Unexpected Beginnings

"Mia, look at me," Mikee said, more firm this time. "You're gonna be fine."

"You've got this," Mikee said, her voice steady and sure. "You've always been the strongest person I know, and you're going to come out of this even stronger. We both will."

Mia sighed, letting the weight of her worries lift slightly. "I just don't know if I can handle everything. It's all so much."

"You can and you will," Mikee insisted. "And guess what? You don't have to do it alone. I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere. We're a team, remember?"

Mia smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. "Yeah, we are."

"Now, let's get out there and show the world what we're made of," Mikee said, her eyes shining with determination. "Together, we're unstoppable."

Mia felt a renewed sense of purpose and excitement. Being around Mikee's level of confidence was so infectious, she started to fully believe in herself too.

After dinner, they sprawled out on the couch, Misty nestled between them. Mikee had a mischievous glint in her eye that Mia recognized all too well.

"Alright, spill it," Mia said, poking Mikee in the side. "You've been holding something back all day. What's going on?"

Mikee grinned. "Well, I wanted it to be a surprise, but I guess I can't keep it in any longer. I'm moving to the city!"

Mia's eyes widened in shock. "Wait, what? You're moving here? When did this happen?"

"Surprise!" Mikee exclaimed, throwing her arms up in the air. "I got a job offer I couldn't refuse, and I'm just about to close the deal for an apartment just a few blocks away from you. We'll practically be neighbors!"

Mia couldn't believe her ears. "Are you serious? This is amazing! Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"I wanted it to be a big reveal," Mikee said, laughing. "I knew you'd be thrilled, but I wanted to see the look on your face when I told you."

"Well, mission accomplished," Mia said, hugging her tightly. "I'm so excited! This is going to be incredible. We'll get to hang out all the time!"

"Exactly," Mikee said, beaming. "We can have weekly dinners, movie nights, and you'll never have to worry about running out of food because I'll be here to cook for you."

"Weekly dinners? Girl you're lucky if I'm not attached to your hip every day of the week!" Mia laughed, feeling a warmth spread through her chest.

"Everyday? I honestly have no complaints about that, as long as you clean up after yourself. I'm so glad to be back and to be able to be closer to you!" Mikee replied

"I can't believe it. This is the best news ever."

The rest of the evening was filled with excited chatter about Mikee's move, their future plans, and all the adventures they would have together. Mia felt a sense of completeness she hadn't felt in a long time. With Mikee moving to the city, she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, she would never face them alone.

As they finally drifted off to sleep, Mia couldn't help but smile. Life had a way of surprising her in the best possible ways, and she was ready to embrace every moment of it.

The next morning, they woke up early, feeling the excitement of the previous day still buzzing in the air. Mia stretched and yawned, and after washing her face headed out to the living room.

There on the couch was Mikee, already up and scrolling through her phone, her blankets neatly folded.

"Morning," Mia said, her voice groggy.

"Morning," Mikee replied with a grin. "I'm looking at furniture to fill up the new apartment. It's got a great view, a big kitchen, and it's pet-friendly. Misty will love it!"

Mia's heart swelled with happiness. "This is really happening, isn't it?"

"It sure is," Mikee said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Get ready, Mia. We're about to have the time of our lives."

As they got ready to start the day, Mia felt a renewed sense of purpose and joy. She had her best friend by her side, a promising future ahead, and a heart full of hope. Whatever challenges came her way, she knew she could face them with confidence and determination. Life was an adventure, and she was ready to embrace every moment of it.

After breakfast, Mia helped Mikee bring up to her apartment the last of her bags that were shipped over. Misty followed them around, curious and slightly anxious about the commotion.

Mia and Mikee got ready and dressed for the day, and prepared to head out.

"Alright, Misty," Mikee said, crouching down to scratch the dog behind the ears. "We'll be back later with a new place for you to explore."

Misty barked in response, wagging her tail with affection.

Mia chuckled. "She's going to love the new apartment. So many new spots to claim as her own."

"I hope so," Mikee replied, standing up and stretching. "But first, furniture shopping. I can't wait to turn that place into a home."

"And I'll be off to work," Mia said, grabbing her bag and keys. "We'll catch up later tonight?"

"You bet. Maybe we can celebrate with a little takeout and wine?" Mikee said, wiggling her eyebrows up and down.

"Sounds perfect." Mia replied with a smile as she started fixing her things for the office, "I'm heading out first for coffee over at the Alley before heading to the office, you feel like tagging along?"

"I thought you'd never ask" Mikee said as she walked towards the door, signaling that it was time to get going.

They stepped out into the crisp morning air, the city already buzzing with life. As they headed out to get coffee at the Alley, they walked down toward the main street, and were deep in conversation, discussing the layout of Mikee's new apartment and potential decorating ideas.

Suddenly, Mia collided into someone as they were rounding the corner.

"Whoa, sorry about that!" the person exclaimed, steadying himself and the large coffee he was carrying.

Of course, who else could Mia have collided with, but Andrew. Solidifying his rank as the bane of her existence.
