CHAPTER 54

The movie ended and Shen Mu and Hu Yiting stood up to leave the cinema.

"What do you feel like eating?" He asked when they reached outside. 

"At this moment I think I can eat anything." She replied when her stomach grumbled.

"I'm sorry, I should have taken you to have dinner first, before watching the movie." Hu Yiting apologized.

"It's fine really, we can go and have food now." She said to him.

Hu Yiting nodded, and they both walked hand in hand. 

Cheng Xiao and Xu Kai walked out of the meeting after shaking hands, the deal had gone through. 

"Mr. Xu, you have one heck of a secretary." The client spoke.

He had been impressed with the way Cheng Xiao explained the details and answered him when he had questions.

"Are you sure you don't want to come and work for me?" He asked Cheng Xiao; he was so impressed that he wanted her to join him.

"I'm afraid I will have to decline that offer; I am happy where I am." She replied politely.

"Now I know why Mr. Xu cannot let an employee like to go." He spoke; Cheng Xiao looked at him I confusion.

"Excuse me?" She asked.

The client nodded to himself and handed her his business card, saying that she should call him when she changes her mind.

Cheng Xiao looked at Xu Kai and offered a small smile. Xu Kai bid farewell and looked at Cheng Xiao indicating to her that they should leave.

Once they were in the elevator, Xu Kai grabbed the business card from her hand.

"Don't even think about it." He said stuffing the card into his pocket.

"As if, even if I had thought about it, how will you let me go?" She said sarcastically.

"I'm glad you learn fast." He said with a smirk.

Cheng Xiao looked at the smirk on his face and wanted nothing more than to just wipe that smile off. 

"What are you thinking about?" He asked her, when he saw the look, she had in her eyes.

"Nothing!" She replied and turned her head away.

"It's a crime to kill your husband you know." He said voicing her thoughts out.

"Who is thinking of murder?" She asked turning to him.

"Isn't you?" He asked raising his brow.

"I wasn't thinking of anything." She replied.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Mr. Xu!" Cheng Xiao called his name to bring the conversation to an end.

They walked out of the elevator and walked straight heading outside. The driver had been waiting, and they got into the car as soon as they reached outside.

"Go home!" He said to the driver. 

Cheng Xiao sat in the car in silence and looked outside the window. Xu Kai saw her and decided to leave her alone, she took out her phone and connected her air pods. 

She played music looking outside, Xu Kai reached out and took out one earpiece from her and placed it in his ear.

"What are you listening to?" He asked when he heard the song.
