Phoebe couldn't help but cover her mouth and giggle. "Do you know what I like most about you?"
Gibson gave a resigned smile and replied, "My good looks, right? You women often just focus on appearances. It'd be better if you paid more attention to what's inside."
"I actually love that shameless side of you, you're really quite bad!"
Gibson just shook his head, speechless.
After Gibson left, his reputation quietly spread throughout the upper echelons of Starfall City society. Under his name, documents about economic development in the North District were released. An important figure had suddenly arrived in Starfall City, marking a key development area in the North District.
Smart businessmen should have already started buying up land in the North District, given that it is a transportation hub for Starfall City, with train stations, high-speed rail, and bus stations. However, facilities like airports and train stations are usually located on the outskirts of a city, not the center. Although real estate development in the city center had reached a bottleneck, with old buildings hard to tear down, the elite still painted grand visions to entrepreneurs and real estate developers, encouraging them to invest in the North.
Despite three years of development, however, the purchasing power in the North remained weak, leading many real estate developers to announce work stoppages within a short period. Selling less than two homes a month was unsustainable for any businessman.
Strangely, though, using the same strategies as before, the outcomes were significantly different this time.
At a high-level meeting room in Davis Group, everyone was discussing this issue. The Starfall City administration had suddenly issued new directives, announcing that an important figure was heavily investing in the North District. It was expected that within the next three years, the North would be connected to the city center, and real estate values would double.
It was said that this important person, known as "Reaper," had been involved in many major financial projects and had amassed considerable wealth. His visit to Starfall City was the result of significant efforts by the upper echelons.
The shareholders of Davis Group were buzzing with discussion. They considered investing a third of the group's funds into the North District project, hoping to at least triple their return within three years—a rare opportunity.
Samuel scoffed, "'Reaper'? I've never heard of this guy! Dad, shouldn't our focus be on Wind Group? This North District plan has been pushed for three years with no change from the start until now. Do we really need to continue participating?"
The middle-aged man at the head of the table responded gravely, "What do you know, inexperienced as you are? You don't understand the principles of achieving big things! The antibiotic from Wind Group is indeed important, and we must strive for it, but we shouldn't pour too much energy into one woman. If you keep that up, you'll suffer a big loss sooner or later!"
During this time, the Davis family had poured at least a billion dollars into fighting the Wind Group, even though the entire market value of Wind Group wasn't even a billion. Maybe it's an old-school thing, but the older generation seems to prefer tangible industries like jewelry and real estate.
But Sonia, holding a patent in her hands, wouldn't sell it even for a billion dollars. This made Samuel's father think his son was making a huge mistake.
Just then, the TV in the conference room started showing local news from Starfall City, mentioning the development plans for the North District. This news pretty much sealed the deal for the over sixty shareholders of Davis Group on the direction of this project.
Meanwhile, in Starfall City's affluent neighborhood, Spring Greens, Gibson was coming home with groceries only to find two ladies sitting cross-legged on the sofa, slurping noodles and watching the news.
"Back for a minute and you've already started eating? What's the rush?!" Gibson asked.
Sonia turned around, her voice icy, "Heard you took off with some woman during work hours?"
"Let me explain, she's actually—" Gibson started, but Sonia waved him off, "I don't have time for your love stories. For skipping work, that's a $500 fine from your salary."
"Woman, can't you see the bigger picture?!" Gibson retorted.
"How much is a 'bigger picture' worth? Ah, if only you really owed money to the Juarez family!" Sonia shot back.
"That's true, I do owe!" Gibson said.
"I meant something we can actually see! You owing a trillion is the same as owing ten million because you can't pay either!" Sonia mocked.
That might have been the most insulting thing Gibson heard all year. You could say he's incompetent, but calling him poor was off-limits. He had enough resources and wealth to buy half the properties in Starfall City!
It wasn't that he couldn't pay back the Juarez family; it was just that his master had left him with a massive debt of a trillion, and that was going to take some time to sort out.
"Really strapped for cash, huh?" Gibson said casually as he walked into the kitchen. "You might be pretty, but you really don't use your brain!"
"What do you mean?" Sonia asked sharply, narrowing her eyes.
She could handle being called dumb, but only if the person was actually smarter than her.
Intellectually, Gibson was indeed brilliant; he had been a prodigy at one time.
"Think about it, if you put in the effort to snag me, wouldn't all my resources, connections, and wealth become yours?" Gibson said with a smirk.
Sonia almost spit out her noodles, and Gabrielle, sitting beside her, quickly patted her chest, shocked she almost choked on her food.
"Looks like you're plotting to have someone share that trillion-dollar debt with you! Pretty cunning!" Sonia said with a cough and a cold laugh.
Gibson just sighed, resigned, "See, that's why I say you're not smart!"
"You...!" Sonia was fuming.
