CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE: MELISSA

Chapter Twenty-Five: Melissa.

OVIE pov.

My eyes moved over to see Zeph standing a few meters in front of me. In his hand, he held a ball of green light or so I called it. But anyways,it made me to understand that it was Zeph that had thrust the green light at the creature.

Zeph stood right in front me. He was ready to protect me at all cost. He was like a fierce warrior. Maybe that's the reason why, the spirit rabbits made him their leader. He is ever courageous to fight, despite how he finds his opponent.

Birds hovered around the air as Inka emerged from the direction the attack had thrown him into. His glowing red eyes shot fear into my being. His two hands held dark- red balls each. They seem to be his energy or something.

"You little spirit!" Inka spat out with anger.

For once, I could see Zeph flinch but he regained posture.

"I won't let you hurt this human. The old lady brought him to the forest for a reason. I know he should not have come out of the hut but he has learnt his lesson" Zeph says, his tone was that of a pleading tone.

"I won't, he has a vital soul essence" Inka said as he came closer. "It has been long since I had my hands on a human soul essence"

Inka's sayings really confused me. I had a vital soul essence. What's a soul essence?

"Now get out of the way let me finish off my prey" Inka says with a mischievous grin.

Zeph didn't back off. He was ready to take any attack. Zeph's stubbornness really angered Inka that he thrust a brigade of dark red balls at Zeph. Zeph skillfully dodged the dark red balls. He was so fast as he dodged the attacks.

His moves made me doubt the possibility of Zeph actually being a rabbit.

Zeph leaped up in the air and thrust a ball of green light at Inka. Inka defended the attack with his own ball of dark red. The collision of both magical attacks sent everything and everyone flying to a distance.

I who was watching from a nearby bush, was sent flying and I hit my head on a tree root. Pain shot through my head but it was bearable. Looking around, Zeph was lying on the ground. Was he dead?

No he wasn't. He was extremely weak from all the fighting and collision of magic. Inka emerged again from a bush. His glowing eyes seems to fading.

"You see, you can't defeat me. I would still have my prey whether you like or not" Inka shot at the weak Zeph a mocking laughter. " If the old lady really wanted this human to be safe, she should be talked some sense into him"

Inka gave an evil growl that sent more shivers into me.

The beast slowly kicked Zeph earning a groan from Zeph.

"Human. ..... Ta..ke.. this.... Run!!!" Zeph spat out weakly at me.

No one needed to tell me to run. My legs immediately started running at the direction that lead to the hut. I could hear Inka giving an angry growl.

Maybe this is the opportunity for me to escape. But I messed it up. Without even looking properly, my right leg hits a tree stump. That shot me a lot of pain. I turned to look back to see if Inka was pursuing me, but he stood were he was.

Holding my right leg, I hopped on my left leg but the next thing I met was the ground. Inka gave a laugh of mockery that irritated me.

Zeph gave a sigh of disappointment. I knew what was in his mind. Why is it that, any time I try to escape from danger I always end up falling to the ground. It's a little bit of embarrassment. Trying to run away from danger but always falling down.

"Please Inka, do not hurt this human" Zeph pleaded but it all fell on deaf ears.

Inka approached me majestically. But was stopped by the vines the trees and plants that formed a cage. I immediately understood that Zeph used his last energy in making vines of trees and plants in caging Inka.

Inka tried to break free from the vines that tied him down, but to no avail. He let out a growl and created dark-red ball that shaped into a sword. With the sword, he cut down all the vines that held him down. He lung right at me and grabbed me with his hand.

It was like I was frozen with fear, cause I could neither run nor talk. Zeph hit his head on the ground like he was disappointed at himself that he wasn't able to protect me. Inka let out a victorious laughter. But it was short lived.

Suddenly,an arrow that emitted blue light flew with an incredible speed and struck Inka's hand. Inka let out a loud yelp, dropping me on the ground. My butt hits the hard ground, there was pain but it was bearable.

Inka looked around in search of the individual that had shot him the arrow. His glowing eyes moved around searching for the unknown intruder on his prey.

Just as expected,an old owl gave a loud hoot and landed a few feet away from Zeph. The old owl had a big size, such large creature that was even larger than me with thin yellow eyes.

I immediately recognized the owl. It was the old owl that had told Naagin and I about the old lady at the hut. The old owl had not changed much and it seemed to have also recognized me. It gave a friendly smile and I couldn't help but smile back.

A Lady with a bow in hand leaped down from the owl's back. Her jet blue hair added so much to her beauty. She had pinkish, plump breasts that would make any man follow her like a bee. Her plump breasts was almost the same as Naagin's.

Her eyes were awesomely blue. Her slender figure would suit any man's desires. Her lips were pink and full. But if she was to be compared with Naagin, I would say that Naagin is more beautiful than her.

Inka flinched at her presence. He was so chaken by her presence that he took two steps back. He bowed his wolfish head slightly. The lady approached both I and Inka.

