Carminda and Jacqueline were on their way to find the hut which Aunt Maria had told them about.
It was somewhere in the bush nearby and a wise woman reportedly lived there. A young girl was accompanying them.
She spoke little English, but enough for the three of them to understand one another sufficiently.
They walked alongside a river for about twenty minutes, before turning into a footpath. Then they walked for about ten minutes more, before they saw the brown hut ahead of them.
Aunt Maria had advised them not to be afraid. The young girl would remain outside the hut and wait for them to finish up with their consultancy.
At the door of the hut they stood and waited for the girl to knock. She called out instead. It sounded like some kind of announcement in Portuguese. The door was opened by a middle-aged, petite lady, with dark hair and a curious look on her face.
The girl explained something to her which made her smile warmly at her guests.
