The noise of heels stepping on the floor came from the corridor, before stopping just outside the door.

The teacher on the podium paused her words, following the rest of the classroom to look at the door, before she walked it.

Ms Moore opened the door, and she came face to face with a face sporting a gentle smile, making one of her own appear reflexively in response.

Evelyn nodded, her brown eyes rippling with the softness inherent to her:
