That statement was not a surprise to him, but it made Dan stand still as multiple thoughts saturated his head.

'It was his choice, right? I mean, he chose to die. Even if he dies, it's none of my business; after all, he hates me.'

Those were Dan's thoughts, but he couldn't voice them or act on them. He just stood there, watching as Tomen's life source depleted by the second. Time was passing, and he needed to speak up.

"We can save him…" Himura cut in, touching Tomen's nape. "If we hurry, we can save him. We can save many lives if we try."
