Chapter 20: We Have to Stop Meeting this Way

Nothing could have prepared Angela for what, or who, she found when she walked into Gideon Gulliver's office. She froze mid-step, stunned at the sight of Griffin dressed in a pair of faded blue jeans and a sweatshirt with Yale printed across the front. She remembered the sweatshirt, its cottony-softness caressing her cheek many times as she laid her head against his chest. "There you are!" Gideon exclaimed, oblivious to Angela's emotional reaction to his guest. Peter hadn't missed it, though. He was watching Angela carefully, a concerned expression on his face.

"I want you to meet Dr. Griffin Graystone," Gideon continued blithely. "He has generously offered to donate his time and money to a new medical clinic that will service all the clients at the shelters."

Angela's heart pounded so loudly in her ears that she could barely hear Gideon's voice.
