Chapter 299

"What if that's not the case?" Shui Bing'er asked with concern.

She had learned from Ye Feng that even if a god wished to resurrect the dead, it came at a steep price.

To bring someone back from the dead, a god would need to draw upon their origin power.

This origin power was akin to a Spirit Master's cultivation or a person's very life force. Using it would result in tremendous harm to one's spiritual foundation and physical essence.

So while a god could revive someone, they would rarely choose to.

"That is my destiny," Bo Sanxi replied, smiling gently.

"But... why don't you ask Feng for help?" Shui Bing'er asked, puzzled.

Ye Feng was no ordinary god—he was a creator god. He could bring anything into existence, so reviving Bo Sanxi would be within his power. Yet Bo Sanxi never once asked for his help.

"You and I are both women," Bo Sanxi said, her voice calm. "Do you need me to spell it out?"

Shui Bing'er paused, then her eyes widened with realization. "You don't want your relationship with Feng to be stained by self-interest. You accepted his pursuit but chose not to become his woman—because you want your love to be pure. Is that it?"

Bo Sanxi nodded slightly.

"That's one of the reasons," she said softly. "But more importantly, Feng doesn't use the power of creation recklessly. He has his own principles. If I asked him to resurrect me, others might do the same. Then what? Would he resurrect them all? That would spiral out of control. Life and death are part of the natural order. If everyone can return from the dead... wouldn't the world eventually collapse from overpopulation?"

"I never realized you cared about him so deeply," Shui Bing'er said, touched. "You love him more than I do."

"No," Bo Sanxi smiled. "Your love is just as deep. You ascended to the Divine Realm just to support him."

"No, you love him more."

"You love him more."

"Sister, you love him more."

"No, Sister, you love him more."

"Sister, you do."

"Sister, you—"

"Alright!" Bo Sanxi laughed, raising her hand. "Let's not argue about who loves him more. What matters is that we both do. Are you ready?"

Shui Bing'er nodded solemnly. "I'm ready."

Bo Sanxi lifted her scepter. The golden gem embedded at the top radiated a brilliant light, instantly illuminating the entire Sea God Temple.

"Step into the center of the platform."

Shui Bing'er obeyed, walking to the center of the altar.

"It's been a hundred years, great Sea God... my ancestor," Bo Sanxi whispered, gazing skyward. "Now, at long last, I can fulfill the mission you gave me."

She showed no fear—only resolve. A faint golden light rose from beneath her feet as she entered a trance-like state. One by one, her spirit rings appeared, encircling her body with divine might.

Her eyes turned gold. Nine spirit rings expanded outward, each reaching three meters in diameter.

Golden light surged across Sea God Island. The whole island pulsed like a massive formation.

Shui Bing'er was enveloped by the light, and when the six-pointed star beneath her feet ignited, Bo Sanxi body was engulfed in golden flames.

"Sister Xixi!" Shui Bing'er cried, her heart aching.

She knew this was coming, but witnessing it firsthand still tore at her spirit.

Even when we understand life and death, losing someone close will always bring sorrow.

"Sister Bing'er," Bo Sanxi said calmly. "Don't cry. Don't blame yourself. I've eaten everything I wanted to eat these past few days... I've lived a full life. It's time to fulfill my duty.

Even if you hadn't come, someone else would've completed the Nine Trials."

She lifted her arms. A beam of golden light flashed—and in the blink of an eye, Bo Sanxi vanished.

And so did Shui Bing'er.

At the moment of her disappearance, a voice echoed in her mind:

"The Ninth Trial of the Sea God: Sea God's Inheritance—Initiate."

A flash of golden light overwhelmed her senses.

When her vision returned, she was underwater—beneath the vast sea.

Before her stood a colossal temple, ten times larger than the palace of the Heaven Dou Empire.

Clutching the Sea God's Heart, Shui Bing'er passed through the hall's barriers without resistance.

At the far end of the great hall sat a towering figure in a white robe trimmed with gold.

He wore a three-pronged ringed crown, centered with an aquamarine gem.

The man resembled Bo Sanxi spiritual projection—but this was no illusion. This was the real Sea God.

"Poseidon...?" Shui Bing'er whispered, stunned.

He was the one overseeing the inheritance ceremony.

"Why do you not kneel in my presence?" the Sea God asked, his voice thunderous and imposing.

But before Shui Bing'er could speak, a calm voice rang out in Poseidon's mind.

"Why should my woman kneel to you?"

"Hmm?"

The Sea God's eyes narrowed, his divine gaze piercing through the void—locking onto a room deep in Spirit City.

"Ye Feng... even if you've inherited a throne greater than the Supreme God's, you cannot address me with such arrogance," Poseidon growled inwardly.

He quickly combed through the Divine Realm's records—but couldn't identify Ye Feng's godhood.

The divine hierarchy was clear:

Three halos: third-level god.

Five halos: second-level god.

Seven halos: first-level god.

Seven golden halos: Supreme God.

But Ye Feng had ten halos—more than the Supreme God himself.

That alone proved that Ye Feng's divine rank surpassed the highest known level.

Yet his exact divine title remained a mystery—even to the Sea God.

"I'm not here to negotiate," Ye Feng's voice rang again in his mind. "I came to warn you."

"Warn me?" Poseidon's brow furrowed.

He was a first-level god, someone who barely acknowledged the Supreme Gods, let alone accepted warnings.

Ye Feng's next words left no room for interpretation:

"Bo Saixi is my woman. She fulfilled her mission. If you don't revive her, I will ensure you never leave the Divine Realm again."

As the message faded, so too did Ye Feng's spiritual presence.

Poseidon clenched his fists, his face darkening.

"Damn it... he actually threatened me," he muttered. "Xixi is my descendant—how could I possibly abandon her after everything she's done to set me free?"

He exhaled heavily, then glanced back at the altar.

"But still... just what god has he inherited? His spiritual power reached this temple even across realms..."
