Chapter 29: Beg for It

“Wait a minute,” Griffin said to Angela as they left her apartment. He grasped her arm, gently pulling her toward him as he kissed her in the open doorway.

“I’m already late for work,” Angela teased, pretending to resist him. But when he bent down to nuzzle her neck, she dropped her head onto his shoulder. “Maybe we should have an early lunch,” she murmured, her voice sultry.

At the sound of a door opening, Angela jumped to attention. She straightened her skirt as Ted appeared in the hallway.

“Hey,” Griffin said, nodding casually at Ted, who looked surprised to see them.

“Going in to work late today?” Ted asked Angela. “Is Rory okay?”

“He’s fine,” Angela assured him as she smoothed her hair. He went to New York with my dad for a few days. I needed some time alone.”

“I can imagine,” Ted said, looking unconvinced.

Griffin looked at his gold watch. “We had better hurry if we’re meeting Peter at eleven,” he said.
