Chapter 33:- Telling Kana the truth

Kana looks at Kenshin with a playful smirk, not sensing the gravity of the situation yet. "Sure, Ken-chan! What's so important? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Kenshin fidgets with his fingers nervously, unsure of how to put this. After taking a deep breath, he finally speaks. "Mom, I have memories from my past life. I was fully conscious, from the moment I was born."

*Kana raises an eyebrow, her playful demeanor turning into skepticism.* "Past life? Come on, Kenshin, are you trying to pull a fast one on me? You know I don't like stuff like that."

"I'm not, m.. mom. It's b.. be.. because that girl, sh... she was reborn too. With her memories intact."

Kenshin clenched his jacket tightly above his heart, feeling his heartbeat growing faster by the second. "It's... nee-san. Your daughter."

Kana's expression shifts from skepticism to shock, and her eyes narrow with growing fury. "What are you saying? That Akane... my daughter... was your lover in a past life? This isn't some twisted joke, is it?"

Her anger ignites, and she grabs Kenshin by the collar, shaking him. "How could you say something like that? Are you trying to make a fool of me?"

"I'm not." Kenshin said quietly. Seeing his serious gaze, and knowing the kind of person he was, Kana figured he was telling the truth. "Mom, I know it's a lot to take in, but it's true."

Kana's anger flares, and she shoves Kenshin away forcefully. Her face is a mask of fury and disbelief. "So you're telling me that not only did you and Akane have some past life connection, but you also let those feelings carry over into this life? How could you keep this from me?!"

Her hands tremble with rage as she summons her adamantine sealing chains, her voice rising. "I don't know Akane well, but she's still my daughter! And you think you can just waltz in here with this insane story and expect me to be calm about it?!"

She lashes out, sending Kenshin crashing into nearby trees with powerful strikes. "How dare you involve her in your past life nonsense! Do you have any idea how much damage you could cause?!"

Kenshin sputters out blood after crashing through the tree, struggling to get up. "I'm sorry, but the moment I met her, there was something about her that made me unable to think of her as my sister. And by the time I confirmed it, things had escalated too far.

I never got over her ever since I was reborn, and when I learned about nee-san's truth, I couldn't control myself. I couldn't think straight.

It was the same with her. She never got over her feelings for me. And when she learned about my truth, she couldn't hold back either."

'Couldn't think straight?! That's very unlike him. He's not the kind of person to lose control.' Kana thought as he spoke.

Kana's rage didn't subside, but her blows became less forceful as she listened to Kenshin's confession. Her expression remained conflicted, torn between anger and disbelief.

"How could you let this happen? How could you let your feelings from a past life interfere with your responsibilities in this one?" She paces angrily, her chains still at the ready, their spikes digging into his skin.

"You're saying you both lost control? That you were both driven by these past life emotions to the point of disregarding everything else? Do you have any idea what you've done?"

Her gaze is filled with anguish as she struggles to process the enormity of the situation. "Even if I believe you... even if I accept that this is real, how do you expect me to just be okay with this? I'm your mother! And she's your sister, not some random girl!"

"Please, mom, I beg you." Kenshin said, sputtering out blood and bowing his head on the ground. "Please, we need you."

Kana's chains tighten around Kenshin, her fury still palpable. She takes a deep breath, her face a mask of conflicting emotions. After a moment, she loosens the chains slightly, though her eyes still burn with anger.

"You know what you're asking of me, Kenshin? To accept something so... unnatural. Do you understand how this looks? How it feels? How I feel?" Her voice cracks slightly, a mix of rage and desperation.

Seeing Kenshin's bloodied face and hearing his plea, her resolve wavers. She kneels down, gripping his shoulders tightly, tears forming in her eyes.

"I raised you to be strong, to protect our family. And now you're asking me to understand and accept this?" Her voice softens, though the pain is evident. "Tell me, Kenshin, how can I support you in something that's so wrong?"

Tears began flowing from his eyes at her pained words. "I'm sorry, I know I'm being unreasonable. But please, I can't.... I can't ignore the feelings I died with. I just can't, not that I know that she is nee-san in this life. Even if we tried to ignore them, we'd never truly be siblings in our hearts."

Kana's anger subsides as she sees Kenshin's tears and hears his heartfelt apology. Her expression softens, though she still looks deeply troubled.

"I... I understand that you're struggling, Kenshin. But this is so complicated." She gently wipes away her tears, trying to maintain her composure.

"You've always been my brave, strong son, but this... this is tearing me apart. I need time to process this. I need to think about how to handle this without making everything worse."

Kana helps Kenshin to his feet, her gaze filled with a mixture of pain and sympathy. "I'll try to understand, but you must be patient with me. This is a lot to take in, and I need to figure out how to deal with it for both your sake and Akane's."

Kenshin hugged Kana tightly, crying out freely now. "I'm sorry, mom. I'm really..... really sorry."

Kana hesitates for a moment, then wraps her arms around Kenshin, her own tears beginning to flow. She holds him tightly, her voice choked with emotion.

"It's not your fault, Kenshin. I just... I just need time to come to terms with this. We'll figure this out together, alright? But you need to give me time to understand and accept what's happened."

She gently strokes his back, trying to offer comfort despite her own turmoil. "I love you, and I want what's best for you. I'll try to be there for you and Akane, even if it's hard for me."

"Thank you, mom. I love you." Kenshin said, still sobbing.

"I love you too, Kenshin," Kana whispers softly, holding him close. "We'll face this together, no matter how difficult it gets. Just remember, no matter what happens, you and Akane are important to me. We'll find a way through this."
