Mirabeth (4)

Writer's POV:

"How can you prove that I am her?" Mirabeth asked.

"Through a Blood Matching Ritual."

"Ritual, where will you find a doctor that can perform rituals?"

"We don't need a doctor, we just need some ingredients, our blood and a witch."

"Where will you find a witch, this is not Brussels, this is Krems where only humans reside."

"I am a witch, if you are Herdisan then you are also one, have you never done anything differently before, although there are spells to be learnt, before you can perform rituals but your Manta should be active."

"Excuse me but I don't think I am Herdisan, because I am not a witch and I don't wish to be one."

"You mean to tell me that you have never experienced an immense amount of energy surging through your bones before?"

"No I have never, so please let me go."

"No way I am sure you are her, just lend me a reasonable amount of blood and I can prove it, your Manta must be dormant or maybe this lifestyle has weakened your Manta, but I am sure you are Herdisan."

"Listen, I know you want to find your sister so badly, but I am not her."

"No you are Herdisan, you must be her. I felt it, from the moment I saw you, I just knew that you were my Sister. Please just let me perform this ritual, please."

Mirabeth couldn't say no to the desperate girl, she just had to say yes.

Besides if the girl wanted she would have taken it forcefully or maybe while she was asleep but she chose to beg her. The girl freed Mirabeth from the chains, and started the ritual.

They both sat facing each other, then the girl used burnt ash to draw a circle and placed a bowl in its middle. With the use of a knife she cut her thumb and let the blood flow into the bowl, then she grabbed Mirabeth's hands and did the same to her. Mirabeth almost fainted from the immense pain.

After this was done she started reciting chants, suddenly Mirabeth started feeling a sharp pain in her head and she started screaming.

As soon as the girl heard her screams she ended her chants and ran to hug her.

"I just knew it, I was sure you were Herdisan."

"What do you mean?"

"We both felt pain, if you were not my sister then only I would have experienced the pain."

"But you didn't scream?"

"It wasn't that painful, yours only hurt more because of your weak Manta, let's go home, Mother will be so happy".

'Just under one day I experienced such a change. Earlier I was about to be sold by my presumed parents and now I find out that I am a witch. If this is true and I have a real family out there in Brussels then this must be another chance to be happy again'

"Are you my only sibling?"

"No, you have 17 sisters excluding me and 23 brothers."

"How is that possible?"

"Well, I will explain it along the way, but for now you need to get something to eat."

'I always thought that coming to the Witchers territory would give me a true home. But I was wrong, my sisters saw me as a competition, my brothers spared no time to bond with me, my Mother found me too worthless to care, and to my Father I was just another child. I had only two people I fancied. My twin Sister Keyleth and Ceres, the love of my life.' Herdis thought to herself, while in a deep slumber.

Herdis felt a tap on her back, which woke her up from her dreams. When she looked outside the carriage windows, she saw the Witchers Cavern.

'All my life I have been caged, first I was caged as Mirabeth the daughter of a Timber Merchant, Then as Princess Herdis the 16th daughter of King Negah, and now The soon to be Queen of the Werewolf Clan. When will I get a chance to live on my own terms? Some dreams don't come true.'

"We have arrived." The Coachman sang aloud

"Should I carry you." Asked Razar

"And why would you do that?"

"You have been hurt badly, that's why."

"I think I can manage till I get a healer to assist me. I don't want to look that weak."

"I have been meaning to ask?"

"Go ahead."

"Do you maybe not know a spell that can heal your wounds?."

"I am a dormant Witch." Herdis replied curtly.

"That's fine, I will just hold your hands then."

"Aren't you upset?"

"Is there a particular reason for me to be upset?"

"You were given such a worthless woman to marry, don't you wish for a strong partner."

"I wish for a wise partner, strength is just additional. We should get down."

And just like that he got down from the carriage without letting her speak, the Coachman opened the carriage doors for her and stretched his hands to assist her. Before she could grab his hands. Razar beat him to it and held her hands, he assisted her to come down and held her waist with his right hand and held her left arm with his left hand.

As they made their way to the door of Witchers Cavern, Herdis caught sight of Rebekah being taken to the back by some maids.

'It's a weird rule here that the maids do not use the front door, only the back door.'

On reaching the door they were welcomed by The King and The Queen and some council officials. They bowed their heads in respect and Razar and Herdis bowed theirs in unison.

"Welcome Prince Razar. Thank you for accepting our request." Said King Negah.

"Come with me, Herdis let the men talk, we have a lot to catch up on." Mother said.

'When did we become so close.'

Herdis was about to decline but Razar beat her to it.
