  As I sat at my desk, I couldn't shake off the uneasiness that lingered in the room. I was determined to separate Elissa and Brett. I couldn't ignore the feeling that my actions stemmed from a place of selfishness and personal gain, but I didn't care.

  I heard a knock on my door; after a while, the door was pushed open, and a pack member who became a good friend of mine after Ellissa left, Hope, came inside. She looked up, a smirk playing on her lips. "What is happening, Jen?" Brett seems to be interested in Ellissa again."

  I held her gaze, my voice calm but firm. "Hope, are you here to help me or to mock me? If so, get out of my room."

  Hope's smirk faltered slightly, but she recovered quickly. "What attitude? You have every right to fight for what you want. Tell me what you would do."
