After the phone call with Delilah, Jessica stared at her phone for a moment, her thoughts shifting from the playful morning she had just shared with Damon to the more serious tone of Delilah's request.
She got out of bed, throwing on Damon's shirt again, and headed to her bedroom to freshen up. As she splashed cool water on her face, she thought about their father and the exchange with Claudia the previous day.
It all seemed like such a long time ago. A lot had changed since she walked out of Delilah's apartment just yesterday. She had been so lost in her little world with Damon and had momentarily forgotten everything else. But now she had to face reality again.
By the time she was dressed and heading downstairs, the smell of pancakes and coffee wafted through the house once more. Damon stood at the sink washing the utensils he had used, his back turned to her, humming softly to himself.
