quivering in distress I couldn't help the thought crossing my mind. 'I mean Riveria actually drowned Ais when she called her an old hag. Maybe she legitimately isn't an airhead and actually has some brain damage due to always being conked over the head by superhumans.'
I shook my head at the thought and mentally reminded me to be careful with any kids I interact with. as I don't want to accidentally hurt them as I was already getting used to only interacting with people with superhuman physiques.
"Ais what have I said about taking things from people?" Riveria said imperiously as she leaned over Ais whose pout only deepened with her even blushing a bit in embarrassment at being scolded in front of so many people including myself who wasn't used to Riveria taking the Loki members to task as their den mother.
"You said not to... Jake how much are you selling the sword then." She asked as she looked away from Riveria who rolled her eyes at Ais's act in getting out from under her gaze.
"I'm not selling this one as it's my first one and going into a display case if I don't craft it into something better later on. But the Loki Familia literally had dozens of people who attacked the boss. I bet there are members who got the sword and won't mind selling it to you if they are mages or something." I offered and she hurriedly nodded before bowing to me.
"Thank you, Jake. Getting stronger is all I care about, and I have grown more from killing those bosses then going on shallow expeditions past Rivira. So, thank you again." Ais strongly thanked me as she stared into my eyes to convey her seriousness after she came out of the bow.
I nodded in understanding, as I knew her goal in killing the One Eyed Black Dragon though I knew she was far from its match as Albert her father was some kind of Sword Saint who could do cultivator bullshit with his pure sword skill being able to cut through space and time and was such a Chad that he could impregnate his spirit wife to make Ais. Which wasn't possible. Spirits were literally entities coming to life from the world itself and were the closest thing to a god.
"Give me a week or even just a few more days and I will have a bunch more accessories you can wear that's far less of a pain as my other things. You will get much stronger with them." I added on as I knew for my level two mod, I was going to get Fargo's which was going to make myself and the people I sell the Enchantments far stronger simply by wearing the pins.
"I will be there Jake... Do you want some sword training to beat Apollo?" She asked me after a moment of thought and chewing on her words.
"Ais the Loki Familia cannot be seen favoring another Familia about to get into a War Game." Riveria said tiredly and Ais blinked at the elvish princess before she covered her mouth with both hands and spoke towards me so no one could read her lips.
"Will you meet me atop the wall of Orario to spar and I can tell you about the deeper floors of the dungeon tonight?" She asked and Riveria just face palmed throwing up her hands at Ais's poor attempt at being 'subtle'.
"Sure, Ais it's a date I will see you tonight with all the potato snacks you can want." I said with a grin as Ais cocked her head to the side and Riveria snorted as Ais nodded slowly.
"Yes... I suppose us meeting alone with food being shared between us would be a date. Riveria what else do I do on a date?" Ais asked Riveria who choked on her laughter as Tiona burst into laughter.
"Haha Mama Riveria is a century old Christmas Cake with no dating experience and can't tell you Ais!" Tiona teased and a vein popped out on Riveria who slowly turned to the amazon who gulped under the murderous look of the level 6 angry elf.
"Yeah, that's my que to flee. See you guys... We can fight the other bosses later." I muttered at the end as Finn to no avail tried to hold back Riveria from bonking Tiona's head with her metal and crystal studded staff.
Just as I went to teleport, Ais who was standing beside me grabbed onto my arm and with the standard blurring of my vision I ended up in my room with a blond beauty hanging onto my arm as she shook away her disorientation at the teleportation.
"So, any reason you hitched a ride?" I asked and Ais nodded with little emotion.
"Yes, Apollo may empty his coffers to hire an assassin to kill you on the way to the guild. It's happened before to Familia's with only a single strong or couple strong members." She explained.
"I will protect you and when you make those accessories, I want three for free." She said proudly at her negotiation skills while holding up three blue gloved fingers to show her price for acting as my bodyguard.
I sighed just nodding as her following me wouldn't actually harm me even though making her the accessories enchantments from Fargo's would be a bit of a pain due to the pure time it would take to make them, I imagine.
