KATRINA'S P O V
As we strolled around the mall, we passed by a jewelry store, and I couldn’t help but think again of the necklace that Cohen had asked me to bring for him. The recollection caused a tightening in my chest, and I quickly averted my gaze away from the store.
A hand just gripped mine, and I snapped my head to the man walking beside me, looking at him, puzzled. ‘‘Come with me…’’
My mouth hung open when he dragged me towards the jewelry store, groaning aloud when my face hit against his shoulder after he suddenly made a halt in front of the glass shelf.
I ignored the slight pain it brought to my face because my eyes instantly shifted to the woman who was holding a beautiful necklace that was almost identical to the one I had brought for Cohen. ‘‘This is so beautiful...’’ she commented, and then she reached into her wallet and brought out a check.
