Chapter 31: Another Late-Night Visit

When Peter’s phone rang in the car, he quickly answered it. It was his husband, George, and Angela blew Peter a kiss to pass on to him. She pulled out her own phone and engrossed herself in her email to give them some privacy, but she easily followed their conversation. Peter’s tone toward his lover was warm and jovial, and Angela basked in their teasing banter.

“George says six for dinner tomorrow,” Peter said, cupping his hand over the speaker on his phone.”

“What color wine?” Angela asked.

“Peter asked George the question, while Angela waited. “George says don’t bring anything except Jack and Rory. We have plenty to drink.”

“Tell him my dad and Rory are in New York,” Angela said. “So you’ll have me all to yourselves.”

Peter relayed the message to George and then muttered something that Angela couldn’t understand.

“Hey, stop whispering behind my back,” Angela teased.

“George just said he’s looking forward to catching up with you,” Peter said innocently.