But the sight of the Sword Princess, a strong level five would drive away a good number of assassins who may choose to make an attempt on my life. Which made it worth it in my book, as my actions as of late has brought the Guilds attention onto me and they obviously wanted to find some way to get some authority over my city changing actions.
And causing widespread destruction when level three or four assassins attempt to kill me could very well give them the excuse to attempt to censor me from Guild facilities which I needed.
"Alright follow me to the Guild I guess." I spoke shrugging as I walked out of the room and as I came out into the center of the shop, I saw how Hestia and Seshat had rigged up a system using their divine lie detector sensing to ask the people wanting to come in if they were going to cause issues.
"How business girls?" I asked and out from under a desk I saw Bell and Beatrice loaded up with potions they were restocking into the cabinet jump up.
"Jake your back! Why is Ais Wallenstein with you!" Beatrice called out while Bell all but cried out in surprise and I shrugged.
"Well things happened, and you know I got to go settle the date in the guild for the War Game, so Ais volunteered to walk me there, then me and her are going to go on a date or something." I said flippantly and Seshat only shrugged.
"Thats fine, I don't like stress, so go in my name and I will come out of the safety of this home when the actual War Game Denatus is called to decide what form of challenge the War Game will take." Seshat responded equally as flippantly as obviously Bell had told them all in great detail what had happened today.
"Jake, are you going to be alright? I mean I can't really fight." Beatrice said weakly and I patted the cowgirl between her horns.
"Yeah, don't worry Beatrice I will be fine. I can deal with them alone, to say nothing of me summoning a monster rex and leaving it to clean up their Familia." I said confidently, as physically I was the match of a level two with how my stats were reaching the peak and I was ready for a level up at any point now. I just wanted to finish filling them out, so I got a strong foundation.
"Anyway, I am going to the Guild to deal with the details. Bell, you got the money home, right?" I asked and Bell strongly nodded.
"Yup! I even used a small cart filled with firewood to disguise the money bag, so I didn't get bugged at all!" Bell said proudly at her achievement. And even Hestia cheered on Bell making the white haired beauty grin even wider.
"Jake the guilds going to close, we need to go." Ais said duly cutting through the atmosphere making Hestia pout and eye Ais with an angry look who just blinked and paid the short goddess no further mind as she took my hand. Then we walked out of the store and into the tower with her walking stopping as she looked up into the false stars above us.
"This is nice... Did you make it?" She asked and I nodded.
"I made most of all this, but the stars Seshat placed with her domain of Rituals as she knows where all the real stars needed to go." I explained with Ais taking a breath before shaking her head.
"Let's go." She simply spoke and thus we left the tower into Orario walking towards the Guild, but I noticed the Ais was filled with tension as she held onto her sword.'Jake Barris was a perfect example of committing blasphemy yet it was useful blasphemy at the same time.' Ryuu pondered as she duly watched the Apollo Familia get splattered across the ground via the remote viewing system that Hermes was streaming to all the clubs, bars, and places that people gathered to watch War Games.
On one hand Ryuu understood the sheer value of having High Quality Excellia on demand, yet Ryuu couldn't for the life of her forget the army of white cloaked absolutely mind broke individuals that made up Evilus. And what better tool to destroy Orario and even uncap the Dungeon then having an army of Monster Rex's summoned throughout Orario.
"Jake is not even a threat to Orario. No with his summoned Monster Rex's he is a legitimate threat to the world itself as that Desert Scrouge could begin breaking down the Tower of Babel." She muttered under her breath so quiet that not even Anya or Chloe her coworkers could hear, as a flicker of murderous intent rose up in her heart.
But then Jake swung back in after the Apollo captain was eaten and killed the Desert Scrouge and although seeing his heroic action did blow out the murderous thought she had. In the end she honestly considered hunting down Jake to save him from the torture that Evilus would use to break his mind even with their delusional evil gods no doubt being willing to dirty their hands to break in such a valuable mortal.
Then as Jake headbutted the Apollo onto the ground and accepted the fools War Game challenge Ryuu grinned. It wasn't a smile of triumph or even happiness that someone Syr had mentioned in friendly terms before.
