Chapter 40: Beast Attack

"Ouch, look who it is. Mike, it's you, you lost dog. What, Lucy does not want you, so come here to lick ..." The last word "shit" did not say, a boy with red hair laughed as if he was going to break. He was carrying a revolver in his hand, with smoke curling from the muzzle, and the sudden explosion of the fire was naturally his doing.

Mike squeezed two words through his teeth, "Verne!"

Ranked ninth, Verne has long, strong hands and specializes in the use of two revolvers. In the reaction test, he was only ranked behind Allen and Lucy, and was a nimble and fast shooter. Next to Vine was a tall black shadow. The firelight only illuminated a pair of fat legs and the stomach that protruded beyond the belt. Of all the teenagers, there was only one person with that kind of body shape.

Without seeing the full picture, Mike knew who it was.

Fat Lucien! A dirty, mean, and frighteningly strong guy on the side.

Lucien took a few steps forward, that chubby face becoming visible in the light of the fires all around. He narrowed his eyes at Mike, and when he saw the meat and water sitting next to the sheet behind the teenager, Lucien's grin widened, "Mike, Mike, Mike ... I heard you're not doing as well as you'd like. Why don't you follow me like Verne."

Mike spat to the side, "Not interested."

"Is that so? Then leave your stuff behind and get the hell out of here now!" Lucien said, still narrowing his eyes.

Vine looked at the fat man in surprise and said, "Spare him? Lucien you're crazy!"

"Shut up!" Lucien swept his palm across Vine's face, and the single teenager immediately gave the fat boy a sweeping fall to the ground.

Mike glanced toward Vine, a wicked grin on his lips. Lucien said at that point, "What do you say, Mike. Still planning to fuck with us?"

"No, I'm not interested." Mike stepped backward, his military spikes slipping out of his cuffs to come between his palms, "You guys can have all your stuff, I'm only taking a day's worth of food, that's not too much to ask, is it?"

Lucien laughed, "Dear Mike, are you deaf? What I said was, leave all your stuff and only you can get out!"

"Lucien, don't go too far." Mike gritted his teeth.

Lucien suddenly opened his eyes, a hideous grin on his face, "I thought I was being merciful, for a dog!"

Mike's hand cackled as he gripped his military stinger for a moment before he took a deep breath. He nodded and said nothing, only giving the two men a spiteful look before backing away. It was only after backing up a dozen meters or so, away from the flames and the two men, that Mike turned his head and ran wildly into the darkness.

Verne covered his face at this point and climbed to his feet, "Obviously we can take him out, what's a single guy to be afraid of?"

Lucien walked over to where Mike had just nestled and checked the food and water while saying, "You don't have to use your brain to think about it, that guy slipped in the rankings. The coordinates of the assigned drop point must be next to a few others. But only he left alive, this guy is a ruthless character. And look, he has plenty of water and food here, it means that his physical ability is intact, even if he has injuries on his body, it's still enough to deal with the two of us who are hungry and thirsty."

"I am indifferent, but you well ... if really dry up, maybe you will be killed by that kid." Lu Sen said with a smile on his face.

Vine's lips parted in a vague not knowing what to say and reached for Mike's slices of air-dried barbecue. Instead, he gave Lucien a slap away, and the fat man said with a big grin on his face, "Food and water, I'll have to distribute."

Suddenly, Verne felt malice in this fat face.

Mike walked through the canyon full of rage, and God knew how much he wanted to pounce on these two and kill them. But reason told him that just one Lucien was trouble enough, plus one more Verne. They had come prepared, and it wasn't going to be as easy as taking out Cohan.

Teeth squeaking, Mike glanced in the direction from which he had come and said in a deep voice, "You guys wait, I'm going to finish you off. And the others, I want to win! I want everyone who looks down on me to kneel at my feet!"

Suddenly, Mike shut his mouth and dashed as fast as he could into a cracked rock crevice. A few moments later, sand and gravel rolled down from above, dust and ash falling all over his head and face. It was a good ten seconds before the shaking from above stopped. Mike peeked out quietly, and in the moonlight, several rhinoceroses were darting away above the canyon.

"Strange, these big guys should be sleeping at this time of night." Mike said to himself, when something swept by in his eyes. Mike stared, and by the light of the moon, he saw a sphere with metallic reflections streaking across the sky.

The barking of wild rhinoceros was faintly heard in the canyon, and these guys seemed to be even more cranky than usual. Mike frowned in thought.

A wolf howl or two was faintly heard, waking Alan up.

Looking at the fire next to them, the flames had dimmed to the point of almost disappearing, but the residual warmth still filled the cave, ensuring that they wouldn't toss and turn in the freezing night. This was a cave located at the bottom of the river valley slope, with rocky beaches and rapids beyond. Even at night, the water sounded turbulent.

