Chapter thirty eight

Alina and Lizzy stepped into the grand driveway of Marcus's mansion, the night air filled with the sounds of laughter and music. Alina paused and took a deep breath, her eyes wide as she took in the scene.

"Lizzy, I don't think this is a good idea," she said, her voice wavering. "Marcus didn't invite me. I shouldn't be here." She turned to go, but Lizzy grabbed her hand and pulled her back.

"Where do you think you're going?" Lizzy said firmly. "Marcus didn't invite you, but Joe did, and even Marcus's mother told you to come. Isn't that what you told me? So stop acting like a wuss and brave up. We're going to this party." With that, she drew Alina along with her, determination in her step.

As they walked through the grand entrance, Alina couldn't help but marvel at the opulence. The mansion was a testament to wealth and taste, every corner of it screaming luxury.
