4: Sudden Attack, A Greater Fear.

He slowly opened his eyes, blinking multiple times as he tried to adjust to the blazing sunlight.

Unexpectedly, his body felt completely fine; he had expected some pain from the powerful attack which Niya had thrown at him.

After a while of blinking, it seemed that he could finally open his eyes but still had to squint them; the progress was slow but was getting better.

From the corner of his eyes, he caught a glimpse of his elder sister by his side.

He slowly crouched up his legs as he slowly turned towards her direction.

His eyes instantly widened in shock at the sight that lay before him, prompting an immediate gasp from his lips; his swords had been broken and she was futilely trying to piece them together.

She instantly gasped in shock as soon as she heard the ruffling of grasses from her brother turning to face her.

She slowly turned around to see him facing her with a shocked expression on his face; she knew he had seen his broken swords and smiled awkwardly at him.

His expression quickly changed from one of shock to one of utter disappointment as their eyes met; she wasn't even trying to hide the fact that she was responsible.

He slowly got up from the ground and walked towards her, grabbing hold of the swords as soon as he closed the gap between them.

" Come on don't get mad... after all, we can always visit the blacksmith if you want it fixed."

" If I? Of course I want it fixed!"

He didn't know how to feel at that moment; although the weapon was very much useless, inherited weapons had some great advantages; they couldn't be changed and could only be used by the inheritors while leveling up along with them.

This meant that they could become stronger compared to ordinary weapons and could grant their inheritors skills as well.

" Where can I find the clan's blacksmith?" He asked, looking around the place.

" Oh..." She said, pausing slightly as she slowly got up from the ground, " just follow me and we'll be there in no time."

With disappointment still written on his face and his gaze slightly fixed on the broken swords that he held, he slowly followed behind her.

It wasn't long before they arrived at the aforementioned blacksmith; the heat from the place was surging profusely and they were both already sweating before they could arrive at the entrance.

As if expecting their arrival, there was already a man standing at the front of the door with a huge smile on his face.

" I see you came to visit again mistress Niya." He said as they both arrived.

" Sorry to bother you again sir Tim but Master Nexus here would like for you to give his swords a quick fixing." She said, pointing towards her younger brother.

His eyes narrowed towards the boy standing behind the young girl and they widened immediately after that; he hadn't seen all of the clan leaders children yet but he was surprised to see one who he wasn't able to make out as one of them.

He couldn't be blamed either, Nexus hadn't inherited most of his parent's traits and so could be easily mistaken.

His mother's eyes were hazel and his father's, although red, had a despicable tint of golden in them.

" Sorry for my inconvenience it's quite rare seeing you around." He said, bowing his head slightly, "Please tell everything it is you want."

" He's classless..." She said, quickly grabbing the swords from him, " so please be careful with how you deal with the weapons."

The man froze for a moment as he slowly reached towards the twin blades; first an isolated heir of the clan and finding out that he was classless.

He wasn't the only one left in shock either; this was supposed to be a capable clan heiress standing before him, trained by the best of the clan's teachers and her mother as well, and yet, she had just blurted out such confidential info to the blacksmith without a second thought.

" Come back tomorrow for the weapon, I'll see what I can do by then."

The man's lips were trembling as he said those words, his gaze fixed entirely on the boy; the Mystic clan was one of the three most powerful clans in the kingdom, a classless system was a rarity that shouldn't be found in such a grand place.

They both immediately left after that and returned to their courtyard, sweating profusely.

" There, you happy now?" He questioned, turning away his gaze as soon as they settled down.

" I'm sorry okay... Stop trying to make me feel like it's my fault your weapon was so easy to break." She folded her arms, turning away her gaze from him as well, " I tried to limit my mystic energy to the bare minimum, yet you were too weak to withstand it."

There it was, the harsh truth that had stung him deep in his chest; nothing she said was a lie, even a system defiance was better than him.

She expected a reaction from him as she said those lines but after a while of silence, she slowly turned towards him.

His face was still turned away from her but she could see it even from where she was, the tears that were slowly flowing down from his cheeks.

Even though he had been reincarnated into this world, it still couldn't make up for the fact that he was a sensitive fifteen-year-old before his death.

Her lips slightly split up and she slowly turned her gaze as she stood up from the ground.

Nexus was still sitting on the ground, staring into space as tears slowly streamed down his face.

While he was still in his sorry state, he felt someone press hard onto his back and drag him to the ground.

A hand slowly stroked through his hair as her loud and cheerful chuckle filled the air.

" Come on Nexus brother, quit acting like a baby. You know I didn't mean any of that." She said, laughing loudly as she continued to stroke her fingers through his hair.

Sometimes her cheerfulness was all it took to clear away the fog that encroached on his heart; without realizing it a smile slowly appeared on his face and he tried to take away her hand from his head.

His attempts were futile, but she stopped after a few more minutes of gently patting and stroking his hair.

" I have a secret I want to show you." She said as she slowly got from his body.

He didn't say anything to that, simply kept his gaze intently on her as he got up as well from the ground.

" Come on, we should be there and back before it gets dark."

Before he could even get up properly, she tugged on his arm and quickly pulled him along with her.

They went through the courtyard and past many other houses before they arrived at what looked like a forest pathway.

This area was a place he hadn't been to before, and although it belonged to the Mystic clan, was a place he didn't want to be either.

He already knew where she was taking him and knew why she would as well; a calm blue glowing sea that would wash away all your worries while remaining still.

" Come on brother, we're almost there." She said, running forward.

Though reluctantly, he chased after her but she was just as quick as he had expected.

Should turned around after a while of running to see him huffing and panting, struggling to keep up with her.

She waited for him to catch up so she could continue running but while she did so, the greatest shock of her life occurred.

" Look out!" She yelled at the top of her lungs as she threw her sword forward.

Nexus was left dumbfounded as the sword went flying toward him but he too knew the reason for her scream; behind him, a large amount of mystic energy had suddenly welled up.

He quickly bent over and he turned his gaze to his back, watching as the sword clashed with the vine that was just on its way to pierce through his chest.

The sword slashed off the vine and into the source as he fell to the ground.

His sister's blade had stopped the incoming, but that was all it had done; he sat trembling in fear as he watched a huge shadow rise above him.

A sight he didn't want to witness, not at the current point in his life.