Lucy was sleeping at the other end, and the young girl, wrapping herself in her clothes, was making even breathing sounds. It seemed that she was a little cold because the flames were dying out, so she shrunk herself tighter. Alan took off his own top, revealing the light armor defensive suit inside. He draped the body-warmed top over the girl's body, and then grabbed Berserkers and the tactical longsword and walked out of the cave.

The night was sinking, but the world was not dark. The moon and stars shed their silver light like a veil over this river valley. In the distance was a forest hidden in the moonlight, the line of which stretched toward the north, forming a narrow silhouette.

Tonight's forest seems to be a little less calm, usually in the middle of the night although there is no shortage of wolves heard howling, but today those saber-toothed storm wolves in the forest seem to have more cries, and their voices carry some kind of unspeakable flavor.

Like an awakened beast, violent and fierce!

Alan frowned as the wind came from the direction of the forest, bringing with it the fresh scent of the woods and a dark hint of fishy air.

Suddenly, he captured some suspicious black dots. The black dots swept over the forest and swept repeatedly, as many as hundreds of them.

  "What's that?"

At that moment, a dark shadow flew in from the forest, breaking into the moonlight on the river, and it was a metallic orb. It was a metal orb, a monitor that the Council had placed in Yellowstone, and it was these special "eyes" that made up the surveillance node. When Alan looked up, he didn't realize that his own face had also been captured in the monitor's camera.

Supported by the real-time transmission signal, almost without any delay, Allen's face appeared in the holographic projector in the command hall of the Death Ring. Of course, at this moment, the holographic projector was opening thousands of images, and Allen was merely one of these countless images.

Alstair yawned, holding onto the railing of the bridge toward the bottom and asked, "How are the preparations for Operation Beast Tide coming along?"

  "Everything is ready, sir."

"Very well, then start it up. Time to get those cute kids of ours running, isn't the meaning of life in motion?" Alstair laughed and prepared to leave. For him, tonight's overtime work was done, so naturally he didn't need to stay in the command hall anymore. The rest of the matter would be left to the people underneath to accomplish.

  It's just a game.

That's the whole point of the Ring of Death for Alstair.

After the minister left, the so-called Beast Tide operation began to activate. In the countless images of the holographic projector, the figures of many dangerous species appeared. They became restless and manic under the stimulation of a certain special wavelength. And when the committee changed the delivery of the wavelength signal, the dangerous species, as if driven by an invisible hand, headed towards the target the committee wanted them to reach.

At the valley of the Rapid Bay River, on the beach, Allen's ears flicked. It was as if he had heard something, but the river beach water clattered loudly, obscuring all clues. Allen's heart flooded with uneasiness, it was a kind of intuition. Years of living in the wilderness, living with snow wolves in the past five years, he has developed no different from the intuition of a wild beast.

Intuitive signals come from many sources; sounds, smells and even subtle changes in light. Nature, in its own unique way, sends special signals to Alan.

Catching this intuition, Allen suddenly saw that a storm wolf had burrowed out from the edge of the forest.

At this moment in time, the storm wolves should be asleep, not still roaming under the darkness of the night! More dire wolves began to emerge, they burrowed out of the forest and ran towards the river in a frenzy. Alan's pupils dilated slightly, and countless demonic black shadows were reflected in his bright red pupils. Countless violent wolves surged out of the forest, screaming furiously as they rushed down the river, and in the blink of an eye, they were swept away by the rapids.

But they went forward and back, not caring if they lived or died. A tyrannical wolf with red eyes stared at Allen like it wanted to tear him apart!

"What's going on?" Lucy rubbed her eyes and stepped out of the mountain river, apparently hearing the commotion.

Ellen backed up to her and said, "We have to leave."

  "Now?"

  "Now!"

Lucy's face turned incredibly pale when she finally saw, under the moonlight, the one storm wolf rushing towards the river. They might be able to deal with two or three violent wolves, but if they were surrounded by so many wild beasts, they would definitely be torn apart.

At this moment, wolf howls came from the forest far away on this side of the river. Both sides of the river valley were dense forests, and at this moment, even the far side of the river bank where Allen and his two men were, many violent wolves began to emerge. They, on the other hand, did not have any obstacles in their way!

"Run, run!" Alan shouted, stowing the Mad Butcher and the Tactical Long Knife behind him, taking Lucy's hand and running towards the south side of the river valley.

That's the only direction that's not infested with storm wolves!

Under the moonlight, a pack of wolves ran wildly, they roamed across the river valley, biting at the back of Allen's two men. The two of them had never seen such a large-scale beast tide, both of their small faces were pale, and they could only run wildly.
