What daddy looks like...

Eric facepalmed himself. She made him lie for nothing… -_-

Their mother clearly said that on purpose, and she wouldn't go back on her words when she promised to take them already.

" Oh, really now?" She squated down to her level, and ruffled her hair. " Then I'll have to save your punishment until after the exam next week."

" But isn't that when we'll be visiting New York?" Diane's face glistened with tears that threatened to fall.

" That's right." Regina replied.

"Mother, I have a request to make." Eric spoke up looking a little embarrassed.

" I forgive you. But next time don't lie to me, is that clear?" Regina spoke with a stern look on her face. She let out a deep, exasperated sigh, her shoulders sagging as she released the tension she had been holding onto.

Despite her frustration and disappointment, she couldn't maintain her anger towards her son. She knew he was only five years old, still learning and navigating the right and wrong.

Although he had taken the blame for his sister's actions, Regina understood that his intention was not to deceive, but rather to protect.

At his young age, he could fully comprehend the consequences of lying, and Regina's heart melted as she considered his purpose.

As she sighed, Regina's expression softened, and her tone gentled. She knew she needed to address the situation, teaching her son the importance of honesty while also offering guidance and support.

She shifted from frustration to empathy and understanding his purpose.

" Yes mother." Eric replied and scratched the back of his white hair.

" Yes, what is the request?" Regina asked with a smile. She really couldn't stay mad at her children for long. That was a weakness.

" I want you to attend our school school's grand visiting day. It's… it's on Friday." Eric scratched the back of his head nervously.

Regina's absence from her children's school grand visiting day had become a routine. Despite receiving invitations from the school, she consistently declined, citing her busy schedule as the reason. As a high-society parent, her presence was expected, but her priorities lay elsewhere.

When her son asked her directly to attend, Regina's initial instinct was to turn him down, as she had done countless times before.

However, something about his request struck a chord. She paused, her gaze drifting to her twins, and a sigh escaped her lips. The weight of her responsibilities and the demands of her time seemed to momentarily lift.

A small, enigmatic smile crept onto her face as she considered the possibility of attending. "Friday, heh?" she said, her tone laced with a hint of surprise.

For the first time, she saw a window of opportunity – a day free from operations and obligations. She had nothing doing on Friday, so… The twins' expectant faces sealed her decision, and she decided she'd agree to attend, marking a subtle shift in her priorities.

Eric's face lit up. " Ye-yes mother."

" Fine, I'll attend." As Regina's words hung in the air, the twins' faces ignited with uncontainable excitement. Their eyes widened, sparkling like diamonds, as they exchanged a thrilled glance. A synchronized grin spread across their faces, revealing the depth of their joy.

Their mother's agreement to attend the school event was a rare and precious gift, one they had longed for but never thought possible. The twins' faces radiated an unbridled enthusiasm, as if they had just received the most extraordinary news.

Diane's smil faltered for a moment, as if to confirm the reality of the situation, before blossoming into a full-blown, cheeky grin. The air around her seemed to vibrate with their excitement, as she struggled to contain her euphoria.

" Wow, really?!" Diane smiled proudly. She couldn't wait to show her friends how beautiful their mother was.

" Hmm-hmm!" She nodded in approval and got up. " Head to your rooms, I'll have Joan read you bed time stories. It's late now and you need to wake up early for school tomorrow." She reminded them, making Diane's excitement die down.

" Boo!" She almost stuck her tounge out, but realized if she did, she'd be adding to her future punishment.

" Hmm?" Regina raised a brow pretending not to have heard her.

" Nothing… I'm going to bed now." She lowered her head. Mommy could be so scary sometimes!

" Good girl…" she gave her a small pat on the head, making her pout dissolve.

As they started to walk out of the room, Diane suddenly paused, making Eric do the same. " Why did you stop?" He furrowed his brows with worry etched on his face.

" Eric, have you ever wondered what daddy looks like?" Diane asked, but the little boy's eyes twiched.

He disliked his father without meeting him already! He left their mother all alone with just them. He must have made their mother really sad. Anyone who makes his mother sad is an enemy… except Diane of course, he would scold her, and she won't do it again.

" We don't have a father, Diane." He replied with a cold voice… not what he was intending.

Diane's eyes widened with shock. " Eric… what're you saying? Everyone has a daddy." She couldn't believe her brother was saying that… now thinking about it, where is their daddy? She became curious. She never really thought about it much, since their mother was more than enough.

" I thought you were smart…'' she shook her head disapprovingly. She only wondered what their daddy looked like since their mother was so beautiful. " Maybe he hid from us so we won't see his face… maybe… he's an eyesore…"

" Stop wondering." Eric sighed. " You'll make mother sad.

" You know that's not possible, right?" She continued her stroll towards her room which was opposite her brother's.

" For the sake of the trip," Eric added with a sigh. That was the only thing that could get her to listen.

" Okie okie! I'll ask her what daddy looks like after the trip! How does that sound?" She held her door knob with a cute smile playing on her lips.

Eric was also curious to be honest. He also wanted to know what their dad looks like, now that her sister mentioned it.
