"So it was you?" Sun Jack's gaze made Steelheart feel as if his back was being pricked with needles, even though he was clad in heavy armor weighing several tons.
Just as he was about to say something with a fierce expression, Abu stood up to defend his brother. "It wasn't him, he doesn't have the brains for it."
Seemingly to ease relations with Sun Jack, Abu said, "Jack, it's not that we don't listen to you, but you have to set the rules first, right? Clarify what can and cannot be done?"
"We can't just have you suddenly decide to ban something whenever you feel like it, right? If you don't tell us, how would we know what we can and cannot do?"
Sun Jack took a deep breath and looked at Abu very seriously, "Really? You're so clever, you really don't know what can and cannot be done? If you didn't know it shouldn't be done, then why did you destroy the evidence?"
"You've all been with me for so long, do you really not know where I come from? Don't you know my character? Don't you know what things I take seriously?"
"Even if you don't know, can't the analytic AI in your brains figure it out, huh?"
At this point, Sun Jack stood up, walked over to Abu, and gently stroked her fiery red hair. "Or are you doing this just to test my limits?"
Abu clenched her sharp teeth, forcefully shook off Sun Jack's hand, and her seductive face was full of anger. "Hey hey hey! Why are you saying it was me? You act as if you're certain it was me?"
"Alright, since you say it wasn't you, then it wasn't you. I believe you," Sun Jack said as he touched her ears soothingly, bowed his head to kiss her, and then returned to his seat.
"Everything leaves traces, even if cleaned up thoroughly, I could still find out who did it if I really looked into it, but I won't. I'll just burn it all."
"This time, no matter who did it, I can pretend I didn't see it, but this is an exception."
"We won't repeat this," Sun Jack's words made almost everyone sigh in relief.
"But," Sun Jack's word made everyone's breathing pause slightly. "Ladies and gentlemen, I am serious. This really is an exception. If there's a next time, I will treat that person as my enemy."
"I really don't want to get to that point, so don't push me."
At this moment, Abu, having sat back down, spoke up, "You won't let us be immortal, what about you?"
"Me?" Sun Jack couldn't help but laugh, "Do you think I am afraid of death? Rest assured, whatever happens, I absolutely won't use that technology."
"If you can do that, then my brother and I will absolutely support you, but there's a problem, you won't use this technology, I believe you, but will your clones also not use this technology? Will all the downloaded Sun Jacks also not use this technology?"
"Among so many Sun Jacks, are all like you, absolutely certain? Is there really not one Sun Jack who thinks differently?"
Sun Jack was about to say absolutely not, but the sore spot of Father Sun Jieke stopped him. However, Sun Jack quickly spoke again, "I said, this is an exception. If there is a next time, I will treat that person as my enemy, even if that person is myself."
Hearing Sun Jack say this, Abu nodded satisfactorily, raised her red-heeled shoes, and sat back down. "Okay, as long as you treat everyone the same, otherwise I would feel like there's no difference from before."
Sun Jack looked at Abu, "But you're right, I really should write down everything that shouldn't be done, make it into company regulations for everyone to follow. This is no longer just a verbal agreement; we need a complete system."
Not long after Sun Jack spoke, Tapai sent out a list already prepared to everyone's neural systems, recording various restrictions.
These included not only banning the use of the Holy Grail's immortality technology and personal gains from power, but also detailed punishments for various infractions, from reduced shareholdings to the most severe punishment—death.
All of this was to prevent the corruption of capital. Sun Jack knew this situation wouldn't last long, but he hoped it would hold together till the next generation grew up.
Faced with Sun Jack's sudden announcement, everyone's expressions varied. Sun Jack extended his mechanical hand to extinguish the cigarette at his lips, then opened his mouth to speak again, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is not just a limitation for you, this is a limit for everyone, including me, including all my clones and even AI like UO."
"Everyone's from Metropolis, and though Metropolis is known as Freedom City, everyone should understand what the old Metropolis was like: strict freedom is real freedom, chaotic freedom is just disorder."
In response to Sun Jack's decision, AA was always the first to cheer, raising her hands high and shouting, "Right! Boss is right. No matter what the Boss does, we AA will wholeheartedly support the Boss."
Then it was the representative of Liberation Theology, the Priest, and the AIs who stayed out of issues that did not concern them.
"I agree."
"We have no objections."
Led by them, everyone present agreed, and then the meeting ended, with everyone gradually leaving.
But Sun Jack took a deep breath, he knew that not everyone truly agreed; though they appeared to consent, only they themselves knew whether it was real agreement or feigned.
But Sun Jack didn't care about these things; he had made his stance clear. If anyone still didn't understand, then they shouldn't blame him for not sparing old comrades.
"If someone really doesn't understand, are you really prepared to kill them?" Tapai asked.
Without responding, Sun Jack, who was very familiar with Tapai, already knew his answer.
Some things were more important than his own life, let alone the lives of others.
"Shall I help you with that?" Tapai's offer made Sun Jack look up at him.
"You? What help can you offer?" Sun Jack lit another cigarette and took a strong drag.
"With your current status, you don't need to offend people personally. For example, let me handle these matters. If people below really hold a grudge, they'll only resent me."
"If one day things blow up, you can just throw me out to calm the crowd. See, how good is that?" Tapai said, using an emoticon he hadn't used in a long time.
"Where did you learn this from?" Sun Jack looked at Tapai in disbelief.
"From history books. The Emperors of the past did this, and now you're like the local tyrant of the entire Utopia. Some imperial tactics still need to be employed. If you think I'm not up to it, then you can use Linda Linda and the Priest. Just say the word, and they'll agree."
