Chapter 63: Trapped!

While Griffin made a few phone calls, Jack carried the suitcases up from the storage base in the basement of the building. Angela, her heart filled with hope, grabbed several outfits from Rory’s closet along with two of his favorite stuffed animals. She lined the smallest suitcase with the blanket from his crib, and packed it neatly with his clothing, toys, and a few books. When they found him, she wanted to surround him with comforting and familiar items.

“I just got off the phone with the captain,” Griffin said, striding into the room, his tone tinged with disappointment.

“What’s wrong?” Angela asked, clutching a teddy bear to his chest.

“Nothing serious,” Griffin assured her. “But the jet is undergoing some routine maintenance. Since we had nothing booked on the schedule, the mechanics took advantage of the opportunity to schedule the work.

Angela did her best to hide her disappointment. “How long will it take?”
