Aside from that accidental night before marriage, they had been sleeping in separate rooms ever since they wed.
But now, at the old house, they definitely couldn't continue to sleep separately.
Xia Fanxing didn't know what Mu Hanchen was thinking.
Could it be that he really intended for them to live in the old house until they had a child?
How could that be possible!
She sat opposite Mu Hanchen, her face full of worry as she asked, "Now that Grandpa and Grandma insist on us living here, what about our divorce?"
Mu Hanchen looked at her with a complex gaze and said helplessly, "Grandma's health is the priority. She can't handle any shocks right now, so we have to do as she says. As for the divorce, let's delay that discussion."
Xia Fanxing frowned slightly, but even if she was unwilling, it seemed they had no other choice.
"But there's only one bed in the upstairs room. How are the two of us supposed to sleep?"
She definitely didn't want to sleep on the floor—her back couldn't take it.
Mu Hanchen's lips curved slightly, "Didn't Grandma say she wants us to have a child? We'll sleep however it's necessary to have a child."
"What kind of joke is that!" Xia Fanxing almost jumped up in anger.
She was about to divorce him, how could they have a child!
Mu Hanchen loosened his tie around his neck and said indifferently, "Then don't sleep. I must sleep on the bed, anyway."
"Please, you're a man, and I'm a woman. You sleep on the bed, and you expect me to sleep on the floor?"
This man had no gentlemanly demeanor whatsoever.
"So because I'm a man, I should sleep on the floor? Miss Xia, you're being quite unreasonable. If it really won't work, then we'll just have to tell the truth to Grandma and hope her health can handle it."
Having said that, Mu Hanchen made to head upstairs.
Xia Fanxing immediately followed, "Don't go, you win. I'll sleep on the floor."
When night came, it was time to sleep.
Xia Fanxing made a bed for herself on the floor with a heart full of resentment, "Mu Hanchen, what kind of man are you, a miser. You bully me at home, and you still bully me here. If it weren't for fearing Grandma couldn't handle it, I wouldn't stay in the same room with you."
She muttered to herself while laying out the bedding and didn't notice someone standing behind her.
"How did I bully you?" Mu Hanchen's voice, cold and detached, reminded the woman sitting on the floor of his return.
Xia Fanxing trembled all over in surprise and looked back at the man who suddenly appeared, "How come you don't make a sound when you walk?"
Wasn't he supposed to be in the study discussing matters with Grandpa? When did he come back?
Mu Hanchen stared at Xia Fanxing with a half-smile, "Isn't it because you were too loud cursing me, that you didn't hear my footsteps?"
Xia Fanxing coughed twice, "It's getting late, I'm going to sleep. Please, Mr. Mu, keep it down."
After speaking, she dove headfirst into the quilt.
Mu Hanchen watched her for a moment, said nothing, and proceeded to shed his outer clothes before heading to the bathroom for a shower.
It was only when Xia Fanxing poked her head out that she looked toward the bathroom, her brow inevitably furrowing. She had told him to keep it down, yet he turned the water on so high as if fearing she wouldn't hear it?
If she had known it would be like this, she wouldn't have agreed to come to the old house.
Regret!
Unable to sleep anyway, Xia Fanxing flipped through her phone.
She just happened to see a singing video sent by those four boys.
They wanted her to see how well they were doing.
Xia Fanxing nodded in approval; at least it was much better than the first time she had heard them sing.
Suddenly, a jarring ringtone sounded from the bed.
Xia Fanxing looked up. It was Mu Hanchen's phone ringing.
She didn't pay it any attention.
After a short while, it rang again.
It seemed like it would keep ringing if no one answered.
Xia Fanxing couldn't stand it and thought about turning it off, but she didn't want to cause any trouble for Mu Hanchen.
Yet asking him to come out of the shower to answer the phone was something she couldn't bring herself to do,
Glancing at the caller ID, it was an unfamiliar number.
So she just answered it to hear what the other party had to say, in case it was really urgent, then she would tell Mu Hanchen immediately.
But before she could speak, a sweet and frail voice came from the other end, "Hanchen, I'm sorry for calling so late. There was a power outage at my place, and I'm afraid of the dark, can you come over and keep me company?"
"Liang Chuchu?" Xia Fanxing felt a pang in her heart—she couldn't think of a second person who would call Mu Hanchen so late.
"You are... Fanxing?" Liang Chuchu was surprised that Xia Fanxing was the one who answered the call.
"Yes, it's me."
"I'm sorry, Fanxing. I didn't mean to call Hanchen, I'm just really scared. Please don't be mad at him or me, okay?"
Xia Fanxing found Liang Chuchu's apology odd and didn't want to talk more with her, "I'm not mad. He's in the shower right now and can't answer the phone, but I'll tell him to call you back later."
However, the line suddenly filled with sobbing, "Fanxing, don't worry, I won't bother you or Hanchen again."
And with that, the call was abruptly ended.
Xia Fanxing held the phone, stunned. She hadn't really said anything—why did Liang Chuchu start crying?
Before long, Mu Hanchen came out of the bathroom, fresh from his shower.
Only a towel wrapped around his waist.
His broad shoulders and slim waist, the embodiment of male sexuality, were in full display.
Under the warm glow of the light, his clear-cut eight-pack ab flashed an enticing charm.
Xia Fanxing didn't want to look, but her eyes wouldn't move away, and by the time she realized, her face was already flushed red.
Damn it, he couldn't even cover up a bit, could he? It wasn't like he was alone in the room.
Mu Hanchen had actually noticed Xia Fanxing watching him long ago, especially that embarrassed look of hers; it was even a bit cute.
How had he not noticed this before?
