Chapter 56: Panic Rising

“The police are here!” Griffin called to Angela, who was sitting crying on her bed. Gina and Peter were trying their best, with little success, to comfort her. She leapt to her feet at the sound of Griffin’s voice. She’d changed into a pair of jeans and a sweater, her wedding day suddenly feeling like it was a faint, pleasant dream.

What did they say?” she asked, her tone frantic. “Did they find him?”

“They just got here,” Griffin said, putting his hands on her shoulders. “They’re going to need to ask us a lot of questions.” His eyes scoured her face, as if trying to reach the part of her that was able to focus. “Do you think you’re up for it? It’s important if we want to help find Rory.”

Angela swiped the backs of her hands roughly across her eyes, drying her tears as she nodded grimly at Griffin. “But I don’t know anything. The last time I saw him was last night with Cookie.”
