The Mist

"James. I need you to consider concentrating on focusing on developing the magic system your making here. That's important role for your future. I can still teach you combat and even bring in some of friends to help you but I think you to invest your energy into your talent. What do you think?"

Angus with James while Mara, Ava and Dago all stared at them. James staff was behind his back attached his jacket magically.

James folded his arms across his chest. "Okay." He said.

Angus shook his head. "I'm asking you what your thinking about the role first."

James shook his head. "I told you what I thought. It will be nearly impossible to do now with amount of attacks coming our way. We won't be able to keep any secrets. But that's the role you want me to fill so be it."

Angus sighed and turned to Ava. "How was Mara in the fight?"

Ava blinked and wiped a hand down her face. "Good. Mare is an excellent duelist and competent in defence magic she'll do well to get more instruction but defending our core areas is what I think is best suited for her."

Angus nodded. "Okay. That's where she'll shine then. Dago is pretty good holding his own but I still would like him to work on security measures and wards. I'll scout for wizards and fighters willing to come and help us here. Ava help Mara improve on her skills and lend a hand to James in spell engineering when he needs it. I'll handle battle strategies for the coming days and months. That should be it for now. Oh one more thing. James. At the end of final stage will this place need me as the boss here or can at some point their will be a new leader installed?"

James nodded. "At the end of the final stage if we reach that point then yes. You can assign the next leader of this place but that leader has to be someone strong in combat and a veteran warrior wizard at your level or higher you would respect to lead Hawks Landing."

Angus nodded. "After the completion of this place then I'll hand leadership over to you."

"Dad. Thank you for the compliment but I am not a warrior or will ever be at your level. It is best like I said to choose someone at your level or higher. Respectfully."

"Do you have any suggestions?" Angus asked.

James waved a hand toward Mara. "Mara at some point in the process of finishing Hawks Landing would a good selection or any wizard strong in defensive and offensive magic."

Angus grunted glancing at Mara who was looking pale but said nothing. He looked back at James. "James what type of magic have you created here. Do you have a name for it?"

James shrugged. "No." He said.

"Why not. I thought you would have come up with a name by now. Have you thought of a name?"

James rolled his shoulders. "I have." He said.

Angus grimaced. "Okay. You have your reasons for not telling me. You can keep back your reasons but can you give me at least a name." He asked.

"I would rather not Dad and it isn't important what I call the magic here. What matters is whether or not it is useful to us for the purpose of this place." James said. "If you need a name give it any name you would like to."

"Okay. But I would like to hear your name first. I am very interested to hear it son." Angus insisted.

"When the sword came here from the east when you took it took on a bit of your power and as you used it in the sky in combination with the magic you have learned and is natural to you that created first layers of the foundation. The power was used belonged to you so are by default it's creator. I only got an idea for how to use it by luck and desire to prove myself. Your the founder of this realm so you can name whatever you would like?"

"You didn't answer my question and you did name this place Hawks Landing."

James nodded his head slowly. "I did. But you haven't acknowledged it as the name at all. You still call Hawks Landing this place. Like that isn't the proper name." He said and turned to Dago to see him writing down something. "Dago. Make sure to get that part."

Dago nodded. "I will."

"James. I told you I don't care as much about this place as you do. You have a passion and love for Hawks Landing. It isn't my place."

James nodded his place. "What do you think of this place?"

Angus shook his head. "My question. Why don't you name the magic used here?"

"Because this place doesn't belong to me. It belongs more to you. Do you think of this place as more extension of the ranch maybe?" James asked.

Angus shook his head. "I don't think of this place at all. I have my spot. It's the ranch below this place. Why not name?"

"Your weird dad. I don't care to give the magic here a name. It doesn't belong it exist." He said.

"The Mist." Mara said said with a smile.

"What?" Angus said he looked at her.

James sighed rubbing right on the side of his right temple. Mara saw it and her smile fell away.

Angus looked between them. "Mara. Is The Mist the name of the magic James chose."

Mara shook her head. "No. It just heard somewhere. I thought might be right. Sorry." She said.

Angus sighed. "Okay. I like the name Mist is good." He said.

James shrugged. "Okay. If you like the name then that's what it's going to be. So when you think about this place what do you consider it?" He asked.

Angus frowned shaking his head. "No. It's Hawks Landing. That's what the name is. James how long do you expect your Patronus to be active and keeping the jackasses away?"

"We have until maybe 10 a.m. tomorrow morning at the latest and-damn." James closed his eyes.

"-and what?" Angus asked.

"It's not a patronus. It's something different." James said calmly. "No I don't have a name for it yet."

Angus grunted and nodded. "Okay. That it's it for the formal meeting. Sense we have a bit of time. Everyone can maybe catch up on some work or a bit of reading!"

James turned disappearing from the tower to appear in the library. Dago and Mara appeared a second later. His wand flew into his wand as he approached the whiteboard.

"James! I didn't mean to say that. I was just thinking out loud." Mara said.

James shook his head. "It doesn't matter anymore. I told you secrets would be flying out none stop from now one."

"James. You got a spare notebook I can use? I just ran out of space in my old one." Angus asked him.

James held out his hand and a book flew out from a near by bookshelf in this palm. He turned to Angus to see him staring at him as he took the thick leather-bound notebook. "It's a fresh one. It should last you a bit."

"Thanks, son." Angus said taking the notebook.

James nodded. "Anything you need dad." He said.

Angus nodded and disappeared without another word. James turned to Dago. "You got any ideas going in your head for security bro?"

Dago nodded. "I got idea plenty but I'm going to avoid saying the shit out of loud. I'll put it down in my language. Can chill a bit get your rest while you can mate." He said and gave James a fist bump.

James straighted his arms out and looked at Mara's troubled face and laughed. He took her cheeks with his hands and kissed her lips once, twice and third time until she started laughing. He hugged grinning down at her gaze.

"Stop worrying." James laughed.

"I'm sorry about Grandpa Harry." Mara said.

James sighed tiredly and led her to a couch where he sat down. Mara sat down on his lap hugging his neck. "Will you be okay?"

"Yeah. I will okay. Just now. Later. He was afraid. He seemed happy though. It was like he finally relaxed and be at peace." James said.

"How did he-" Mara began but stopped.

"It was the light. When I spread it out over Hawks Landing it was meant to send back in dementor or creature that didn't belong here. I forgot to late what it might do to Grandpa Harry."

"James. Get some sleep bro. We need you to have to be at your best. I'll have some new safety guards up and ideas for you to look at and improve or construct." Dago said. "Mara no more questions. Save that shit for later when get past this stage in the plan." He said.

"Hey!" James began but Mara put a finger to his lips.

Mara stared at him. "Close your eyes. Dago is right. You need to rest and try not to dream." She said with a smile.

James closed his eyes and quickly fell into a deep sleep.