No it was a smile of utter satisfaction... Because with Apollo's Familia being decimated in the Monster Rex but still being highly wealthy, it was obvious that Apollo was going to reach into the dregs of society to even the odds against the monster that was Jake with his no chant magic and being capable of dropping a Monster Rex on his opponents.
And who better to respond to such a call to action then the utter scum of society like assassins and Evilus... Ryuu worked and all but lived solely at the premier bar for adventurers, literally every rumor that passed through Orario ended up here at some point in the Hostess of Fertility.
Rumors of people in white cloaks, abducting people in the depths of the Daedalus District had been growing as of late and Ryuu even though she had hung up her mantle. Sometimes at night she wondered if the Gale should make a return and make the streets of Orario run red with the blood of sinners again.
"Mama Mia I am taking a week off. I have paid my dues for the month, and I need to take care of some things." Ryuu said as she watched the broadcast as Jake led that weird flying eye monster around the forest that got utterly wrecked by the stone pillar sized beams of magic the eye would shoot at him to say nothing of the obviously cursed flames that melted off the flesh of any Loki member who got too close to it.
Yes, such a monster could cause terrible damage to Orario and thus of course Evilus will not be able to hold back its desire to make a move on Jake. He is literally the perfect bait for the rats.
"Well business is probably going to temper down with all the damn customers getting sloshed watching the event tonight. But either way you got till that brats War Game comes up, as its going to be all hands-on deck you understand?" Mia said pointedly and Ryuu reflexively nodded shuddering under the heavy gaze of Mia Grande.
She had seen the fates of Chloe and Lunoire when they decided to skip work for a couple days and Mia had to hunt them down... She didn't want to be laid up in bed after Mia beat her to the precise point, she would need to rest for however long she had skipped out on work.
"Yes Mama." She said and then hurried into the back so she could finish her shift of work. Obviously following Jake Bariss was going to be the most trying thing in her years as even Loki and Freya's hounds couldn't follow the young man half the time due to how he teleported around and threw off any trace.
Like literally he is rumored to have the ability to teleport between toilets only? Because one time he said he had to go to the bathroom and with his space ability he left a toilet behind as he teleported, now everyone thinks Jake has the ability to teleport between all the toilets of Orario.
Ryuu huffed as she washed some dishes. Obviously, such a thing was a false rumor, 'What's next? Jake could only teleport to the last place he slept with a woman Ha!' Ryuu actually snorted at the thought making Syr who snuck up behind her loudly squeak in surprise instead.
"Oh Syr, it's just you. Is the broadcast over now?" Ryuu asked nonchalantly while hiding the smug little smile she had at actually scaring her troublesome savior under her elfish poised expression.
"Yup! It was so adorable! Apparently, Ais Wallenstein has a crush or something on Jake as she was making grabby hands and trying to beg for Jake's magical sword that he got from killing that weird eye Monster Rex!" Syr exclaimed gleefully, obviously taking great joy in the rumors that were going to fill the bar tonight.
But Ryuu frowned. 'Why in the world would the sword princess follow Jake around? And she most certainly doesn't like or have a crush on him as she is well known for having less emotional intelligence than the average tree stump.' Ryuu thought as she pondered how this was going to affect her stalk- shadowing of Jake to see how Evilus will go after him.
"Ais Wallenstein pining after a boy? That would be the day I suppose." Ryuu responded dryly giving Syr the validation she needed otherwise she would needle Ryuu for the entire night. No, she would actually go into her room after lights out and have a 'discussion' on why her theory or rumor had to be correct and the more Ryuu defended her point the more outlandish the points Syr would guess to bring validation to her claims, until Ryuu would give up and accept the rumor or theory as an iron clad fact so silver haired witch would leave her be.
"I know right! I mean Ais is obviously adorable and what not... But she is a broken doll and Jake doesn't need that in his life right Ryuu?" Syr's said energetically at first but spoke almost mechanically at the end in a voice that had Ryuu's senses tingle as she threw her coworker a side eye as she helped dry off the dishes beside the elf.
