I Will Protect Her at All Costs

When the enemy ship had made a full 180° turn, I could see that the area around the ship started to turn blue as we jumped back into hyperspace.

"Jasmine!! you will report what you did that caused the enemy to break through and steal the item. " the leader of the other team said as he entered the room.

"Well, sir, I.... I did....". she stuttered out of fear of him as he approached her.

Her leader had a terrifying look across his entire body as he made his way in front of her and crouched down so that there was less than three inches of space in between his face and hers as she was sitting against the wall of the ship.

I wanted to help her by getting in between them, but I was still getting over my fear and terror of that werewolf. He was quite an intimidating presence. even though I could move around, I did not feel like instantly going from one intimidating presence to another without a better reason than just coming in between them because of how he is treating her. This also might be the way that they deal with failure in the squad; and since I was not a member of their team, I could not get involved with anything that they were doing unless it was in violation of any laws of The Terran Collective.

"What did you do? let me guess, you let him get past you without putting up much of a fight.

I knew that they should not have put someone as pathetically weak as you through the elite training program. someone as weak and frail as you were an absolute waste of taxpayer money when they tried to ensure that you got more intense and in-depth training. " the elite soldier leader said angrily at her right before he spit on her face.

"But sir, I began to attack him when he moved so fast that he just knocked me unconscious before I could even touch him." she said as she started to cry.

"Do you think that your tears will change my mind on your punishment? Trust me, it will not. " he said to her as he pulled her by the hair and threw her against the bench that was right beside where I was leaning while I gathered my nerves.

I saw that she had just enough strength to turn around and look at her leader with a look of determination across her face as soon as she wiped her tears away.

"Pl.. pl.. please, sir. I did all that I could to stop him. " she said as she looked into his eyes but did not move her body at all.

"When we make it back to our headquarters, I will discuss your failures with the head of the House of Lupus.

Then, after that, you will be officially dishonorably discharged and stripped up all privileges because of this failing. This will make you a casteless disgrace and outcast until the end of your days. there is no greater punishment for a failure of a person that lives in The Terran Collective." he said as he began to laugh at her and approach her with a lot of malice and murderous intent that I felt rush off him.

I suddenly snapped myself as soon as I heard him say that. This made me lose all the fear that I was previously enveloped in. I grabbed my other scythe and pointed my pistol at him as I walked in front of her. If it was the last thing that I would do, then I would not allow him to create an unneeded casteless in our society.

"Little man, you do not want to get in my way. If you do not move, I will kill you. " he said as he shifted his focus to me and pulled out his melee weapon from the sheath on his back, which was a katana that shined as he pulled it out before rushing at me.

"You can try to kill me if you wish, but just so you know, even though I am a healer, I am not your typical run of the mill healer. I am so much more than that.

Full Body Cellular Regeneration! Now it is time to get serious. " I said with much passion behind every word because I was going to do whatever it took to keep her from being attacked by him.

He rushed at me and began swinging his katana at me that was engulfed in flames in a fast circular motion that made small spirals of fire that seemed to leap towards me in a flash.

I did not even try to block his attack since I knew that my healing skill would be able to prevent me from taking any forms of permanent damage.

When the flames met my body, it caused a giant circular opening in the center of my chest. a few seconds after the opening was made, I could see gushes of blood coming from the wounds.

As soon as the bleeding started to become visible, it suddenly stopped, and all my scars were covered by a light green aura. Then my body was completely shield of all its wounds, and I felt like I could take on at least ten more of those spirals of fire at the same time.

"What kind creature are you? Are you a filthy Demetra; or are you a pure-blooded vampire?" he asked me as he dropped his katana and began to back away from me.

"Like I told you I am not anything like your typical healer." I said to him as I made my way towards him.

Before I was able to make any kind of advancement on him, I saw Trent enter the room with the peripheral vision from my right eye. This caused me to stop moving as if I was waiting for Trent to give me an order on how to handle this.

"Danny, that is enough. I saw everything, and I will be reporting hir to the house of Lupus for abusing his power as her commander.

On the note of protecting the container I actually placed a tracer at the base of the container whenever I first entered the ship just in case something like this were to happen while we were moving it to our destination." Trent said to me as he placed his hand on my shoulder, which calmed me down.

"At least you were smart enough to put a tracker on it, which tells me that you are worth something, I guess." The other leader said as he sheathed his katana and walked away from me.

