Chapter 51: A Family Reunion

The next morning, Angela woke early, and quietly slipping out of bed, found her father sitting in the kitchen. “Is Rory still sleeping?” she asked, pouring herself a cup of coffee, and joining him at the table.

“Like a log,” Jack answered, his eyes on his newspaper. “No wonder. He chased the pigeons through the park all afternoon." He coughed and lowered his voice. "I take it Griffin stayed overnight?"

“Yes, Angela said, we had a good chance to talk,” Angela said, careful to keep her left hand hidden at her side. “We ironed a lot of things out. Thanks again for taking Rory to the park so we could have time together.”

“I’m glad you finally told Griffin,” Jack said. “It was the right thing to do, and I'm glad you two have come to terms, but—” Angela caught a tinge of disapproval in his voice as he glanced toward her bedroom.

“You can’t blame him for wanting to be near his son,” Angela cried. “He’s already missed so much time with him.”