Syr's iron silver eyes dully stared ahead as she monotonously dried off the dishes and then she spoke softly. "It's just kind of pitiful you know... How she constantly reaches for him, wanting his things, only caring for him as a person that can make her strong. But I can't help but wonder how far she will push to get the things she desires to grow stronger." Syr continued to speak and now Ryuu was actually a bit concerned as although she knew Syr was a massive and even that was an understatement. But Syr was a massive meddler in the lives of anyone tangible related to her.
Jake could sort of fit in that category as she had seen them talk a couple times as Syr had just happened to meet the young man on the roads of Orario in quick exchanges as Syr dragged her to different parts of the city to get groceries from different stores.
'So maybe they were closer friends that she knew?' Ryuu thought as she coughed to get Syr out of her mental mess. "Jake is a smart human, isn't he? Then trust in him to know how to handle the Sword Princess. It's not like the she is going to seduce him or something." Ryuu said and Syr nodded taking a deep breath.
"Yes, yes of course. Jake doesn't even seem to be aiming for a life partner anyway... Always messing around with demi humans and what not." Syr muttered under her breath at the end at a level that Ryuu only thought Syr was grumbling about Jake not being romantically interested in anyone.
"Hmm maybe you should be more proactive then?" Ryuu spoke to get Syr out of her head. "I mean this War Game business is probably going to happen in either a few days or more likely get pushed back to this next weekend so everyone can watch. In the meantime, why don't you catch Jake on his way to the dungeon and ask him out on a date or something... I mean you already have a whole book on where you want to take Jake or have him take you." Ryuu said with a hint of red coming to her cheek.
Ryuu was a chaste elf and seeing Syr sordid diary filled with filth... Had made her feel some very unelfin desires.
"Ryuu! You can't just read a lonely maiden's diary!" Syr screamed with embarrassment as her face went atomic red and Ryuu only chuckled as she looked back down to her dishes while Syr pathetically asked what she had read, and Ryuu only hemmed and hawwed making subtle points that only drew more anguish from Syr.
Dionysus was a great number of things. Patient, kind, understanding, and anything else he desired to be at the current time. But when he looked at Jake Barris and looked at his latest project Filvus Challia all he could see was wasted potential in Jake.
The young man could tear down this whole charade of boring heroes who suppressed the masses with their mediocre deeds of merely traveling into the dungeon and dealing with monster's mortals without Falna's dealt with in ages past.
With the fall of the Zeus and Hera Familia, Orario itself has fallen into a pit mediocrity as the so-called kings of Orario in Loki and Freya languishing at the top and refusing to push their potential further...
Hence why he had begun creating the Violas and other monsters that were bent to his will merely years after the fall of the prior rulers of Orario during the rise of Evilus. So great was his care for his plans that he had done something that none other than Ouranos himself had done in actually permanently remodeling the dungeon's floors in order to have the dungeon breed the Violas for him.
But seeing Jake summon Monster Rex's like it was nothing made his decades of planning and resource collection seem worthless... And Dionysus was delighted!
"My lord will he be an issue?" Filvus asked and Dionysus knew she was asking if Jake needed to be dealt with, so the mad god hummed in thought.
Dionysus then gave his other project another look, as his mind whirled. Filvis his oh so loyal tool was an elf with long black hair, red eyes and typically wore a cool cold demeanor to keep others at bay due to her painful past. A past that he had orchestrated in the background to push her to the brink of delightful insanity and despair.
Filvus Challia had to wear a thick dress and a body glove across every bit of her flesh that wasn't below her neck because Dionysus had with great care mutated her body and form with monster flesh taken the Dungeon's heart itself. Added to the skill he never told her about which increased her strength and growth depending on how much despair and negative emotions she was feeling...
She was Dionysus's ace in the hole as even now, as merely a level four she had the pure physical ability to fight that boar of Freya.
"My dear, why would we kill him?" Dionysus asked as he propped up handsome face on his hand as he lazily looked at Filvis who looked at the ground at being questioned in response.
"He could be a threat... And him allowing other adventurers to break their limits could bring unforeseen variables as well as simply make it more difficult for us to uncap the dungeon." Filvis his delightful Creature spoke.
Because that's what she was now. She had the pure flesh of the monsters forced into her so she could grow by eating monster stones, thus tainting her once so pure elfish form with the greatest taboo of things.
