Chapter Four: A Favor

The Duke Marshal's office was decorated extravagantly. Every detail of it screamed wealth and power. The walls were covered with expensive paintings depicting various scenes from famous battles—all of which were depicted during the great wars fought by the noble families of the kingdom.

"I beg your pardon?" Duke Marshal blinked before looking at Duke Ashwood questioningly.

"I would like to meet the Argents," Duke Ashwood repeated firmly.

"Why do you want to meet them?" Duke Marshal asked.

"I need to confirm some things."

"What things? You have not even been near them before," Duke Marshal asked suspiciously.

Glancing at his cup, Duke Ashwood replied, "I've heard Grand Duke Argent has the largest army in the Empire. And with the impending war, I would like to work with him."

Placing his glass down, Duke Marshal sighed, "My dear friend, you ask for a very difficult favor. But very well, I'll see what I can do."

"Oh, by the way, how is your father?"

"He is doing well. Currently, he is on vacation with mother," Duke Ashwood replied as he drank the wine.

Tsking, Duke Marshal complained, "That old fool really knows how to pressure his 25-year-old son." Pretending he heard nothing, Duke Ashwood bid farewell to Duke Marshal.

**Next Day**

The gentle morning sun shone through the window as the morning breeze gently blew through the room, carrying a warm scent with it.

Sitting upright, Sage slowly regained consciousness. The first thing that entered her vision was the sunlight peeking through the blinds and casting its beautiful beam over the curtains.

It caused Sage's emerald green eyes to blink open. Once they fully adjusted to the brightness of the room, Sage blankly looked at the air before releasing were she was, and slowly pulled herself up from the bed sheets that was covering her.

As soon as she sat up, the door opened and a bunch of maids poured iinto the room. Seeing Sage awake, they quickly curtsied and started helping Sage with dressing herself as they helped her brush her hair.

After having breakfast consisting of fresh fruits and cream filled pastries, they dressed her in a simple, white dress that hugged her waist tightly and showed off her slim figure perfectly, along with white stockings and ankle boots.

After they finished, the maids left as quickly as they came in. After they were gone, Sage took one look at her surroundings before sighing heavily and resting her head against the headboard.

'According to the calendar, I have been asleep for 3 years,' Sage slowly got up and walked toward her vanity table. Sitting down, she reached for the leftmost corner and pulled open the drawer. In it, a Prussian blue book with gold highlights could be seen. Staring at the book blankly, she picked it up and slowly flipped through it.

"Hhhh!" Sighing gently, she closed the diary. Unconsciously, she reached toward her sides, where she would normally place her phone.

"Oh right, I'm no longer on Earth," Sage mumbled under her breath. She put the diary back in its place and leaned forward to rest her chin on the palm of her hand.

Her mind drifted away as she watched the bright sun dance on the windowsill.

'It's been 29 years since I saw everyone, luckily I kept a journal.' She thought as she looked at the Prussian blue book beside her.

Looking at the book again, she wondered, 'If I remember correctly, the day I received this specific book, I lost a bet with Ragnelle and almost died... Oh right, it was the day I got engaged to my fiance... Hm.. That reminds me, who was my fiance?'

Getting up, she walked towards her wardrobe and searched for a small compartment. Opening it, her eyes fell on the box.

Taking a step closer to it, she grabbed the velvet box and placed it on the floor. She squatted and then opened it.

Inside, books of different colors greeted her. "Hmm, Year 261, 262, 63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70. Found it!"

The Lilac book had the year 270, she skipped to the 4th month of the 6th year of the reign of Emperor Raoul III, her uncle. It was the same year she got engaged. And the year she turned 14 years old.
