it was me!

" Okie!" Diane smirked devilishly as she stole back her phone from it's hiding place.

Regina had hidden the phone to help them concentrate in reading, especially her, since there was a hundred percent assurance that Eric would pass either way. Diane also had good memory, but she still needed to study.

She grinned and unlocked it, only to find someone snatching it from her from behind. Her heart almost leaped out of her throat, thinking it was their mother. ' bam! I've been caught!' she thought to herself inwardly and invisible tears started rolling down her face. Noooooo!

" What're you doing?" She heard his voice and turned back to meet her brother looking a little worried. He had a disapproving look as he help up the phone.

" Phew, it's you." Diane sighed and held her chest looking relieved. " Come on, had it over." She wiggled her brows and smirked.

" What if mother comes in and catches you with your phone, it's been barely a day, Diane." Saying this, he checked the phone and realized it was his. " This is mine." He sighed.

" Mrrrrm…" Diane pouted and folded up her arms. " Fine, but don't tell on me, okay?"

Eric pressed his lips into a thin line and stared into her adorable eyes, his heart melted in a flash, and he smiled. " Promise not to do this again."

" I won't!" She raised up her right arm and placed her left hand on her right chest.

" You're doing it wrong." Eric replied with a knowing look.

Diane switched the positions of her hands with a look of determination.

" Good, now go, I'll keep this right back from where you took it." Saying this, his eyes scanned the top shelve of their mother's study, and found a box. " Mm, found it." He recognized the box from when their mother had ceased their phones, making them put it in themselves.

Diane walked out of the room. " Heh, he'll be fine." She let out a soft exhale and shrugged innocently. Upon reaching the entrance of her room, she spotted their mother. Uh-huh! She might catch Eric wondering in her room and what if he tells on her? Nah, he wouldn't. She smirked, her twin brother was just an angel. She had both hands on both sides of her hips.

" Mummy," she called in a sweet adorable voice allowing Regina to look at her suspiciously. " Yes, dear?" She replied with a knowing tone.

" Why did you look so suspicious when I called you just now?" She copied her brother, and tilted her head to the side.

" Diane, do you need something?" She asked with a small sigh. She was definitely up to something… as usual.

" Nope! Take me to your room so I can study!" Diane replied with her eyes gleaming with excitement. She's totally forgotten the main reason she called her.

Regina's eyes squinted suspiciously. " Mmmm, you want to study?"

Meanwhile Eric struggled to reach the shelve with his arms stretched, so he went towards a nearby chair, and pulled it. It took a lot of effort due to the chair's weight.

Regina walked into her room and immediately, her eyes landed on the door to her study, finding it slightly opened. That was when Diane realized the reason she'd called her mother… ' Eish' she facepalmed herself in her imagination and pressed her temples.

Regina walked in to find Eric standing on a chair while he held the box in his tiny hand, his phone was on the other…

Eric's eyes widened in surprise. Had Diane been caught while she tried to leave the room? He felt guilty. His sister might get punished, he needed to do something!

Meanwhile Diane saw a strange look in his brother's big round eyes. He must've thought she betrayed him. He looked hurt. She wanted to open her mouth to clear the misunderstanding, but Eric beat her to it.

" It's not what you think, mother.'' he started and let out a huge sigh. So he did think she sold him out! Diane wanted to speak, but the look on Regina's face at that moment…

" I tried to take my phone without you being aware, I'm sorry." He spoke up with his head lowered a little. He placed the phone b,cak into the box and returned the box to the top shelve.

Diane looked stunned. He went that far in order to protect her from the angry version of their mother?! She tried to hold her tears and smiled.

" I didn't expect this from you, Eric. You've always been so well behaved." Regina spoke with disappointment laced in her tone. " I give you one last chance to tell me what really happened, or else, you'll get proper punishment from me." Regina careful lowered Diane, and made her stand on her feat. She could've guessed what exactly happened, if Eric wasn't holding his phone.

" I'm telling the truth mother, you've caught me with my phone. There's no denying that I tried to take it behind your back." He replied quickly.

Regina knew she he was lying right away. Lying was unacceptable, and offensive even though he was protecting his sister.

" Go to your room, now." She would have told him he was granted if he wasn't already an introvert. That would be like making him more excited. He clearly enjoyed being alone with his books.

The worst punishment she could give him, was to take him out to a park and force him to make friends with other kids.

Without hesitation, he started to walk out of the study. " I'm cancelling our trip to New York, by the way." Regina added on purpose. Of course, it wouldn't affect Eric much, but Diane who'd been ecstatic to visit the city would definitely breakdown.

Diane gasped. " Whaaaaaat!"

Regina turned back to face Diane and shrugged. " Since he's being defiant, he needs to atone for his sin."

Eric quickly saw through his mother's scheme and paused. He turned to give Diane a sign, but it was to no avail. The girl already had her lower jaw falling.

" Mommy! It was me! It was me!" She yelled before her brother could say a word.

" Mmm, what're you talking about?" Regina smiled knowingly.

" We're going to New York, I know you know it was me!" Diane threw her fists up and her legs also sprung up in anticipation. She kept jumping up and screamed.