Oh, how he adored twisting her little heart along on strings, but the love of the mortal children was such an ethereal yet heavy thing maybe a little more despair could tip the scales as it were... Honestly, he had hoped that having Revis kill her new friend Lefiya Virdis in the dungeon would break her completely but unfortunately the Sword Princess arrived with that confounded sword that cannot break and broke Revis's sword forcing her to flee and allowing Lefiya to survive.
"Filvis I have an important mission for you." Dionysus spoke holding in shudders of glee as the dirty broken little elf looked up to him with such trust. "Go to Jake, marry him or otherwise get pregnant with his child. His skill is obviously the blessing of some god or spirit who is breaking the rules. And such power is perfectly embedded within his form so it will pass along with his seed."
Dionysus seeing her face stiffen in shock at the order then continued as he held in his divine joy in his very domains at the insanity brewing within the girl as he continued to speak out his orders. "Filvis I want you to love him. I want you to give him everything you have in this world. I want his every desire fulfilled and him to want for nothing as you support him."
Dionysus just couldn't help a bark of mad laughter escaping him as he continued to speak. "Haha I am a patient god. I can wait a couple centuries at most for the human to die, but you... No, you are a Creature you will outlive all. breed with him and make me an entire family line like the Crozzo's with the gift, and then no matter even if the Violas and Evilus plans fall. And even if I am sent back to Tenkai one day! One of Jake's progeny will see the filth that is Orario under your teachings and will destroy it with Monster Rex's!"
'Haaaa There there it is!' Dionysus almost moaned with orgasmic pleasure at the pure despair on Filvis's face. For all the loyalty, adoration, love, and pure devotion Filvis had shown him after years of service. He her god just shunted her to the side and all but whored her out.
'Such joy to be found in the Genkai I truly cannot get enough Haha!' Dionysus madly giggled as his eyes flickered with a maddening kaleidoscope of colors as his grip on his arcanum slipped at his Enyo side of his being just so filled to the brim. "Now begone I will not see you again for a long time I suspect my dear." Dionysus said waving Filvius off who staggered in place as stared blankly ahead before tears of blood seeped down her eyes.
"Yes my lord... I obey as always." She all but choked out her as once ruby like gem eyes dulled like dirty blood and she stiffly turned around standing with her back to her god for half a minute and Dionysus couldn't help but wonder if he pushed her not to despair but madness and that she was about to kill him where he stood and send him back to Tenkai.
He wouldn't blame her. He wouldn't even curse her to a life of utmost misery until they died and then spent the next few thousand years torturing her soul like other gods would do to mortals who ended their fun down here in Genkai early. No, he knew what he was doing was wrong, but he had his domains and despite being a good boy for Zeus and Hera, now it was his time to let his hair down and play with the mortal world how he pleased.
Dionysus couldn't help but feel a tiny smidgen of disappointment as Filvis stiffly walked out of the room they had rented with him not seeing her reaction nor her actually even killing him. It was even... Anticlimactic and that above all else irritated him.
-
Loki was furious, no she was pissed, no she was... Actually, she was just super jealous! "Waaaah!" She cried pointing at the screen in her mansion as she watched Ais all but hugging Jake as she tried to steal the new sword he got. "I want Ais to rub her boob plate on me as well!"
Loki cried out with Anakitty Autumn her minder of the day sighing.
"I am so glad I am not in public with you Loki." Anakitty said dryly as she sat as far away from her goddess as she could, while still being on the same couch to stay away from Loki's groping hands that may lash out at her in a moment of 'distraction'.
"So, Aki, you think Aizu and the rest may level up after that weird eye monster?" Loki asked with a tilt to her head as she looked at her minder.
Anakitty was actually one of Loki's most talented level fours she had now. With her being expected to level up perhaps after the next expedition or two in the coming months. That and she was a well-balanced beauty that didn't have a lot of the weird hangups like all of Riveria simping elves did, made her one of Loki's more favored members as who didn't like curvy catgirls?
"Hmm Ais probably is getting close but she needs a true push I guess would be the way to put it. I mean the monster was strong and took a beating but they werent truly pushed with how Jake led it around." Aki replied wryly as she wondered if she herself was there if she would be coming home for a level up.
