The people from the Third Class didn't say a word, and Sun Jack took that as tacit approval. In this situation, their silence probably didn't mean disagreement but fear of taking responsibility.
Sun Jack understood that things were different now compared to the past. Some matters that couldn't be discussed before were now negotiable.
Just as they turned to board the Hover Car, the guy seemed to remember something and suddenly turned back to Sun Jack.
"Right, to ensure a long-lasting friendship with the Third Class, we'd like to share some news: the other two sides are planning big moves soon."
After he finished speaking, he immediately got into the car, leaving Sun Jack with a puzzled expression.
The more Sun Jack thought about it, the more his brows furrowed. He didn't think those words were spoken casually. It seemed there was something going on, and the "other two sides" he mentioned must be TT and DF23.
"Could they be targeting me? No way, right? I haven't shown any hostility toward them. In fact, we just signed several trade agreements recently. Could all that have been a diversion?"
The more Sun Jack thought about it, the more uneasy he became. He decided to take this matter seriously and immediately turned to Tapai.
"Have people keep an eye on TT and DF23, physically and online, using whatever means necessary to find out what they're up to."
In the following days, Sun Jack hardly slept well, hoping everything would finally settle down without any more trouble.
Though he said that, the various military units were still prepping for battle early, just in case those two groups were planning something and needed a swift response.
One late night, Sun Jack suddenly sat up in bed, lit a cigarette with a snap, his mind racing with unease.
"I never said I wanted to completely eliminate the capitalists on Earth. I'm not as radical as the Priest, right? They shouldn't be ganging up on me."
Linda, who was sleeping beside him, felt the blanket being pulled away and immediately frowned and turned aside.
"Go home to sleep, I've got things to deal with."
Sun Jack kicked her lightly and stood up to connect with intermediaries from both factions. Regardless, he would start with an official probe.
Linda, completely naked, sleepily sat up, turned around, walked out, casually found another bedroom, and slipped back into sleep with someone else.
The communication connected quickly. Even though it was the middle of the night, both sides took it very seriously. However, no matter how Sun Jack tried, even with various analysis software, he couldn't gather any information.
Facing him, both sides seemed respectful yet somewhat absent-minded.
Just when Sun Jack had finished his third pack of cigarettes, Tapai walked in.
"Any news?"
"Yeah, there's news. The Poet was found; he seems to have formed a new band."
Hearing this, Sun Jack was particularly exasperated. "Fuck! I don't care where that lunatic chooses to die. I'm asking about the news on TT and DF23!"
As soon as Sun Jack finished speaking, Saotome appeared in front of him in a holographic projection.
"We found him for you, don't worry, their issues have nothing to do with you, their conflict is escalating, and the cyber war has already begun; a hot war may break out soon."
"What? Conflict?" Hearing this, Sun Jack was suddenly stunned. For all these years, he had thought any conspiracy was aimed at him, but this time, it surprisingly didn't concern him.
That feeling, well, was slightly disappointing.
"That so." Sun Jack's heart settled back down, "Can you find out why they have this conflict?"
"I don't know, at least on the cyber level, there's no trace." Saotome said and then disappeared.
At that moment, they still interacted according to the previous agreement, as long as Sun Jack ensured their safety, they would in turn serve as the first barrier in Sun Jack's network.
"So, after all that, it's just this, making me worry for nothing. But what did Third Class mean when they hinted this to me as they left?" Sun Jack thought and directly opened the analysis software and input the information.
Quickly, the analysis software provided an answer, "Offering goodwill, they are happy to see you expand your influence during their conflict."
"But why is that?" Looking out the window at the peaceful lights of countless homes in Metropolis, Sun Jack couldn't understand why people from Third Class would show him goodwill at this time.
Somehow, Sun Jack found that since his success, there have only been good people around him, everyone taking special care of him, and all the betrayals and hardships he experienced in Metropolis seemed fake.
"So what are we going to do?" Tapai asked.
Sun Jack turned to look at him, "Go for it. Why not? When there's a benefit to be had, you take it. But let's not get directly involved, let's not draw the fire onto ourselves."
"Let's start with the periphery, start with the military trade. If they want to go to war, we'll sell them weapons and mercenary services. The more fierce the fighting, the more we'll earn."
"When they fight to the death, that's when we reap the benefits like the fisherman who profits from the fight between the snipe and the clam."
Sun Jack had assumed that such a large-scale hot war would need several preludes, but just a few days later, a video of a nuclear bomb explosion spread across the entire internet, and TT versus DF23 climbed to the top of the trending charts.
Various war bloggers and mercenaries hoping to profit from the war quickly departed, seemingly chasing the first big payoff from this surge in interest.
In the past, Sun Jack had always countered FFP, whose main playground was mostly around the European Union, paying little attention to TT centered in South America and DF23 in Africa.
With the outbreak of this war, the whole world map unfolded, giving Sun Jack a comprehensive understanding of the global landscape.
Most of the world revolved around three main powers, interspersed with some independent cities like Metropolis and Himalayas; over a hundred cities and billions of people were fighting to the death in these regions.
The entire war situation was displayed before Sun Jack in the form of strategic maps, with both sides showcasing various unique high-tech right from the start; Sun Jack had his people record everything, as they might need it later.
When he saw a red dot representing a city vanish, Sun Jack's pupils contracted slightly, "They're really going for the kill. What in the world is their conflict about?"
Right as Sun Jack was ordering to deploy more scouts, Tapai tapped his arm, "Hey, we've received a signal from Poet at the frontline location, wanna check it out?"
"Huh? What's he doing going to the battlefield? Turn it over."
Soon, an image appeared before Sun Jack. Amid mountains of corpses and seas of blood, with a guitar slung on his back, a very angry Poet was vigorously shaking a teary-eyed bass player with both hands; it was the first time Sun Jack had ever seen Poet so furious.
Poet fiercely shouted at his bandmates, "What's this about letting go or not letting go? When you can't let go in your heart, maybe others have already let in!"
