Scheduled Meeting

"So I would like for us to continue this conversation, but this really doesn't seem like the right place to do it. Also, don't tell Bella about any of this; she isn't a vampire and is truly only a regular human, and it's the same with Charlie," Alex said as he stood up from the bed.

Carlisle and Alice also stood up from their seated positions and came in front of Alex.

Carlisle extended his hand for a handshake, which Alex took with a smile on his face.

"Well then, we will make sure we don't tell those two," Carlisle said as he nodded toward Alex.

And then continued his words.

"I would like to invite you to our house tomorrow after school. The kids can take you in their car," Carlisle said as he offered his invitation to Alex.

Alex nodded as he replied to the man.

"Of course, thank you for inviting me to your home, im also excited to learn more from you about some questions i have" Alex said as he smiled.

Carlisle nodded and took his hand back.

"Well, I guess I'll get going now. I don't want to make Dad and Bella wait for too long. See you later, Doctor Carlisle, Alice," Alex said to the two vampires, who smiled and waved at him.

Heading outside of the office, Alex closed the door behind him and started heading outside of the hospital.

'That sure was nerve-racking, though it went much better than what my overthinking mind had imagined. I thought they would be much more hostile, but it seems like they're just as nice as they were portrayed to be in the books, ' Alex thought as he showed a slightly relieved smile on his face.

The walk to the parking lot was short, and Alex soon arrived at the old truck.

Bella was inside the truck while Charlie had parked his police car next to it.

Charlie, who had yet to enter the car as he waited for Alex, walked towards him as soon as his eyes landed on Alex.

"Are you all right? Did the doctor say anything was wrong?" Charlie asked though he knew that Carlisle would have told him if something was wrong with his boy.

Alex shook his head and answered Charlie with a smile.

"It was nothing, Dad. I just wanted to thank Alice for saving me from the van. I might not have even been here if she hadn't come at the right time, so I thought she deserved a heartfelt thank you," Alex said.

*Sigh*

Releasing a slow sigh, Charlie nodded as he said to Alex.

"I'm so glad that you and Bella are alright. I don't know what I would have done if something had happened to you guys. How would I even explain this to your mother." Charlie said as he patted Alex's back.

Alex froze for a moment and then mechanically turned his head towards Charlie.

"You didn't tell Mom, right?" Alex asked slowly.

"I had to, Alex. She has the right to know when an accident happens to her own children," Charlie said. He then stopped for a moment as if he remembered something and turned to Alex.

"Oh right, she told me to tell you guys to call her as soon as you came back home," Charlie said.

Alex felt a wave of tiredness wash over him like a tsunami instantly.

'Shes going to freak out for about an hour on the phone while i try to tell her that nothing happened, if she gets suspicious and doesnt believe me then she could also just straight up come here and i really dont want to deal with that right now whith all the vampire stuff thats going to happen soon' Alex thought as he released a slow sigh.

"All right, thanks for telling me. I'll go drive the truck since Bella's head still hurts a little," Alex said as he nodded toward the old truck.

"All right, just follow me from behind," Charlie said as he nodded towards Alex.

Alex and Charlie both headed to their respective cars.

Opening the drivers seat door, Alex hopped in and asked for the keys from Bella who just gave them to him.

Igniting the truck, Alex started following Charlie from behind as he drove towards their home.

"What's wrong, Bella? Why are you so deep in your thoughts?" Alex asked though he knew perfectly well what had gotten her so silent.

Bella didn't answer for a moment and then shook her head as if what she was thinking couldn't be it.

"Nothing, Alex. I just think I'm confused from the shock and thought I saw something, but it clearly just the shock," Bella said, though her tone sounded like she was unsure about the words as she spoke of them.

"Allright, make sure to get a good rest tonight then, im sure you will feel better tomorrow and then if you want we can talk about it?" Alex said as he patted her shoulder.

Bella nodded and thanked Alex.

"Right, thanks, Alex."

"What else is a brother for if not for being there when you need him?" Alex said as he smiled at her.

"Right, some brother you are," Bella said, though her tone was light, and the words were clearly said in a joking tone.

"I am, what do you mean," Alex said

The rest of the car ride was filled with banter as they headed home.