"Aww is my Aki feeling jealous! If you want, I can try to get Jake to summon another boss for just you to fight in the dungeon with the other lower levels?' She offered and Aki rose an eyebrow in surprise at the 'offer'
"I am not letting you touch my boobs Loki." Aki said automatically making her red haired flat goddess slump over in her couch and begin throwing a temper tantrum.
"Please Aki! Just one little fondle! Maybe just a quick cupping, come on your back has to be tired with just that tube top holding yours up!" Loki tried and before Aki could reply to Loki leapt into the air dive bombing at the level four cat girl.
But a level four had greater reflexes than a common mortal so before Loki even got halfway towards Aki in her dive bomb she was slapped by the fluffy hand of God as Anakitty smashed a thick pillow onto Loki's head so hard, she flopped over the couch and landed across the room.
"Why are the gods so annoying." Aki spoke aloud as she stared up at the ceiling as Loki hopped back to her feet as though nothing happened.
"Heh because we are bored, and we use you cute little mortals for our entertainment. So, we have to needle you lot to get you moving across the board Haha!" Loki proudly laughed but then her smile dropped as she spoke more seriously. "But nah seriously. You level fours in the second string of executives are getting ready for a level up to level five. I think Jake's bosses could be the trigger for that." Loki pointed out and Aki nodded.
"They very well could be. But his bosses are hard on weapons, and he simply doesn't sell enough to replace all of our weapons." Aki complained with some jealousy as she very much wanted a weapon that simply didn't break or even need maintenance. But Jake despite selling the weapons for stupidly cheap only sold a couple at a time which were instantly snatched up by the people who were tested and allowed into the shop.
Loki just smiled as she knew Jake will be make much more stuff with the massive influx of money that he would be getting for helping create this event. In the end all Loki had to do was get to his shop first and clear it out. "Loki! Ais just hugged Jake when he teleported back home!" Aki cried out pointing to the screen.
"My Aizu has betrayed me nooo!!!" Loki hysterically screamed playing it up as she carefully felt for Ais's contract inside her and sighed in relief at her being alive.
Walking with Ais down the streets of Orario was a test of patience as people always fixated on her as she was literally one of the most famous people here in Orario. Though thankfully with Orario's culture of strength and value being the most important. No one dared to run up on Ais to harass her as she was very clearly armed and walking with purpose as she kept one of her hands on her sword sheathed at her side.
"Ah let's get the potato snacks on the way." Ais said seeing an older lady working a stand and I nodded in understanding.
"If we keep in my pocket spell they wont cool down or go bad by the way." I added on and Ais's eyes lit up as she smiled and then as soon as she was able to order she gave out a ridiculous order.
"Fifteen of all three flavors please." She said shamelessly and the woman blinked as she looked down and saw that her order was literally everything on the rack she had precooked and thus shrugged and took a small bag of Valis from Ais. "Keep the change. I love the snacks."
She said softly as she handed me six potato snacks being two of the three apparent flavors while she had me put the rest away in my inventory for a midnight snack or something when she went back home.
"Cheese, red bean paste, and spicy shredded chicken and cheese flavor... My mom used to make these all the time because it was so simple." Ais spoke almost to herself but more as an explanation as to why she bought so many, I guess.
I knew how Aria, Ais's mom got vored by the One-Eyed Black Dragon and was supposedly somehow still alive within the dragon. So, I respected her desire to gain strength to free said mother.
"So how your expeditions going?" I asked and she shrugged.
"Difficult. Boring. And I suppose different now. With the tunnel you made we will be able to take more supplies down with bigger carts but for us level fives and six's to actually get challenged and grow we need to head past at least floor forty... Which can take more than a whole week of travel time." Ais said duly and I could feel the sheer disdain she had for the long travel time it took for the Loki Familia to get to the depths in which they could actually grow.
As me and Ais ate our potato snack and walked toward the Guild I noticed Ais twitching every once and a while as she looked into the alley's we passed by but with the late afternoon crowd filling Orario's streets I couldn't see anything in the glancing moment I had to look within the alleys.
