Chapter 3: Just You and Me

"Yeah, it's rare to have a break, so I naturally wanted to come back and check things out," Shisui replied with a smile, unaware of the calculations going on in Yuhara's mind. He had just completed a mission and planned to rest. He originally wanted to find Itachi, but unfortunately, Itachi was still busy. Despite both being in the Anbu, their units were different and located separately, making it hard to keep track of each other's schedules. Running into Yuhara, however, was a pleasant surprise, though he noticed Yuhara seemed troubled by something.

"What's going on? We're friends, right? If you have trouble, maybe I can help," Shisui offered.

"There's a lot of trouble, personal and family issues—they're all troublesome," Yuhara sighed, his words causing Shisui's previously happy expression to shift. His face stiffened, and his smile faded.

"Let's not talk about such headaches right now, okay?" Shisui said with a bitter smile, shaking his head. "Is there another family meeting?"

"Something like that. Every time it's like going to the market—extremely frustrating." Yuhara shook his head, then continued, "But it's becoming clear that the extremists are likely to gain the upper hand."

With less than a year before the Uchiha clan's annihilation, the hawks and doves within the clan had yet to dominate the family discourse completely. This balance was maintained largely due to Uchiha Fugaku, whose actions kept a fragile peace between the two factions. However, this also meant the clan never truly unified.

A crucial catalyst for the Uchiha's rebellion was Danzo's attack on Shisui, representing the doves. Shisui's death drove the doves to side with the hawks. While these events had not yet occurred, Yuhara knew he had some time to act. Yet, the hawks indeed held a significant advantage.

"It's a huge problem," Shisui sighed deeply. "If the clan continues like this, we will fall into the abyss."

"Yes, it's a big problem, but you and Itachi are still here," Yuhara said meaningfully. "I don't think they're completely in the dark."

Shisui's face changed slightly. He quickly scanned the surroundings and relaxed a bit when he confirmed no one else was around. He understood Yuhara's implications, which made his expression grim. He and Itachi's actions could indeed be seen as betraying the clan.

"Watch what you say, Yuhara," Shisui warned in a low voice. "This can cause a lot of trouble, and entering the Anbu was the clan leader's idea."

"Of course, I know it was the clan leader's idea," Yuhara replied with a faint smile. "But I didn't say much, did I? Why are you so tense?"

"You..." Shisui felt frustrated, unsure how to respond to Yuhara's insinuations.

"Everyone's not stupid. Some things are open secrets," Yuhara sighed. "To get information, you need trust, and the best way to gain trust is to offer information, right?"

Yuhara's words made Shisui close his eyes momentarily. He was essentially calling them double agents, and Shisui couldn't deny it. Double agents, however, often had a bias, and only they knew where their true loyalties lay.

"But since you mentioned the clan leader, let me ask you a question," Yuhara said, seeing Shisui's silence. A smile spread across his face as he spoke softly.

"The clan leader?"

"Yes, the clan leader. How powerful do you think he is?"

"The clan leader controls the clan, so naturally, his power is significant."

"Then why hasn't he done something to stabilize the clan's chaos?"

Yuhara's question left Shisui stunned. His expression shifted from confusion to disbelief and finally to shock. He never imagined Yuhara, whom he grew up with, would dare to question the clan leader's control and authority.

How could he ask such a question? How was Shisui supposed to answer?

Yet, Yuhara's question made him think: why hadn't the clan leader taken action to quell the chaos?

Seeing Shisui's dazed expression, Yuhara knew his words had planted a seed of doubt. Shisui wasn't stupid, but his perspective was limited by his upbringing. As a transmigrator, Yuhara had studied politics and philosophy, giving him a broader perspective.

"I think you know he has the power to unite the clan. But look at the current state of the clan—it's a mess internally and the relationship with the village is deteriorating. A clan needs unity to avoid internal strife and focus on common goals. If the clan leader suppressed dissenting voices and sided with the village, wouldn't things be different?"

At this point, Yuhara revealed his true intentions. While he knew the Uchiha's problems weren't solely due to Fugaku, he was a significant factor in their downfall. Steps needed to be taken gradually, starting with planting doubt in Shisui's mind.

"Actually, I always believed that only two people could change the clan."

"Two... people?"

Shisui still felt dazed, his mind echoing Yuhara's words.

"Yes, two people."

Yuhara's smile grew brighter as he pointed at Shisui and then at himself.

"You and me."
