EDWIN

I woke up early in the morning to prepare for my interview, the anticipation already sending a jolt of adrenaline through my veins. I slipped into my sleek, three-layered suit, feeling a rush of confidence. As I sipped my coffee and scrolled through the news, I fumbled and dropped the mug, spilling coffee all over the floor. Amidst the chaos, a news flash caught my attention: the CEO of a leading company had stepped down abruptly, and a new president had taken over. What had happened for such a sudden shift?

Shortly after, another bombshell: the former CEO was arrested by the police for involvement in illegal drug trafficking. The day was already off to an unexpected start, and it was about to get even more intense. I received an email confirming my interview and, after waiting for 30 minutes, the EA led me to the office.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Everett," said a familiar voice, smooth and commanding.

"It's a pleasure meeting you," I responded, glancing at her nameplate and then back at her striking face.

"So, what makes you want to work with us, Mr. Everett?" she asked, her tone laced with curiosity and a hint of challenge.

"Well, it made me curious about your company," I replied, my eyes locking with hers.

"Curious about what?" she inquired, leaning back in her chair, her eyes never leaving mine.

"Curious about your company, but right now, I'm more curious about you," I admitted, feeling the tension rise between us.

"Curious about me?" She leaned forward, her smile tantalizingly close, her gaze piercing.

"Yes. You acquired the company, which is among the top in the world. That's quite impressive," I remarked, trying to match her intensity.

"Well, as you said, you were curious about me. I was curious about this company, so I bought it," she said with a nonchalant shrug. Her blue eyes sparkled with mischief and confidence, reminding me of the beautiful stranger I had met on the train before.

"Whoa, that's unexpected. Can someone just buy a company that easily?" I asked, studying her features, my curiosity turning into something more intense.

She leaned in even closer, her breath brushing against my ear as she whispered, "When you want something bad enough, you find a way to get it." The proximity sent shivers down my spine.

I cleared my throat, breaking the magnetic pull between us. "So, is my interview done, Ms. Everett?"

"Yes, wait for the email from the company," she replied, her eyes never leaving mine.

"Okay," I said, standing up, but as I was about to leave, she asked, "Aren't you nervous about being rejected?"

I turned back, smirking. "No, you wouldn't reject me, Ms. Everett." I winked at her and walked out with long strides, feeling her eyes on me the entire time. Her laughter echoed behind me, sending a thrill through my veins.

As I watched her watch me leave, I couldn't help but notice the way she held herself with such poise, her confidence undeniable. There was something alluringly mysterious about her. I decided to take a risk and inject a bit of intrigue into our interaction.

"Mr. Rodriguez," she called out just as I reached the door.

I turned around, allowing a sly smile to play on my lips. "Yes, Ms. Everett?"

She leaned back in her chair, crossing her legs slowly, a deliberate move to catch my attention. "Are you always this confident?"

My eyes flicked to her legs briefly before meeting her gaze. "Confidence is part of my charm. But with you, Ms. Everett, it's more of a challenge."

"A challenge, you say?" she arched an eyebrow, clearly intrigued by my boldness.

"Indeed. I like challenges," I replied, lowering my voice slightly to add a touch of intimacy to our banter.

"Be careful, Mr. Rodriguez. You might find yourself in over your head," she warned, her voice low and sultry.

I stepped closer, feeling a sudden surge of electricity between us. "I think I can handle it."

"Good. Because working here won't be easy. I have high expectations," she stated firmly, her eyes locking onto mine.

"I wouldn't expect anything less," I said, a hint of challenge in my tone.

"Then we'll see how well you do. Welcome to KL Company, Mr. Rodriguez," she said, extending her hand.

I took it, feeling the warmth of her grip. "Thank you, Ms. Everett. I look forward to working with you."

As our hands parted, I couldn't shake the feeling that this job would be unlike any other, with Ms. Everett adding a layer of complexity I hadn't anticipated.

After a while, I reached home, the encounter still fresh in my mind. I sat on the couch, took out my phone, and called Austin to see if he knew why Jameson had stepped down so suddenly. The day had started with unexpected twists, and I had a feeling it was just the beginning.
