Chapter 4079: The Giant Bird That Squeezed In

"Lifeforms that dwell in chaos."

Lin Moyu muttered to himself, completely unconcerned about having been instantly killed. He was long used to dying after all, he could always revive, so dying a few times was no big deal. In fact, he was even willing to be killed, as it allowed him to experience things firsthand.

He focused on the power that had just struck his body a force that crossed an infinite distance, blasted through the rift, and landed on him. Although some of its power was diminished by the world's restrictions and the effects of the Land of Severed Daos, it remained formidable. Most importantly, it contained a trace of chaotic energy.

All these discoveries confirmed Lin Moyu's suspicions.

He touched his body with a finger. Though he had already been reborn, a trace of the attacker's power lingered. He guided this power out, and it formed a rune. The rune resembled one he had seen on the Red Stone Emperor's body, and then it continued to evolve turning into a giant bird.

He recalled hearing a faint bird cry earlier; it was this creature that had attacked him.

"So it really was a giant bird. I'll remember you this debt will be settled one day."

Memorizing the creature's aura, Lin Moyu summoned the power of death to erode the last trace of its presence. When he eventually entered chaos, he would be sure to have a word with this being.

At the same time, Lin Moyu found it amusing was the world he lived in actually a bird's nest? Why did he keep encountering all sorts of birds? First the Origin Bird, then the Red Stone Emperor's bird, and now this one. Was it that he'd entered a bird's nest, or was chaos itself full of birds?

"Never mind that, I need to find the Spirit Demon Emperor."

Lin Moyu dismissed these stray thoughts and pressed on. Several more days passed without incident no more rifts appeared. His undead servants continued to cross the boundary into the Great Wilderness, bringing back all sorts of information. Compared to the Land of Severed Daos, the Great Wilderness was far more perilous.

A month went by in a flash, and Lin Moyu estimated he was halfway through his journey. The dynamic map of the Land of Severed Daos was nearly complete, and he had begun to discern a pattern in the shifting boundary. Looking at a single change, it seemed random, but from a broader perspective, there was order: expansions and contractions would start from afar, gradually increase, reach a limit, then shrink back to nothing. The entire Land of Severed Daos resembled a long, curving arc, constantly shifting direction seemingly straight, but actually winding, even looping. If one simply kept moving in a single direction, one would eventually touch the boundary and be transported into the Great Wilderness, without any warning something even eternals couldn't sense. That's why they couldn't traverse the Land of Severed Daos. With all Daos suppressed and strength diminished, it was considered the most dangerous place, hence its fearsome reputation.

But for Lin Moyu, this was no problem at all. With undead servants scouting ahead, he could always find the right path.

"What's this…"

On the thirty sixth day, his undead servants reported something unusual they had found a strange place. It wasn't on the main route, but appeared after a sharp turn, like a hidden chamber off the proper path. Lin Moyu could have missed it entirely if he'd kept going straight. It was like a secret cave along the right route, and what was inside piqued his curiosity.

He hurried over and found a vast space filled with countless rifts tens of thousands, spaced every few kilometers, varying in size, like a rift cluster. Until now, he'd only seen two rifts; here, he saw tens of thousands at once. An Yuyan had never mentioned such a place, so clearly even the eternals had never been here.

Lin Moyu observed that these rifts were somewhat different from the ones he'd seen before. Some of them constantly exhaled wisps of energy energy he recognized as chaotic energy. The chaotic energy merged into the space and was quickly transformed by the world into Great Dao origin energy. As it turned into origin energy, some faint aura was drawn away by other rifts. The whole process resembled breathing: useful chaotic energy was inhaled and transformed, while the waste was exhaled as… Soul Devourers!

Lin Moyu suddenly understood the origin of Soul Devourers. If the world was a living being, this was where it breathed, and its energy came from here.

"Who are you?" a voice suddenly called out.

Lin Moyu looked up. In the deepest part, behind many rifts, sat a person dressed in black, eyes glowing faintly, watching Lin Moyu through the rifts. He had hidden his presence so well that Lin Moyu hadn't noticed him until he spoke.

Just as Lin Moyu was about to reply, the man spoke again: "Conceal your aura, quickly!" His tone was urgent. Lin Moyu instinctively complied, withdrawing all his aura and silently blending into the darkness of a corner. He also recalled the nearby undead servants, becoming invisible. With his level of soul, as long as he stayed still, not even an eternal could detect him.

He realized the man was doing the same hidden in the darkness, motionless.

Among the tens of thousands of rifts, one suddenly expanded, swelling rapidly as a torrent of chaotic energy poured in hundreds of times more than usual. Then, a four winged, two headed giant bird squeezed through the rift, looked around, and let out a piercing screech. The space twisted and warped, even the rifts themselves contorting. Chaotic energy surged from the bird, crashing through the area like a tsunami.

Under the terrifying aura, Lin Moyu's heart trembled. This bird came from chaos and was immensely powerful, surely beyond the level of an eternal. But why would a chaotic lifeform come here? In this world, it was basically invincible.

Just then, a rumbling sounded in the air. Lin Moyu saw countless divine runes light up, weaving into a terrifying formation. Vast Great Dao origin energy surged from all sides, rushing at the bird. This power was just as fearsome as the bird's no weaker. The converging force formed a cage, trapping the bird, while the nearest rift expanded, unleashing a terrifying suction that, together with the formation, dragged the bird back through the rift.

Once the bird was gone, the space calmed, the rift shrank, and the formation faded from view.

The voice spoke again: "Who are you?"

Lin Moyu looked at the man. "Lin Moyu greets senior."

After a moment, the man said quietly, "Come over here and talk."
