“Please be my date on Saturday night’s party…” Mr. Easton Gonzalez said after submitting the report I had written earlier. The yellow folder he was handing me back hung in the air as I stared at him in shock.
"Excuse me?" I shrieked, my gaze fixed on his. "I'm not going on a date with you!" I exclaimed, glaring at my boss.
“Don’t worry Miss Bell, it’s a fake date…” my boss informed me and I felt like I was splashed with cold water on the face.
Easton Gonzalez, the CEO of Gonzalez Steel Manufacturing and Industries asked his personal assistant Chloe Bell to be his fake date on their company’s Silver Anniversary to annoy and upset his ex-wife who cheated on him with his best friend. I had been soundly asleep when I was startled awake by a series of loud knocks on the door. After yawning and stretching my limbs, I got up and put on my robe before opening the door.


Maria, who was smiling and holding a tray in her hands, was standing at the doorway of the room. As soon as she saw me, she lifted the tray just a little bit to show that the food for my breakfast is ready.


‘‘Thank you, Maria…’’ I couldn't help but crack a grin as I took the tray from her hands. ‘‘Would you like to come and join me?’’


She gave a friendly smile and waved her hand in a 'no' gesture, then rubbed her tummy indicating that she had finished her breakfast.


‘‘Okay… I said with a thumbs up. ‘‘Thank you…’’


She bowed her head respectfully before leaving while waving goodbye to me.


I closed the door with my hips before carrying the tray to the table before I entered the bathroom with purposeful strides in order to wash my face and teeth before going about my day.
