Chapter 49: Her Day in Court

Angela woke the next morning to the smell of coffee. She quickly checked Griffin’s side of the bed, disappointed to find it empty. She pulled on her robe and padded into the kitchen where she found Griffin sitting at the table, spooning eggs into Rory’s mouth. Angela paused in the doorway taking in the scene, her heart soaring with happiness as she watched her son giggle at his father.

“Any chance I can get some of that coffee?” Angela asked, sweeping into the kitchen. She paused to kiss Rory’s head before wrapping herself around Griffin.

“With pleasure,” Griffin said, embracing her before heading to the cupboard for a mug. “We’ve been waiting for you. I made pancakes and eggs.” He ruffled Rory’s hair. “My son seems to like them.”

“Like father, like son,” Angela said proudly.

“He sure can pack away his food,” said Griffin with a laugh as he spooned another mouthful of eggs into Rory’s mouth.
