The walk to Carlisle's office was silent, the only sound reverberating through the hallway being their steps as they walked.
The walk, however, was short. It only took them a minute to arrive at the office.
Heading inside, Alex saw what looked like a generic doctor's office with some clear glass drawers filled with medical archives and a desk at the end of the room.
There was also a white bed on the right side of the room if anyone came, especially for an appointment with Doctor Carlisle.
Closing the door behind them, Carlisle headed towards his chair and motioned for Alice to sit on a small round chair while Alex sat on the white bed.
"Now then, I'm sure we have a lot to talk about, Alex, especially after what happened yesterday and this morning," Carlisle said as he turned to face Alex.
"We sure do, though I'm unsure how to ease us into this conversation," Alex said as he faced Carlisle, who still kept that soft smile on his face.
Alice, meanwhile, clearly showed signs of being anxious and was fidgeting on the chair.
"Well, we can just skip all the easing into it if you want. From what I and my family have observed, you do know about what we are, correct?" Carlisle said as he interlocked his hands on the wooden table in front of him.
Alex nodded slowly and replied to the man.
"Yes, I know what you guys are, vampires," Alex said as he pointed with his head to Alice.
Alices breath seemed to almost freeze for a moment until it restarted once more.
Even the calm Carlisle's eyes seemed to focus more.
Alex felt like they did, at least, though the outward change to his gaze was minimal at best.
"I see we were correct in our observations," Carlisle said as they released a soft sigh.
"It's alright, it's not going to affect me or you much even if I know about it," Alex said as he tried to show a trustworthy smile, though he failed miserably at it.
*Sigh*
"If only it was that simple, Alex, there could be a lot of problems with you knowing what we are. While we know that you aren't exactly normal either, with you being able to lock your mind against telepaths at will, you still seem like a human. And humans should never know the existence of Vampires," Carlisle said as he faced Alex, his expression was serious as he told Alex.
"There are vampires in this world that will kill you and everyone you care for if they knew about you, knowing they exist, Alex," Carlisle said as he tried to show Alex the importance of the situation at hand.
"That's right, Alex. We won't do anything against you. We don't even drink human blood like other vampires, but it's still a problem," Alice interjected.
Alex stood there for a moment and then huffed out a puff of air and took a deep breath.
"Well, that entire problem really doesn't exist, doctor," Alex said, turning to Alice and continuing.
"Alice"
Alice and Carlisle's expressions turned mildly confused as they stared at Alex, waiting for an explanation.
"While I can just tell you, I think it's better that you see for yourself. it would be easier to show than to explain," Alex said and then turned to look around the room.
"There aren't any cameras in the room, right?" Alex asked.
"No, there's no cameras in my office. You can rest easy," Carlisle replied.
"All right, let's just do this then," Alex said as he nodded more so to affirm his own mind.
Closing his eyes for but a split second and opening them again, Alex looked directly into Carlisle's own amber eyes.
The pitch-black eyes slowly started to change, and then the speed of what could even be called a mutation started ramping up quickly.
In only a few moments, the eyes turned crimson red, their pupils sharp and narrow like a cat.
"This," Alice said out loud to her surprise as she stood up from the chair, causing it to make a screeching sound as it went backward.
"I see we knew less than we thought about you, Alex," Carlisle said as he stared at Alex's new crimson eyes.
Though his tone appeared calm as a lake, it had an undeniable undertone of surprise and bewilderment.
Alex simply nodded to Carlisle's statement as he stared at the man in silence.
"Sit down, Alice," Carlisle said as he turned to his daughter.
"Right, sorry," Alice said as she sat back down.
"You aren't a vampire, are you? Vampires can't really hide the color of your eyes like you just did. We could, at most, use colored contact lenses," Carlisle asked.
Alex shook his head and answered the question.
"No, I am a vampire, though I could be called a different race of vampire from you guys. I'm more similar to a traditional folklore vampire, though I have none of the weaknesses usually described in media and books," Alex said.
Carlisle stood silent for a moment. He ingested every word Alex said as he tried to compute the situation, which had turned a complete one-eighty from what he thought the course of it was going to go.
Alice, however, looked quite different from Carlisle. Her expression was no longer anxious, and she even showed slight signs of a smile blooming on her face.
*Sigh*
Sighing for what felt like the hundredth time, Carlisle laid back on his chair fully and said.
"Well, you sure did surprise us, Alex. I really didn't think this was how this conversation was going to go. It makes it much less stressful but almost much more confusing at the same time," Carlisle said, his voice carrying a shallow tone of tiredness.
"There's more to this world than just one species of supernatural creatures. If vampires like you can exist, then who says other species can't?" Alex questioned Carlisle, who turned to face him once more.
"That's right. I do have to say that we have been quite ignorant of the supernatural world and maybe even egotistical to think that only we existed," Carlisle said.

I made it so that Alex didn't fully reveal all his cards, like his full transformation since the beginning, as I felt like that would be a cool card I could use as a bigger reveal in a later chapter.