"It seems that they have made it to the volcanic world of Zentrep. That world has an undead stronghold on it. If we would want to reclaim the box, we are going to have to have a much larger strike force." Trent said when he pressed a button on his scouter, and a blue projection of a planet showed up in front of him.

I walked my way over to where the rest of my team was standing after grabbing the female that I was previously guarding so that I could keep her safe from her leader's wrath at least for the time being.

"Thank you very much, Trent. I will always be grateful for what you have done today in helping me spare this lady's life." I said to Trent after he deactivated his scouter.

"Since he is now over there, I would actually like to know what exactly happened that caused him to get past you since I know about your rare and advanced healing techniques."

"Well, if you must know, I tried to fire my pistol at him, and he just shredded the rounds almost as soon as they left the barrel. then I attacked him with one of my scythes in the other hand, and he snapped it before throwing it aside. " I said as I looked down and pointed at the broken weapon beside me with shame behind every single one of my words in acknowledgment of my failures.

"If that is the case, then we will have to get you a new one when we make it back home before we leave for the next mission." he said he grabbed the broken weapon off the floor and looked at the location where the pieces were separated from each other.

Then I saw Raven walk up beside me with something in her hand.

"Also, since you have survived an encounter against each one of the enemy types as we had originally requested from, you will have earned your squad armor." Raven said as she handed me a blue rectangle.

I looked at this rectangle and did not know what to do, so I asked her so that I would not be confused for any longer.

"Place the cube on your chest and activate the button, which will cause the metal to expand and stretch around your body until it is the perfect size." Raven said to me as she pointed at the one area of the cube that was black.

After she showed me what I had to do, I pressed the button that caused the metal to stretch around me just she said it would until it became a full set of metal body armor.

The set of armor was black in the chest area, and it had a white rose with black petals over the chest area. well, that was how the chest area was designed. The arm pieces and sides were colored white.

"You know that armor doesn't look as bad on you as I thought it would originally when you joined us." Sid said as he looked up from a tablet that he was fiddling with.

"Yeah, it looks quite nice on you. what do you think William". Raven said in a quick response after looking at me.

"I mean, I guess it looks okay on him. you don't have to make such a big deal over the fact that he has on our armor now. it does not matter to me if he has it on or not. He is still a useless whelp that will not ever measure up to the standards of this strike force team." William said he looked at me and then turned away with a look of disapproval.

"Do not mind him. He may act all tough and harsh towards, but he has told me about how he has chosen to be kinder to you after you saved us from being the experiments of a cyborg on our previous mission.

Hey, that reminds me that the head of The House of Lupus has granted you level nine access. With this, you could get almost any kind of intel pr ask for almost any favor from him." Trent said as soon as William started to walk into the next cart of the vehicle.

"Why would he possibly do that for me?" I asked out of surprise at what I had just heard.

"Because you have done what many thought was impossible. You have been able to get The Vordonians to begin talking about peace with us because of you saving an entire planet of their female civilians."

Then, after Trent spoke, I noticed that the ship had made it out of hyperspace, which meant we were finally home again. I was wondering if I could meet up with Nova before we left, even if it would be just for a little while because I truly missed my wife.

I started to space out when I looked at the endlessness cone of blue energy outside of the ship.

The only thing that brought me back from entirely spacing out was the site of the fleet that was guarding our world as the ship left hyperspace.

The only major regret that I had was that I had cost us the mission; and I hope that I would be able to redeem myself by joining in on the massive strike force that was going to be assigned to attack that vampire stronghold on the world where Trent's tracker beacon was located.

We landed the ship into the same place that we had launched it from, and as soon as we landed, the shields were deactivated, and the doors quickly opened.

I felt a rush of fresh air and satisfaction as I stepped out of the ship, knowing that my feet were finally home even if it was just for a little pit stop.

"Whatever you do, make sure that you come back within three hours. That is all the time that I will be able to give you before we will be departing for our mission to reclaim the box.

Normally we would not get involved in this and we would just have an elite team that only consists of specialists attack the vampire stronghold; but since it was our error that caused the Terran Collective to have to take this mission as well as my tracker that will locate it. It is highly likely that we will be one of the teams that are chosen to complete this specific mission." Trent said as everyone started to get out of the ship, and he left the hangar bay.

Since he had given me a total of three hours to do with as I please, I think that I will go to a weapon store in the high society ring of town so that I could get the best pair of dual scythes that I could buy before I went on this next mission to redeem the errors of my ways.
