A Seed of Doubt

The grand hall was richly decorated, with opulent furnishings and exquisite details that reflected the Russo's wealth and prestige.

Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the room.

The walls were adorned with intricate gold leaf patterns, and the floors were made of polished marble that shone like glass.

The tables were set with fine linens, sparkling crystal, each one a masterpiece of elegance. Centerpieces of fresh flowers added a pop of color and fragrance to the room.

A live orchestra played on a raised platform at one end of the room, their music filling the space with a sophisticated ambiance.

The dance floor was surrounded by plush velvet couches, and chairs where guests could sit and watch the festivities.

The hall was abuzz with the cream of the society, all gathered to celebrate the Russo's company 25th anniversary.

It was a sea of tuxedos and evening gowns, with diamond and designer labels on display.

Everywhere, they were touched of luxury and refinement, from the lavish buffet to the premium bar, where skilled mixologists crafted signature cocktails.

It was a setting fit for royalty and all guests were treated like kings and queens for the night.

Maya looked stunning in her red silk dress, the vibrant color accentuating her smooth skin. The dress hugged her curves perfectly, and the slit on the side added a touch of sensuality to her overall look.

Her red lipstick matched the dress perfectly, adding a pop of color to her face.

Her hair was packed neatly into a bun, with a few loose strands framing her face. A delicate ribbon tied around the bun added a touch of elegance.

Her makeup was impeccable, her eyeliner was precise, and her blush adding a healthy glow to her cheeks.

Maya's overall look was one of sophistication and glamour, perfect for the high-profile event she was attending.

She exuded confidence and poise, her beauty and charm captivating everyone around her.

Lucas, dashing in his tailored tuxedo escorted her through the crowd, his hand on her lower back.

They mingled with the guests, exchanging pleasantries. The room was electric with the hum of conversation and clinking of glasses.

Lucas was mesmerized by Maya's beauty, he felt proud to be with her, knowing that she was turning heads wherever they went.

Together, they were a stunning couple and their love for each other only added to their allure.

Don Carlo beamed with pride, shaking hands and accepting congratulations from the guests.

His eyes gleamed with satisfaction and pride as he looked around.

Don Carlo stood at the head of the table, surveying the room with a warm smile, his wife Madam Rochelle, stunningly dressed and Maria, resplendent in her silver dress stood beside him.

The gentle clinking sound filled the air as he called the attention of the guests.

"Ladies and gentlemen, my dear friends and family," he began, his voice booming across the room.

"I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and everyone of you for joining us tonight."

He paused, his eyes scanning the room as he made eye contact with the guests.

"Tonight, we gather to celebrate a milestone in the company's history. Twenty five years of hard work, dedication and perseverance, and i couldn't have done it without you all."

He raised his glass, "So, let us merry and make some unforgettable memories. Here's to laughter, success and many more years of prosperity."

The room erupted in a chorus of cheers and applause as the guests raised their glasses in a toast.

Maya and Lucas smiled at each other and clinked their glasses, grateful to be part of this special night.

As the music swelled and the crowd began to sway, Lucas turned to Maya with a charming smile.

"May I have the pleasure of this dance, Mrs Russo?"

Maya's heart skipped a beat as she nodded and smiled, feeling a flutter in her chest. She placed her hand in Lucas's, and he led her onto the dance floor.

The music was a sensual, pulsing rhythm and Lucas drew Maya close, his hand on her waist.

They moved in perfect sync, their bodies swaying to the beat.

Maya felt she was melting into Lucas's arms, she felt his warm breath on her skin, the scent of his cologne.

She closed her eyes, surrendering to the magic of the moment.

As they danced, Lucas whispered in her ear, "You look so damn beautiful tonight," he breathed. "I am so lucky to have you."

Maya's heart soared as she knew in that moment that she was falling deeply in love with Lucas.

Isabella's eyes narrowed as she watched Lucas and Maya dance, her mind seething with resentment.

As she sipped her champagne, her mind began to spin with a plan.

Her gaze drifted around the room, her eyes settling on Don Carlo, who was laughing and chatting with some guests.

A sly smile spread across her face as she made her way through the crowd.

As she approached Don Carlo, her smile grew wider. Her eyes locked onto her father's.

"Father, have you noticed anything..different about Lucas and Maya's relationship?" She asked, her gaze flicking towards the dancing couple.

Don Carlo's expression turned dismissive, his voice gruff.

"I do not care about their relationship, Isabella. As long as Lucas produces an heir, I am satisfied. I have told you, do not disturb me with such petty concerns again. I have more important things to attend to."

He paused, his gaze piercing. "Perhaps if you had a man of your own, you wouldn't be so bothered by Lucas's relationship with Maya. Your constant meddling only serves as a highlight of your loneliness."

With that, Don Carlo turned his back on Isabella and her concerns.

Her eyes sparkled with a wicked intensity, her target set on Maya.

She reveled in the opportunity to sabotage Maya's evening, to plant seeds of doing and destroy her confidence.

Maya entered the bathroom, seeking a moment of solitude to collect her thoughts.

She wanted to splash some water on her face and reapply her makeup before returning to the party.

As she approached the sink, she gazed at her reflection in the mirror. Her hair was still in place, she smiled to herself feeling carefree and happy.

Just as she was about to turn on the faucet, she heard the sound of high heels clicking on the marble floor.

Maya turned to see Isabella coming towards her, a sly smile spreading across her face.

"I think you should know the truth about Lucas's intentions," Isabella whispered, her voice dripping with venom.

"He's been playing you all along, using you to get what he wants…what the family needs."

Maya's guard instinctively went up. "What are you talking about?"

"Lucas's initial motive was to seduce you. He's been playing a game with you and you are just a pawn, Maya. I know you think he's interested in you, but trust me he's not. He's just using you for his own amusement..waiting for the perfect time to make his move."

Maya's face paled, her eyes darting to the door as if she wanted to escape.