"Old owl, take Zeph back to his hiding spot. He seems to be weak" the lady said with an average girlish voice.

"Yes, lady Melissa" the owl picked up Zeph with it's claws and went up in the air.

Melissa,is that her name? Maybe,yes.

The Melissa lady turned her gaze to me then at Inka. She frowned. Maybe she found out that I'm a human.

"Aren't you one of the humans the old lady brought to her hut?" Melissa asked directing the question to me.

I tried saying something but nothing came out. She smiled. Her smile made her more pretty.

"Inka,it seems like you are after the soul essence of this human. Am I right?" Inka nodded at her question.

She walked up to me,took my hand and pulled me up.

"I'll take you back to her hut and I hope this serves a lesson to you not to leave the hut" she says as she widens her smile "Inka,go over to your abode and do not try to deceive this human into leaving the hut"

Inka gave a growl at how disappointed he is. He leaps into the air and disappears. Melissa chuckled seeing my confused look. She puts my arm under her armpit and started dragging me to the hill that was a few miles away.

"You look cute when you are confused" she said while dragging me.

The way she held would have made people think that she was my girlfriend. Imagine if Naagin sees me and her , she would be totally heart broken.

"What?" I groaned.

She chuckled more.

"I'm Melissa and you are.."

"Ovie"

"What a cute name for a cute and handsome chick like you" she cast me a seductive grin.

I know she was lying. My name isn't that cute.

We got to the foot of the hill shortly, with my arm still tucked in her armpit.

"Thanks for bringing me back to the hut"I said removing my arm from her armpit. "But I didn't get to know you. Who are you really?"

She took my hand and dragged me to the root of a tree. She tapped a place for me to sit and I sat down.

"I'm Melissa, like I earlier said" she says.

"Melissa? So are some kind of a spirit of spirit human or something like that?" I asked which earned a chuckle from her.

"No silly, I'm an immortal and also HIJIRAR'S first daughter" she answered slapping my broad chest.

"Who is HIJIRAR?"I asked the obvious.

"HIJIRAR is the powerful and most worshipped god in Casablanca. He is literally known as the snake god. You should probably know who the snake god is" I nodded at her reply.

"So, Hijirar is the name of the snake god" I voiced out.

"Yeah"

"But I thought, the snake god didn't have a mate. How come does he have a daughter?" I looked sternly at her eyes.

"That's just rumour. Actually, he did have a mate which happens to be Arizona"

Arizona! That rang a bell in my head. According to what I know, Arizona was the former priestess of Umuguor community before Old Lady Papirus came into service.

Adding all the left over pieces, I came to a conclusion that HIJIRAR who is the snake god,had an affair with his priestess. Resulting in both of them falling in love. Thier love must have brought two girls into existence.

If Melissa is the first daughter, then who is the second.

"My younger sister who I never got to meet was declared the chosen one. My mom, Arizona told me she left my sister in Umuguor community during the war after being told by Hijirar that my sister was the chosen one" Melissa says sensing my thoughts.

"Why did Hijirar make his second daughter the chosen one?" I asked.

"Hijirar, my father does anything that pleases him. He left the Umuguor forest to my care and for the past 18 years I have been the one ruling over the spirits in the forest" she stood up and pulled me up.

"The old lady and your girlfriend left for Umuguor community. Am I right?" She asked which earned her a raised eyebrow from me.

"How did you know that old lady Papirus and Naagin visited the ruins of Umuguor community?" I asked.

"The spirits of the forest reported it to me and besides the bodies of the three men that brought you to the forest are being thrown out of the forest" she gave me a smirk.

"Oh yeah, Naagin deceived those three men into bringing to the forest for safety" I gave her a smirk in return.

"Your girlfriend must be really smart"

"How did you know she is my girlfriend" I asked amused.

"The crocodile told me" she laughed at the look I had on my face.

I laughed also.

"You better get up there or else, your girlfriend and the old lady would be giving your butt a some strokes or maybe scolding for going down the hill" she said pointing at the hut.

"Yeah, nice meeting you anyways. Lady Melissa and hope you get to meet your sister" I said genuinely.

"Aww... That's so sweet of you" she said and waved me goodbye. "Anyways, you reak of snake"

"What?" I asked.

This is the second time I am told that I reak or smell like snake.

"Never mind. Nice meeting a handsome human like you. Your girlfriend must be proud of having a great catch like you" she chuckled at her remark.

"No, I'm the lucky one" I said.

@@@

Phew! Finally in the confines of the hut. After having a sweet chat with an immortal, the daughter of Hijirar the snake god. I felt highly honoured talking to the first daughter of a god. She must be a very powerful immortal for a spirit like Inka to back down.

I slumped into the couch allowing my whole weight to end up in it. What an adventurous day and I can't wait for Naagin and the old lady to get back cause I got to tell them about how I spent my day.

Wow! What a pretty sunset.
