Chapter 28: Griffin’s POV A Hot Morning

Griffin had to admit he was smitten with Rory. Even sick, he was a sweet little boy. He had his mother's curious and gentle nature. Griffin was glad the medication had relieved Rory's symptoms. When he'd seen the worry on Angela's face, he wanted to take her in his arms and make everything better.

She'd always had that effect on him. He wanted to protect her from the harshness of the world. When her mother died, they talked on the telephone late at night for hours, her crying, him comforting her. Yesterday it had been Rory he wanted to protect. Watching him struggle for breath had torn his heart in two.

He'd hidden his feelings for Angela's sake, assuring her everything would be fine. But the truth was, he was as relieved as Angela when her baby breathed easily again. While he was a man of medicine, when it came to Angela, he led with his heart rather than his training.