"See anything?" I asked.
But Ais only shook her head as she changed the subject. "Is it true that you can give people an extra mana pool? Riveria is still freaking out about it and it's really funny when she flip-flops between wanting to demand the secret and denying your hints as a total lie." Ais asked with a small smile at seeing her disciplinary figure in life anguishing over something.
I likewise shrugged just to mess with her. "Eh so can you properly fly with your wind magic stuff?" I reposted and Ais's head cocked to the side.
"I probably can for a bit... But holding up my weight entirely on my winds uses a lot of Mind so it's not worth it, when I can just use it to dash around." She said and before we could dodge around each other's questions any further, we had finally arrived in front of the Guild.
Ais decided to stay back outside the Guild when she heard my guild advisor and contact was Rose Fannet as she was also a guiding figure for her in her childhood as an adventurer when she herself was her advisor and would always get on her case about being too reckless.
After waiting in line for a while Rose was notified to come out of the back where she was doing paperwork and seeing me, she rolled her eyes and made a come over motion with her hands as she walked into one of the Guilds side rooms.
"Well, you have been a busy bee... Building a tunnel through the dungeon, spawning Monster Rex's in Orario's backyard. Do you have a death wish or something. Why aren't you doing these suicidal things when you are like level five and can take the heat or flee from people trying to hurt you?" She demanded and I held up a hand in front of her face as she was all but about to leap over the table separating us.
"Doing those things will help me grow faster and I am not far from my level up with all the shenanigans I got drawn into." I said shrugging my shoulders as she couldn't refute me. "Now I came here to square away the details about the War Game that Apollo challenged me to."
Rose's nose twitched and I noticed how her eye's had dilated at being locked in this room and I couldn't help mentally sighing and pondered on whether Seshat's little claim on me was going to be more trouble than it was worth.
"So, what paperwork do I need to fill out for the War Game." I asked snapping her back to attention. Honestly although Rose was hot, but I had both Seshat and Beatrice who were more than willing to warm my bed.
Rose hummed as she bit her lip and took out a folder out of a stack that she brought in. "Well seeing as you are representing your goddess and the Familia in totality. You are capable of signing off on the documents to set the date of the War Game. Though be warned that your goddess will need to meet with the other gods during the mini Denatus to set the challenge for the War Game." She warned me.
"Alright." I said taking the paperwork from her and filling it out and while I did so. Rose coughed awkwardly.
"By the way Jake. The tunnel you made has become an issue of Orario's future and many people are curious about what you will be doing with it." Left unspoken was the Guilds desire to tax the shit out of it as they were the ones taking care of Orario's municipal needs and cleaning up after the irresponsible gods of Orario.
But that was my tunnel, and it didn't even break through the surface, so the Guild had no jurisdiction over it at all as the dungeon was literally a lawless land with zero hard rules and only courtesy rules that can and will be thrown aside to get ahead.
"The expressway I created is actually within the dungeon, so the Guild has no right to it as not only do they not have a way to safely get to the tunnel through the Dungeon without hiring mercenaries which the Guild isn't allowed to. But I am keeping it locked up that way monsters cannot travel to and through the tunnel to prevent floor eighteen or even lower monsters from getting to the surface." I said duly and she shrugged.
"Well, I personally don't care. But my manager ordered me to press on you to get a copy of the key you gave Riveria for Guild use." She said truly only with relief at getting it off her chest in her voice and then she went back to her more deadpan voice as she had me fill out some more regular guild paperwork.
"Also bearing in mind that you are about to level up. You should be aware that the Guild expects you to come back to announce your level up so we can adjust your Familia's tax rates as well as provide more detailed information about dangerous sections within the Dungeon." Rose recited from memory as she gathered all the papers I signed into another folder.
Then Rose took a deep breath as she walked away from me, and I quietly just put the files she left to me in my dungeon as I waited for her to leave.
"Should I just teleport home?" I pondered muttering lightly but then I recalled Ais was just standing outside the Guild probably still as stone patiently waiting for me...
Yeah, leaving the airhead to just stand there probably till dawn would just be mean as she would actually wait that long probably.
