Here is a sneak peak into the novel;

Never before had I laughed so hard at something, only to realize it was meant to be serious. I couldn't help it, so I asked her again, needing to confirm that I had heard her correctly.

"Shylene, could you please repeat what you just said? I don't think I heard you right."

She let out a sigh before speaking, "My family are vampires, Trevor. When they look at you, they see nothing but food."

I erupted into laughter once more.

"Haha, Shylene, you've got to be kidding me. My ribs ache from laughing so hard. Are you trying to tell me a bedtime story or something?"

"I'm being-serious, Trevor."

"No way. You must be high on something.  Grown-ups like us don't talk about vampires as if they're real. They're just creatures from movies. If there were vampires in real life, surely it would be all over the news, right?"

"I'm a vampire too."
