Jake huffed but ran after Leo, he'd follow his best friend anywhere. Even if he didn't agree with him, he wasn't sure about the girl. But he knew he trusted Leo, the group all ran over to the girl.
"Please just trust me!" She cried before leading Leo through the halls.
She led them through the halls, past the twists and turns. Each step feeling like a mile for the group, their adrenaline all pumping, their hearts racing. While Leo carried Dixie over his shoulder, he could feel her blood staining his shirt. But he didn't have time to stop the bleeding, as he looked over his shoulder. He could see the Lunarion chasing them, hunting them. It terrified him, but he kept running refusing to stop.
However he tripped, only for time to seemingly freeze around him once more. There she was, standing before him. The same goddess from earlier.
"Who are you!?" He shouted, he was getting annoyed with her.
"Breath child." She spoke softly, standing on the ground and helping him to his feet.
He growled, "I want a name damnit!" he shouted again.
"My name is Valissa, Goddess of the wild and brave." The goddess, Valissa, spoke.
Leo huffed, taking a moment to catch his breath before speaking again. "And why are you here, this time?" He asked, his tone less harsh than before.
"I simply want to grant you my power. You have proven yourself worthy." She said.
"Worthy!? Bitch ain't you the one that wanted me to sacrifice-" Leo started before Valissa cut him off.
"Hush my child. Allow me to explain." She said, before her eyes glowed a bright shade of gold. "I have been watching you for some time now." She said showing him the past events.
He watched as the scenes from before, from that dreaded camping trip played before him. As if he were watching his life, if it were a movie. It felt weird seeing his life from another point of view.
"You have shown self sacrifice time and time again." She spoke, before showing him a scene he wished to forget.
The event that caused him so much trauma. He watched as he saw himself, mauled by the wolf like beasts, but the Lost Souls, or as they called themselves, Lost Wolves. Then it clicked in his head, as he laid there on the brink of death, he remembered seeing a golden light. As he watched the scene play out, he saw her, Valissa, hovering over his body. Covering him in a warm golden glow. Watching as he saw himself succumb to sleep, he saw how she healed him. He had always assumed it was a dream.
"You saved me?" He asked softly.
"I chose you, my child." She said as the golden glow of her magic vanished.
"But then, you could have saved Marrissa!" He shouted, starting to grow angry.
Valissa shook her head sadly, "I'm afraid you are wrong. Her sacrifice was out of my control. It was picked at a random, the other gods have plans for her. I'm afraid there was nothing I could do." her voice was soft and low, holding a saddened tone.
"Other gods?" Leo asked confused.
Valissa nodded, but quickly got back to the topic at hand. "A story I must explain another time."
Leo frowned, "But-" but she cut him off again.
"Leo Wolfgang, I grant you my power. The power of the wild and brave." She started, however Leo was completely lost. "I grant you the speed of a cheetah, strength of an Ox, hearing of a wolf, sight of an eagle... and most of all, the power to heal." She said. "Know your way around the herbs, remember my name. Call on me when you need my power." She said.
And with that she vanished, and time started back up again. Leo quickly caught his bearings and began running with his group again.
"This way!" She shouted, before crawling into a vent.
Leo hesitated, before diving in after the girl. Being careful to crawl through the vent with Dixie in his arms. After what felt like forever, they exited into a room. A white room, but it was pristine, and clean. As if it was frozen in the past. However the little girl didn't seem to care, instead she quickly ran over to Dixie. She looked extremely worried, until she started crying.
"Help her! She's dying!" The little girl cried.
Chase quickly ran to her side, resting the cowgirls head on his lap. As he gently set her cowgirl hat on the ground, as to not ruin it. He didn't know why he did that, it just felt like the right thing to do. He then took off his bag and dug through it.
"Stop." A voice called out.
Chase flinched and turned to see a ghost boy, about 18 or so. Floating upside down beside him, causing him to let out a startled yelp.
"Whoa man, chill I won't hurt you." The ghost said. "My name's Simon, and that there, is my best friend." Simon said, gesturing to Dixie.
The group exchanged glances before deciding to trust the ghost.
"If she's your friend, then why did you tell Chase to stop?" Andrea asked.
Simon gave a sad smile, and sat on the ground, criss cross applesauce staring at Dixie. Leo took note of the way the boy looked at Dixie, in a way clearly more than friendship.
"You can't save her..." HE whispered.
"Yes they can!" The little girl shouted.
"No they can't Madalyn!" Simon shouted back, "You are bound to her just like I am! You can feel it too! There's no saving her..." he snapped.
"That man can! He has the power of the Goddess Velissa!" The ghost girl, Madalyn shouted, as she pointed to Leo.
Simon froze, while the rest of the group looked confused. While Leo looked freaked out, how did she know.
"I spoke with a Goddess but I don't have her power." Leo spoke trying to defend himself.
"Yes you do!" Madalyn shouted.
