The drops from the icy cave wake me up. I slowly open my eyes, feeling the penetrating cold of the cave as my makeshift bed, made of leaves and branches, creaks under my weight. I carefully get up, feeling the numbness in my limbs from the freezing night.
Looking around the gloomy surroundings, I see the stalactites hanging from the ceiling of the cave, with drops of frozen water rhythmically falling to the ground. I take a deep breath, noticing the frigid air filling my lungs, and decide it's time to light a fire to warm my body.
I gather some dry branches I had brought from the forest the day before and carefully place them in the center of the cave. With trembling limbs, I light sparks on the branches I found near the lake.
Crackling
—Pika!
—Pika!
—Pika!
—Pikachu!
Static
Sparks shoot out from all over my body, heading to a point on the branches where I focus my electricity.
After several attempts, the branches finally ignite and a warm light illuminates the cave.
Fire
The small embers generated by the electric discharge cause a small fire contained in the cave.
The small campfire begins to emit a comforting heat, and I reach out my hands towards the flames, feeling the heat run through my body and dissipate the cold.
With the heat generated by the lively flame, I sit on my chair that is actually a stone, watching how my small body stops shaking from the cold in response to the warmth.
"This must be a divine punishment for not falling into hell."
My original body's appearance was replaced by that of the most famous Pokémon on planet Earth, this being a chubby form of a stuffed animal.
Thinking about how the day before I was complaining about my fate and suddenly the angel appeared who gave me the chance of a second life in exchange for not making the same mistakes I regret again.
"Still, I don't understand where I've been sent."
Using my new abilities, such as superior vision, I was able to take refuge in the deep cave without fear. It's certainly not night vision, but the darkness of the night is much clearer compared to my other body.
With the little I was able to observe the other day, it allowed me to speculate about the location where I am.
Assuming that I am not living in the Pokémon world, since there are no animals in it, and in the real world there are no Pikachu loose in any meadow, I must be trapped in some kind of alternate reality.
"This isn't like those fanfics where you're reincarnated in a medieval world fulfilling a power fantasy."
Sigh
At the moment I have a short list of things to do, which are:
1. Get used to my new body
2. Find somewhere safe
3. Get to know this world
4. Eat
5. Lose weight (I'm in the body of a fat Pikachu)
With things clear, I head to the improvised campfire that I previously used as my bed. To put it out, I use the dirt and rocks in the cave.
Smoke rises in spirals, and the last sparks die out. Moving my round body, I head towards the exit of the cave, guiding myself through the small cracks that let in the raindrops.
Crackle
My red cheeks begin to generate a few discharges to light my way through the cave.
"I have a feeling that going out is a bad idea."
My ears begin to twitch in response to my instinct.
Trembling
The rocks begin to move dust throughout the cave, creating a dense cloud of dust.
Trembling
The cloud of dust doesn't stop me from moving my little legs like crazy to survive the collapse.
Trembling
"I'm going to die."
Trembling
"I'm going to die."
Trembling
"I'm going to die."
Trembling
"I'm going to die."
Trembling
"I'm going to die."
Trembling
"I'm going to die."
Trembling
"I'm going to die."
Trembling
"I'm going to die."
Trembling
"I'm going to die."
Trembling
With the effort of all my energies, I end up taking a leap of faith towards what I believe is the exit.
Trembling
—Pikaaa!
Tremor
Collapse
With more faith than odds in my favor, I somehow emerge alive from a safe burial.
The moment I manage to raise my chubby body, I hear the destroyed cave begin to vibrate along with the entire forest, revealing a giant worm emerging from the ground, surrounded by multiple people following it.

With the skill of an inhuman, a man in feudal Japanese garb mercilessly cuts through the thick skin of the enormous bug. His sword shines with a fierce blue flash, and his movements are fast and precise, as if he were in a deadly dance.

Watching in awe and fear, I notice how the other people, similarly dressed in traditional attire, join the battle. Some shoot arrows, others throw daggers, and several others use strange abilities that seem taken from fantasy tales.
I hide behind a fallen tree, my small legs shaking as the fight intensifies. Each blow and cut from the group of warriors seems to weaken the giant worm further, which roars in pain and fury.
From my hiding place, I see how the giant worm, weakened and wounded, launches a last desperate attack. With a unified cry, the warriors attack in unison, finally managing to knock it down. The monster falls to the ground with a thunderous thud, and silence returns to the forest.
The beast's fangs fall as if they were melted butter, bathing its entire body in a purple substance that imitates blood. The other people are in charge of finishing off the enormous corpse of what was once a living being.
The young men in robes who look like priests use hand signs, forming a strange pose. As their strange rituals end, the sky begins to take on its normal glow.
"I hadn't noticed the lack of light thanks to my vision and the dust cloud," I think as I try to come to terms with what happened.
Thinking back, I quickly reflect on everything that happened from my arrival to the earthquake that nearly ended my second life.
