Elfie's Help

"By any chance, did someone get lost and rang the doorbell?" Lex questioned.

"No, that's simply not possible. The chances of getting lost in this specific area of town are extremely small." Rio shook her head. "Lex, can you still use your ability?"

"Yes, I can. I also have the pills with me." 

"Good. There is a chance that we would need to fight. Be prepared." 

Rio grabbed hold of Lex's hand and the two of them appeared at the doors of the mansion after a few seconds.

Together, they stepped out with full alertness.

"Someone is present at the main gate. I wish I installed some cameras at the entrance gate." 

"We can do it from next time onwards," Lex suggested. "For the time being, let's approach the person stealthily." 

The duo began to approach the gates of the mansion. When the duo was a couple of meters away from the main gates, an explosion occurred.

*BOOM!*

The gate of the mansion shattered into pieces, revealing a group of three people standing behind it.

The trio wore matching gray clothes that covered every inch of their body from neck to toe. Black face masks covered half of their faces, masking their identity. 

Two of them were males and the remaining one was a female. All of them had black hair and emotionless black eyes that were analyzing Lex and Rio's movements.

"Shit…" Rio cursed under her breath.

"Hello, Miss Rio. Mister Allen sends his regards to you. We have orders to take you and the one named Lex with us to our headquarters. I will appreciate it if you come with us without resisting." One of them informed.

"You still talk politely, Jason." Rio smiled humorlessly. "I think you already know my answer."

"You could have beaten two of us but defeating all three of us is not easy for you. Not to mention that you have to protect this man." Jason replied while pointing at Lex.

"I can protect myself. You are the one who might need the protection." Lex replied calmly.

His instincts told him that the trio in front of him were on a different level as compared to ParaDox.

Though Lex was more familiar with his ability now and could use it for longer, he knew he was inexperienced in combat.

[ I will keep an eye out for you. Stay alert. ]

'You sound serious.'

[ The situation is serious. All three of them have the aura of high-ranked ability users. They must possess grade 8 or above abilities. ] 

'I have to be careful.'

Jason and the other two raised their hand to their masks and removed them. Lex's eyes widened when he saw that the trio's lips were the color of ash.

"I am afraid that we don't have a choice then. I gave you a choice, Miss Rio." 

Each of them pulled out an orange pill from their pockets and put them inside their mouth.

"Lex, get ready. Aim for their limbs and neck. This is a bad match-up for the two of us but remember that your ability is overpowered. If I think things are getting difficult, I will take you to safety."

"But I can handle a fight."

"I don't care about that. You are not dying in front of me." Rio replied sharply.

Lex didn't argue because Rio was emitting a dangerous. Instead, he decided to support her.

"Theo, you will take care of Lex. Deal with him quickly before helping me and Emily." Jason instructed. "Let's go."

In the blink of an eye, the trio shot forward. 

Theo, the one responsible for fighting Lex, started emitting blue waves from his body. They shot out from his waist, covering a circular region. 

Lex decided to maintain his distance from Theo. He raised his hands towards the broken pieces of the gate and pulled on them.

'Huh?'

Unfortunately, the pieces remained stuck in their location. Theo smirked after seeing his reaction and successfully arrived closer to Lex.

"You should have listened to Miss Rio. This is a bad match-up for you." Theo punched forward.

The blue waves shooting out of his waist gathered together around his hand, covering it in a blue coating.

Lex knew that getting hit with that attack was not something he could afford. Lex used his ability to push himself backward.

He shot away from the fist, surprising Theo.

"How did you do that?" Theo asked, momentarily looking confused.

Lex didn't reply. He was trying to analyze Theo's ability to figure out why he wasn't able to pull on the broken pieces.

[ The blue waves are preventing your ability from working. ]

'Yeah, I figured that out. Anything else?'

[ Actually, yes. I had been working hard to awaken a function of the system that was dormant. It's active now. ] 

Once Elfie finished, words started appearing in front of Lex's eyes. Elfie obviously recited the words.

[ System scan is now awakened.

Current awakening: 30% ]

[ As a tutorial, the system scan is used on the opponent. ]

A blue window appeared above Theo's head.

[ Ability: Force Negation

Grade: 8

Description: This ability can cancel out the effects of magnetism, push and pull force, forced gravitation, and levitation by emitting blue negative waves from their body.

The user can also concentrate the waves at certain spots. If any of the above-mentioned ability users come in contact with the spot, it can deal heavy damage to them. ]

Lex was provided with a detailed explanation of the ability Theo was using. This only made one question appear in Lex's mind.

How was he able to push himself away if Theo was negating his ability?

Lex, however, didn't have the time to analyze this. He was still fighting against Theo. The latter regained his senses and threw calculated punches and kicks.

Lex dodged them with his ability, noticing that the thickness of the blue coating was decreasing. The waves being released also covered a small distance.

"How are you able to keep going? Magnetism is ranked lower than my ability and I should be able to fully counter it!" Theo shouted in frustration.

He was specifically picked to fight Lex because of the information they received. According to him, Lex was a newly awakened magnetism ability user.

Lex remained silent as his eyes caught sight of Rio's fight. She and Jason were battling it out in the sky while Emily supported Jason from the back.

The fight was too quick for Lex to notice everything but he did see Rio holding out on her own against her two opponents.

Lex decided that he needed to wrap up his fight and help Rio in her 2 vs 1 fight. After all, he already figured out the way to defeat Theo.

"I am not using magnetism." Lex finally said. "Your ability is useless against me."

"What do you mean?" Theo questioned. An ominous feeling spread throughout his body.

"Nothing." Lex pointed his hands forward. "It's time to finish this."
