‘’Marry me.’’ 

Leona glared at the man who had the audacity to say those words, ‘’I can’t wait to kill you and you have the audacity to ask me to marry you. Aren’t you afraid I would kill you when you are sleeping?”

‘’I don’t mind.’’ 

‘’Get lost!’’ she snapped. 

A few days later: 
The man lowered his head, looking deep into her eyes, his gaze sincere, ‘’Marry me.’’

Leona looked at the man speechlessly and waved her hand, ‘’You are my ex-husband.’’ 

Although they were on better terms now, but there was no way they were getting romantically entangled ever again. 

An eternity later: 
‘’Won’t you marry me?” 

Leona looked at the man who was standing at a little distance from her, tears brimmed in her eyes as she spoke, ‘’I am in a pathetic state and I might implicate you too. I don’t know what’s happening to me and I don’t know what the future holds. I don’t even know who I am or what my past is…’’ 

The man covered the distance between them and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer, ‘’Do I look like I care?” 

As his words fell, her lips were captured in a fiery kiss that knocked the breath out of her.

''There is no need for you to be scared. You have undergone a lot these days so it is normal for you to be gravely affected by them. But it will be fine. Dr. Davis is an old family friend and I invited him over for you so just go with the flow,'' Svetlana approached Leona and whispered in a soft voice.

Leona did not know whether to laugh or cry.

"I am fine actually. Uh... I am not that sick...''

''What do you mean?" Svetlana frowned, ''Your eyes are unfocused when you talk, you have gotten you forget things like... you told me you were showering but you came out of the bathroom, completely dry, then you even got yourself a cat...''

In the end, Svetlana convinced Leona a couple of times to be frank with Dr. Davis before she left the room, ''I and your uncle will be right outside if you need us,'' she nodded at the old man before walking out.
