Through the perspective of a clone, Sun Jack saw the location where the departing Utopia Expedition Army was stationed.
The silent fleet of spacecraft carriers that obscured the entire sky hovered above a canyon. Suddenly, without any warning, the entire canyon unfolded, revealing an immensely large and entirely mechanical Dissolution Cave before everyone's eyes.
Before Sun Jack could make out anything inside, all the spacecraft carriers, along with the Himalayas, attacked simultaneously. The dazzling laser lights and a series of explosions almost completely covered the entire canyon, not to mention the nuclear bombs that were falling.
Sun Jack didn't know what was happening but, based on experience, assumed it to be a coordinated effort with troops in other locations.
"Third Class still hasn't told us their plan. They just instruct our people on where to go and which direction to attack, nothing else," he muttered. "It's quite clear that, aside from their own people, they trust no one else. Right now, we only know for sure that Three Quarters is indeed engaging with Poet."
Facing Tapai's incessant chatter, Sun Jack just smoked a cigarette and silently watched.
While listening to Tapai's contemplations, Sun Jack reflected on everything that had happened recently and found his thoughts drifting unwittingly.
"Snap, snap, snap," Tapai clapped her hands in front of Sun Jack. Watching him seated in the armchair, she asked, "What on earth are you thinking about? With that look, if you're not constipated on the toilet, you ought to be rapidly pondering something. Is it because of Little B Lamp?"
Sun Jack shook his head, "It's not about her. I don't have the luxury of being distracted by her life and death right now. I am thinking about the overall situation of the battlefield."
"What's there to think about? According to you, unite everything that can be united, then find a way to defeat them. That's all," she retorted.
"No, it's not that simple. If it were, Lan Meng from The Previous Era should have already wiped out Poet. Instead of endlessly debating and finally setting a 1000-year agreement, Poet is surely not so easy to deal with."
"Exactly, that's why I'm contacting the Overlapping AI, to pull more forces to our side."
But Sun Jack, his brow furrowed in concern, shook his head again.
"That's not right. Confrontation is always the last option. Even if we win, many people will die. And after what we've been through, I suddenly thought of a method. I want to give it a try."
In the midst of rapid contemplation, Sun Jack's thoughts accelerated, and when he finally paused, he turned to Tapai. "Open the original network and help me contact Poet."
"What? Are you sure? You're not going to just hurl insults at him again? You've done that twice already; haven't you learned your lesson? Insulting him directly is better than a verbal barrage."
"Who's the boss here, you or me? Just do what I tell you. Why all the useless talk?" Sun Jack glared at her.
"Fine then, you're the boss, you call the shots," Tapai shrugged her shoulders and immediately proceeded.
However, to avoid enemy intrusion, she only activated a single screen in the office and physically isolated the network to minimize the impact.
Yet, when faced with the newly opened network port, Poet showed no reaction. It appeared that he was not inclined to engage in any further undisputed conversations with Sun Jack.
Sun Jack took a deep breath and quickly typed out a line on the screen. "You said you have tried all sorts of methods, but you are wrong. I found a method you've never tried before."
The line that Sun Jack typed finally caught Poet's attention. This time he changed his appearance to a black man, looking worried, and played a quadrilateral drum.
"Jack, we are mortal enemies after all. If you're bored, can you not come to me for a chat? Don't you have any friends to talk to?"
Faced with the sarcastic remark, Sun Jack remained calm. "You don't believe me? You don't believe I've found a method you've never tried?"
The expression on Poet's face turned into a mocking smile as he raised his four hands to strike the drum, producing cheerful music.
"When you attacked Metropolis, didn't you notice? Humans of the past, selfish and greedy, have started to unite—even capitalists controlled by capital."
"So?"
"You said humans are monkeys, acting purely on genetic instincts, but you forgot something. Humans are not inherently selfish. Back when they were still monkeys, to fight against fierce beasts, they would staunchly support and help each other through difficult times."
"Do you know about the Cold War? The ideological conflict between two nuclear superpowers. Capital is profit-driven, yet in such times, capitalists even started to make concessions to workers. In capitalist nations, a normally working person's wage could support an entire family and even keep two dogs."
"During that period, humans were not controlled by capital, but rather they commandeered capital. Capital has always been just a tool."
Hearing this, Poet became interested and was no longer distracted. "Continue."
"Despite the constant threat of nuclear war, under these conditions, human civilization and even technology experienced unprecedented development. The moon landing mission was also a product of this era."
"However, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, this scenario vanished. Capitalists stopped making concessions to workers, and capital once again started to reveal its predatory nature."
"But think about it, if such a situation had been sustained, wouldn't humanity have evolved in a true sense?"
Poet tossed aside his drum. "You don't hate me? I must have killed quite a few of your friends, right?"
"I hate, I loathe you, and I wish to tear you to pieces! But I always remember that confrontation is not an end in itself. As the highest authority of the Utopia Federation, I must not be blinded by hatred when making decisions, and I understand all too well that as a ruler, I need to find a way out for everyone!"
Sun Jack looked at Poet calmly. "Although I don't agree with your views on human nature, you're right about one thing—we can't go down the same old road again. Even if we defeat you, if it's still the same as before, with no difference from the past, it will be meaningless."
"So ever since our confrontation began, I've been thinking, how can we prevent this world from turning as rotten as the past? But then, after all that happened, I suddenly found a new path that had never been tried."
"You, Poet, as the AI enemy that humanity has been long opposing, the Smart Coalition crisis, as long as you exist, there's no need for a life-and-death struggle, just a balance. If you're willing to try this path, we will have a new Cold War, and humanity will remain united. In the process of opposing you, we'll welcome a new evolution."
"I've been trying to find the perfect Utopia. If I really succeed, wouldn't this be our Utopia? Even though this Utopia might be flawed, as long as it can function, a flawed Utopia is still Utopia!"
